Very well, although my views on the subject matter differ I won't be very persistent.
Handling PK'ing in character is going to be pretty difficult, but I suppose it's manageable. A noteworthy statement is that of Roke, it's true that the roleplaying (or the lack thereof) is the biggest problem of Illarion. When I say the biggest problem of Illarion, I do mean the biggest problem the average player of Illarion deals with. Bror, despite the seriousness of any actual serverproblems, those problems will not affect me immediatly when I go in game and when I'm IC. The most obvious problem is that there is very little roleplaying, followed by misbehaviour.
I suppose first we'll have to see through if Illarion stays before finding solutions for those problems.

"We currently have no server programmer and if we don't find one in the next weeks, the project Illarion is DEAD. In my humble opinion, this problem is more serious than the PK situation. "
as time is of the essance, does this problem still plague us in the dark?

@Shadow Wraith: We currently have one person that may be able to do the job. He doesn't meet all requirements, since he can't talk german, but we have waited for two weeks now and don't want to let the project die. I have given him some parts of the code and it seemed, that he was able to get it. This issue is NOT finaly decided.

@Roke: I totally disagree with your point about not being able to kill someone who steals from you. In my opionion that is the number 1 best RP reason to PK someone. If you are going to be a thief, then RP it. And if I catch you stealing from me, I am going to RP it and try to kill you to either get the item(s) back or to get revenge. That is reality, how is it not RPing?

I can see if someone steals a substansial amount of money, gems or potions you have a reason to kill them but stealing one ruby??? a shovel? or a hammer? then it should not be resolved with killing. The problem with this that a list would take too much time, making it so people have to use their judgement which is not a good thing. I hope that a server programmer is found soon as I have grown to really love this game. Good luck.

Roleplaying depends on each one of us... I think that if you play a high tempered character than killing for stealing a shovel MAY be a reason, but if your character is cold minded then it should let it go if you notice it and even if you play a dumb character then it will probably not even notice he was stolen. I think that people are just not prepared to accept that they can never be like the others and stop competing with others because people are NOT supposed to be the same! If so we would never have anything to discuss, or anything to learn, or anything you could smile about, etc..
I loved this game so far and I have found many people that I think are worth playing with. I really don´t want to see it ending just because some people can´t understand that. I have thought seriously about leaving once but the fun I have when there is something different happening is worth the headache with bad roleplayers... I know that I still have a LOT to learn but this can only be learnt by doing it, you can´t have someone telling you do this or do that, because different personalities react differently to certain situations.
I have no complaints about this game and I love it, period.

Roke,
"you have a reason to kill them but stealing one ruby??? a shovel? or a hammer? then it should not be resolved with killing."
See, even in this everything is not black and white. (wonder why all the law books have thousands and thousands pages of small-print text, hehe)
What about stealing last shovel of the miner?
What if the miner can't feed his family without the shovel?
What if the ruby that the person stole from me was precious to me, a gift from my father before the tragic death of his, that left me deeply traumatized?
I think, that taking ten coins from a man that has thousands of them, is not nearly as bad as taking last coin from a poor man.
-Ahem, don't take me wrong. You will still taste my axe if you plan to touch my precious silver!
