If I recall Grant, you used the exact same tactic on Xerake when he insulted you (though he escaped, so I can't complain much).

Anyway, it is for sure awful roleplay.

Let's say you become a decent mage; you can use a green or blue flame most of the time, and you successfully become decent at paralysis as well. Now, let's picture a master swordsman; almost mastered slashing weaponry, very high parry, and so forth.

They get into a fight; now it's awfully difficult to get magic resistance nowadays, so the fighter barely has any of that. A mage can cast a paralysis spell or two on the master fighter, but he stays there...then a blue or green flame followed by more paralysis spells...so in the end, it doesn't matter how good of a hand to hand fighter you are, because even the best can lose to a small talented mage.

Yes, the magery in the game desperately needs to be balanced...I only use paralysis for warnings and to hold for an ice bolt, NEVER for a flame.

In Illarion you *could* kill everybody you see for no reason. You *could* exchange things between characters. You *could* mix OOC and IC. But why doesn't everybody do that? Because the rules forbid it, because it ruins the roleplay atmosphere or gives a particular player too much advantage. So, you *could* cast a million paralyze spells followed by a green or blue flame, but you should not because it makes no sense for a mage having to cast more than two paralysis spells....

And cast it faster than they can say the runes! Sheesh! So yes, like putting vases in front of demons, it's considered taking advantage of the games technics to fit your wants.
