My opinion about evil roleplaying is, that anyone who shouts 'I am evil' out loud, is asking for beating and deserves everything he gets.
No 'real' evil would do that, mad or idiot would, but then on the other hand being mad or idiot is not forbidden nor really evil. Don't moan if you get killed for shouting 'your evility' openly, that is what you get, even thought Caranthir is not going to do that.

Being stupid doesn't pay, real evil keep their work hidden.

Bloodhearte, I think it makes not much sense to ask "How can I play Bloodhearte evil?" Bloodhearte is bloodhearte, why does he have to fullfill a klichee or fit into a certain categorie? You should better think of a complex character and act as you imagine he would, you may even give him a weakness in character, thats what makes such a person interesting.
Sometimes people tell me I was playing Moyáve "not evil enough", but I don't like it if she's just described "evil", I play her as she exists in my imagination, and I wouldn't even call that evil. And she doesn't even need to stay "evil"....she might fall in love, and the person might change her...
Just be open for changes in Bloodhearte's enviroment and let him react.

Meh. If I get into this cool sounding game, I will mostly be a hired blade. No good, no evil, just money. Once I am strong, I will do stuff for cash, like a hired blade......I will do anything, good or evil, as long as I am well paid.

I really think we need more variety in the kinds of roles played by people in this game. I hope when I finally get in, it's not like Tibia where everyone is a hero, as i'm beginning to think from various posts on this forum. I myself will probably become a Druid character and try to start a (witch) Doctor Surgery or something (Unless I discover loads of other people have done it already). Evil characters are a step in the right direction in my opinion. Rynt's character would probably be an original and welcome change too. I just hope it won't be too long before I get accepted!

Same here. I really can't wait until I can start getting into this game. I have played a few online RPG games before, but I got banned in one because I did not agree with one of the Admin much (In fact, I hated Him). The roleplay there seriously SUCKED. ONE person could become a warrior, a mage, a thief AND a tradesman. That is AWFUL. :x

One of the rules was that you must be in character at all times, yet everyone wanted to talk about computers, and real life. My reason for playing RPG games is to ESCAPE from real life. Nobody would buy anything you made yourself because it is useless in the face of something you can find after slaughtering hundreds of monsters. You could make 100 iron swords in about 30 minutes!I really hope this game is a little harder...Oh, the other game got hard if the Admin decided to hit you with a meteor, or make Dragons vampires appear next to you. GREAT Roleplay!

Sorry to bring you back to earth but at this time all the things you said are also possible in illa

>ONE person could become a warrior, a mage, a thief AND a tradesman
>You could make 100 iron swords in about 30 minutes

But the RP is much better. (I think, i dont know what RP you have played before)

The Game ist in Alpha state the most of the thinks from the FAQ are not implemented yet.

You think that was bad?
Try playing Tibia, we've all been there, thought it was good for about ten minutes and then came here and started seriously knocking it. Tibia sucks as at least most people here will agree.

But fact is, they can become well skilled in each. They can beat the toughest monsters, make the hardest items, cast the hardest spells......It was plain unfair.

And you can take all the iron ore you had, heated up the ore, smelted it ALL in 10 mins, and make the swords in 20.All MADE.Ready to use, using a coal pit and an anvil.

And I HAVE played it. I went to mainland and I was a druid. Someone killed me and I had ZERO mana. I was USELESS!Tibia is totally crap!

I have played tibia. But for a very short time i hate the people who are killing rats and when you want to help them they shouted "Mine". Illa is much better.

let's look at this a bit philosophicaly:

What's good, what's evil?

Isn't it only a different point of view?

One thing may be bad in one's opinion,
while in the other's it's the best thing you can do.

I played Tibia for a short while also.
A VERY short while.

That very same incident happened to me. I was walking along and I saw someone attacking a giant rat. Naturally (if you are role playing properly) when you see someone being attacked by a giant rat, you step in and help. My character would not want to see someone in a fight with a giant rat and not help out. So I started attacking the rat also.

Then the other person turned on me and tried to attack me! As I was evading him, I asked why. He said that the rat was his and should quit attacking HIS monsters.

From what I hear this is something that happens all the time.

I beleive its called stealings someone kill, bad bad bad, what you have to do is watch them die and then laugh at them.

Drague, Bloodhearte says he doesn't believe in good or evil, just two sides opposing. But, people love to use him as a scapegoat and call him evil, so it's easier to say "I'm evil." Rather than "I'm somebody who doesn't believe in good or evil, just two sides opposing each other."

Quitter.
Well, anyways-
Caranthir does share that opinion, even thought with small modifications.

Life is not black and white, its just different shades of grey.

Okay, I know this is a quite old topic, but I ve been away for ages

Just wanted to say:

A class system might help to prevent Illa from "hero-flooding", for example if you d intend to become a craftsman, your fighting skills would have been quite weak and in my view combat skills are quite important for playing a "true" hero. Of course a craftsman usually would get rich more easily and could hire fighters to reach his, lets say "more aggressive" , goals. Such a system would also make it easier to play a mercenary.

@Bloodhearte: Well, I also think you shouldn t ask us how to play  , play how you want to. And I totally agree with Moyavé, your character can change his minds, my evil char wasnt evil when he started playing Illa.

(@Moyave: Female chars are the most cruel ones,if they are evil  )

Raistlin Majere is a good example of a character who isn´t black or white.
Hi is himself. He wants magic. But still, he doesn´t kill everyone.
I do not realy know what I want to be. A thief, a asassin, a bounty hunter, a mercenary, a smith, maybie a wizard.
