I think that instead of taking the tools from the NPC seller's list this should be done: Instead of having every player be forced to start the game witha shovel and a hammer, a player could be allowed to choose what craft he would like to pursue and based on that craft get the necessary tools at the start of the game in replacement of the current shovel and hammer. Forcing every player to appear in the game with a shovel and hammer forces the player to either do some mining and/or blacksmithing which their character might not want to do in their particular RP background etc. Either this would happen or the player would have to have another older player give him/her the necessary tools!

Dyluck wrote:The hope that players will buy tools from other players may only work in theory. There's a good chance that a new player will simply become a miner/smith instead if he cannot find someone to buy the tools from.
I tend to agree with that Dyluck. Which is why my characters give away basic tools, shovels, hammers, scissors, etc... I believe they should remain cheap no matter what happens to other prices.

Often in game a new player has needed a shovel and I give one to him, and then we start a conversation... what an amazing concept. Two players interacting with each other who don't know each other in RL just because someone gave a tool to them!!!
