Citizen of Cadomyr and elsewhere,
Another Mas has passed and this year, the dark days came without armies of undead, likely due to what is hopefully the final defeat of Jefferson Grey after last year's invasion. I am happy to announce that there have
not been any reports of wounded, or worse, in Cadomyr. That, we must be grateful for.
However, and you all will know that by now, Mas brought a lot of
tensions between Cadomyr and the Runewickian Rangers. A group of Runewickians came to Cadomyr, eager to help in what they thought was a threatening situation and I would like to take this chance to
thank them for their concern despite the current tensions. Sadly, things got out of hands from both sides, it would be foolish to not admit mistakes made on Cadomyrian side, and tempers got heated quite a lot. Let it be known that
no Runewickian will face consequences for coming to Cadomyr that day, as I believe with some distance to what happened, that the
initial idea was good natured. Nobody will deny that drawn weapons directed against 'allies' can hardly be seen as an offer for help, though. In their defense, they put down their weapons, once I asked them to do. It will not go unnoticed or unpunished, though, that Runewickian Rangers overstepped their area of responsibility by quite a lot, when they
disrespected my word as the only current noble beneath her Majesty. My assurance that things were alright and nothing was to be worried about, was met with
untenable accusations, where my word alone should have been enough on Cadomyrian ground, as her Majesty put me into a position that grants me the power to make decisions. The decision to not slay the loyal knight Acerd of Cadomyr nor the man known as Reace, was rightful and according to Cadomyrian law.
It is not the task of Runewickian Rangers to question or even challenge this decision on Cadomyrian ground, as much as my word would not challenge Runewickian laws on Runewickian ground. The fact that it was
Mas does not change these laws in Cadomyr, the Rangers may or may not have
rightfully proclaimed the martial law for Runewick, but it
does not and never will apply to Cadomyrian soil. The reason behind the refusal of the Runewickian guests remains a secret, but their ignorance of both the local hierarchy and to the fact that they had absolutely none power on Cadomyrian ground, remains as inexplicable as it is unacceptable.
The Rangers as a whole hereby receive a
ban of four dwarven months for overstepping their area of responsibility, disrespecting me and my word as a Countess of Cadomyr, as well as questioning the hierarchy of her Majesty Queen Rosaline Edwards. Furthermore, for threatening the well-being of a Cadomyrian knight.
After the first confrontation, the rangers and probationary councilors Drathe Blue and Caswir Drakuhl took a few steps back to discuss their next steps quietly. Unfortunately for them, and inexplicable to me, they did so right next to the loyal Jeremiah Horanfeld, who overheard their conversation, his report is attached.
I, Jeremiah Horanfeld, master of the cistern in Cadomyr, hereby swear in the name of her Majesty Queen Rosaline Edwards, that the following report is the truth. The conversation I overheard happened, when the Runewickian rangers came to Cadomyr at the 1st Mas 64, in order to investigate the matter of two individuals they claimed to be demonic entities.
After Countess Katharina Brightrim refused to step aside between the Runewickian guests and the individuals they were after, one of which being a Cadomyrian knight, the Runewickian Rangers came over to me, to discuss their next steps. I overheard their conversation and am hereby reporting to her Majesty and the Countess what was said, as it is of high concern for the Cadomyrian safety and sovereignity.
At the beginning of the discussion, the blonde, addressed as Bidukan by the Countess, inquired whether the pale elf, addressed as Avaroth by the Countess, was completely sure that they were dealing with demonic creatures, which the elf confirmed. Another man and former Cadomyrian, Orion Lysander, pointed out how they could not take the two individuals in question without a fight. Bidukan stated that the fight would not be a problem, but the consequences would be severe and for this, he pushed a peaceful solution. Regardless, Orion pointed out how, if there was a fight, nobody should kill the Countess, as that would be a "diplomatic disaster". There was no word about sparing the other people accompanying the Countess at this time, Knight Aleytys Lamar, Inara, Acerd and the foreigner man called Reace, which is why I assume that he was comfortable with the idea of killing everybody but the Countess. Again, the blonde man told them to not push too hard and to not resort to violence. Apparently reluctant, the others agreed. Orion pointed out to not kill the Countess, if there was in fact a fight. Meanwhile, probational councilor Drathe Blue expressed his disappointment in the peaceful solution to the conflict.
The end of the conflict is known to everybody reading this, the Countess assured that the two individuals in question were no danger to anybody. So far, nothing bad has happened in relation to these people.
Avaroth receives an additional ban of
one dwarven month for insulting me, defaming and wrongfully accusing me of harboring demonic entities, and repeatedly and intentionally not addressing me with the proper title, ignoring any instruction to the contrary, thus showing his proof of disrespect and disregard for the Cadomyrian hierarchy of her Majesty. He also expressed to entertain the idea of resorting to violence against citizen of Cadomyr and myself. While the actual use of violence, especially against a noble, would have lead to a way more severe punishment, the conspiracy to violence, already proves sufficient to justify consequences. The comparatively short ban duration can be explained with his support regarding the demonic artifact in front of Cadomyr a few days after this incident, which has been taken into account for leniency.
Bidukan receives an additional ban of
one dwarven month for defaming Cadomyrian knights (namely Aleytys Lamar and Amanda Brightrim), baselessly accusing a Cadomyrian knight (namely Aleytys Lamar) of shameful and dishonorable actions and for actively trying to create a rift between Cadomyr and Runewick. Claiming that the realm of Cadomyr is falsely tainting his name in public and for disrespecting me and thus the hierarchy given by her Majesty. The comparatively mild punishment is a result of his efforts to keep things peaceful, convincing his fellow rangers to not turn violent against us in order to seize Reace and Acerd and his support when analyzing the demonic artifact in front of Cadomyr a few days after this incident.
Orion Lysander receives an additional ban of
three dwarven months for actively pushing the idea of turning violent against Cadomyrian citizen and me, even considering to actually kill everybody but me (according to him, because murdering me would be a diplomatic disaster). In a group of people who conspired to violence, he was the most eager.
Drathe Blue receives an additional ban of
two dwarven weeks for expressing his disappointment of discarding the idea of a violent attack.
These bans are put in place with
immediate effect and only against those individuals who openly considered to use violence against Cadomyrian citizen. It is not a conflict between Cadomyr and Runewick as a whole, those who are not accused of wrong-doings were and will always be welcome in Cadomyr. However, people who conspire to assault Cadomyrian citizen and even a Cadomyrian noble, will not be met with kindness.
It would be against my belief to not grant a chance to solve this whole conflict peacefully. That said,
each of the banned is invited to come and visit me in Cadomyr in order to talk about their ban. For this very reason, they are
allowed to enter the town. Should they be found entering the town
for any other reason, they will be
expelled and Horatio will be instructed to not let them pass again.
I am willing to negotiate about the punishments, however, keep in mind that the conspiracy to resort to violence will not go unpunished.
May the diplomatic bounds between Cadomyr and Runewick recover from this conflict, even if the person in charge of diplomatic contact on Runewick's side refused to do anything to soothe the conflict.
Keep in mind that this is a board for official announcements, and thus, parchments pinned beneath this one, on the official board of Cadomyr, will be removed without further note.
Elos 16th 65,
Countess of House Desert Fox
