@ Serp, ooh! I think you idea with the amuletts is great (and more RP than my feeble attempt) But the thing about the spell . . . imagine a mage with say a dozen friends he wants to check are online, if the 'someone (abcxyz) forms silent words with the lips.' appears a dozen times, and he is in town, this would cause much disruption, so perhaps it could be disabled for this spell.

Entry/Exit messages are staying out.

The stone/amulet idea is best. Then you wont get flooded by everyone that enters, just the select few that you 'link' up with. Also you wont be distracted by someone who makes a stupid name. Its annoying when "Jamesbond2002 has just entered illarion :)" but i guess the Email application thing will stop that anyway.

Mabey #g could link you to the person you want, similar to #i

But when those messages came up all the time, it got annoying

Ok i know they are going to stay out but i would like to hear what Bror has to say about all of these posts.

And it would help prevent yourself from seeing the offensive names while you can still see the names of the people who arrive/leave.

Its a realy good think they take it out! Sure you dont see your friends or some wanted people. But in real life you also have to make a date with your friends to visit them. so why you get excited

I must admit, that I miss these messages.
Cause of meeting friends ingame.
So I think, the idea with magical rings or other objects, given to friends, to know, if they log in, is a good solution. You only see the messages, you want to see and noone is disturbed in his roleplay-atmosphaere.

Btw. it is the same with Elizas sentence. She disturbes also conversation near the shop.

Aragon's right. Eliza is the number one spammer in Troll's Bane.
Another thing are the "What should I..." messages when crafting something. Especially with mass goods like bottles, arrows and so on can they become quite annoying.

If you want to see if your friend is on, can't you go to the server status to see who is on?

by Dyluck
Hmm maybe some kind of in-game option you could choose whether to turn on or off the log messages or the "what should i" messages...

it is senceless to discuss about it.
the gms said it was a bug and now it is realy good that u don't see the online and offline messages.
they never will come back.

Eliza's and the sellers messages can be left in or taken out, and the same with the "what should I..." messages.

Not sure if they will or won't though, but I doubte there will be a toggable option.

It might make sense, however, to not show the message for "what should I..." if the person has a certain skill in an item. By that time they should know what to do.

Just mumbling.

I think, leaving out entering and leaving messages is a good idea. I know some people who log out when someone joins the game and relog with another char. When you change your character, other people don't see it.

but thats part of life. someone said here, u never see where ur friends are.
i hate it, if people log out and in with another character.
i prefer to go then.
waiting ingame for someone is more fun.
i hope it never comes back.

Ja ist schon so wie du sagst nila, aber zu loggen nur weil jemand reinkommt ist schwachsinn (und zeugt schlechtes spielverständnis)

As I said once before the game isn't real life it is fantasy. So why bring in real life situations into it.

Well if you want to make it real life lets make it everyone has to wake up at the earliest of 10 am......because by thats time you know people in real life are awake. but no i see people wakeing up at 10 pm my time.

As you might be able to see bringing the message back it keeps it fantasy and there for more fun.

And as a reply to Randelf the Dwarf's post before you can do that but there are people who get loged off in the game after a minute and i am one of them......i cant just go to the web page every 5 minutes seeing if my friends are awake because i will get logged of each time.

Turn, ich bin schon gelogt, weil ich sah, dass jemand geradewegs meinetwegen den character gewechselt hat.
statt illa zu spielen hatte ich dann was anderes gemacht.

its not important. it is only a conversation betwen nila and turn. turn said it is not good to log if someone logs in and nila said it is ok to log off ;-)

Ok thanks for that.

So when is Bror going to write up on here telling me what he thinks and i dont want anyone else to come up and say things like it is staying out just drop it or anything in relation to it please i want to hear from Bror himself what he thinks and is he cant come up here and give a reply then why not bring it back.....because it will look like as if he doesn't care if they are in or not. Like i said before i wanna hear this from Bror and no one else!

1. Bror has no access right now to the internet.
2. Bror was the one who asked me to take it out in a list of other things.
3. If you're waiting for Bror's reply you may be waiting a long time.

It's not a 'real life situation', it's just realistc, there is a difference many people fail to see.

There is more to removing the messages than just spam.

It was all too easy, without even trying, to figure out who each's characters were. X logs out, Y logs in. Next time X logs out, Y logs in. Oh, well, dang, X is also Y.

That was also annoying.

firstly I have all the time in the world to wait for his reply......second most of the time people do not pay attention the name thing UNLESS they see there friends name on there............and thirdly people where bringing real life situations into say stuff like in you dont see your friends wake up in real life blah blah blah and makeing it REALISTIC tooooooo much means hay lets introducea sickness like the black plauge the kills off your character for good....i bet no one would like that would they

Diablo II has a Hardcore mode. When you die, end of character. Have to create a new one.

And, no, I have no contact with Bror. Haven't communicated with him for ages.
