That 67 players was the war
GO CAELUM GO GO GO!
I like both Fooser's idea and this idea tbh.
And @Taeryon: Well then if 5 months aint enough, hows about a year?

My idea was sarcastic though

This is just RP police on steroids. What examples do we have to look at things like this? The mentioned fairies/goblins/gnomes. There are always more lizards (1-3) on than there are those three races
combined. So if you further this you're putting a huge strain on the others. It's quite apparent people don't want to put in that extra time just to play a certain race. That would give them the choice of human or leave, and I don't think we need that. Illarion needs players because the staff works hard every day, and the online players #'s haven't changed much in what ... 5 years? And now people want to make that number actually go down most likely .. makes no sense

ogerawa used the words "bad roleplay" and "human elves" in context.
i want to declare, that i don't want to say, that all those POs, that play "human elves" are bad roleplayers.
a lot of these chars would be really good, if they were humans.
what i want to say, is, that they use the wrong avatars for their human chars.
(or the wrong char-behaviour for their elves)

good players as soon as possible. I would rather think about methods how to accomplish that instead of thinking about methods that hit new players, good and bad alike. Keep in mind that 80% of all players were scared away by the old account system. And who tells me that those 80% were bad roleplayers anyway is mistaken. I think a real newbie island will help alot - hopefully.
New players for Illa shouldnt be a problem, its just about searching the right places. However the server crashes must be fixed first.

Well, if you think they are good roleplayers given that they play a human char instead of elves. Why not give them a chance to be a good roleplayers as elves? Since they are not a bad roleplayer, you can talk to them and tell what they did wrong or maybe they have some reasons (background perhaps) to behave like humans.
I mean, I never seen anyone IG tell the other person or give tips if they are playing their char the wrong way. And I play with elves a lot. The fun in RPing with them is not measured by whether they are being an elf or not. Just because they are not elf's enough, doesn't mean that they are not fun to RP with anyway.
Why would you want to "script" other people's RP? The fun playing an online game is that, you are interacting with other people with their own uniqueness/individuality. They would react their own way, that you would never have guessed. But when you give them some "rules" then you limit those individuality, and soon enough the creativity would be limited as well. In my opinion, someone who is playing by the "book" is plain boring.
Not to mention, who are we to tell others that they should play their char in a certain way? Why judge others? You should think on what you should do, not what others should do. Give them good examples or give them some advices. When you see those "human" elves, do you ever try to understand why they behave like that? Is it cause of their ignorant or perhaps they have some history that makes them act they way they act. Spend more time to help others improve themselves instead of making "rules" of how they should play.
I wonder how many of those who complains actually have ever actively try to help those they complained, instead of finding the other people who "act" according to their race and play with them.
The reason why the community here is rather "unfriendly" I'd say. When someone do something wrong, you just throw rocks at them and hopefully they will stop doing wrong or do as you want them to do. Eventhough there is a better solution for the same problem which is telling them what they did wrong and actually help them. I'm not saying that everyone did the same thing, but from my experience in forum seems like this is the case.
Basically look into yourself and introspect, rather than look into others and try to change them forcefully. If you change yourself and be actively help others, given the time, hopefully you will influence others to improve themselves.
PS: i'm saying this in general, not specifically to Korm. Ugh... ends up long again <.<

sure, it would be friendlier, to let everybody play as they want.
but don't we give away a lot of RP possibilities?
racial missunderstandings, prejudices, and the like? people, who even both talking common, simply don't undersand each others meaning?
shouldn't there be something more to RP, than cybering and loveaffairs?
i mean, i fully understand, that illa is cheaper than telephone sex, but i would like to see more kinds of RP.
(yes, i am overstating, to make my point...)

Korm its your own problem if you only play cybering and such..not the others plaers.

I still like my old idea. Replace all the players with robots and we wouldn't have these problems. They would all act the same, and more importantly, how they're suppose to, and any issues are quickly fixed with a little programming and fixing.

All i can say is that, if you want more kinds of RP then start it yourself. Don't expect others to do it for you and serves it in silver plate. You can set a good example for what other RP options illa can offer other than cyber and loveaffairs. Set a new RP trend. Doesn't mean it to sounds harsh, but i'm out of words to put it in a better way.
Everyone has their own mind and will, I bet you won't like it if someone force you to do something that you don't like, unless you are different than most people that is.
To take it a step further of what Fooser said, rather than play against programmed races maybe it's better to play offline games? *shrugs*

Thanks....................................ehh...........and a few more......
So the downside to this proposal is that it might discourage new players.
We would also have more humans that look like humans instead of whatever they are now.
No doubt it would increase RP quality in game and improve overall atmosphere.
Out of pure curiosity, how does Illarion attract players? I mean...like..just by being on other sites?

I spam about 30 game sites a month with advertisements for Illarion...and I also harass other player in other games to come to Illarion. I AM HOW ILLARION ADVERTISES! Muahahahaha!

I lost the overview over this topic since all the discussion and i have no time and no intension to read it now.
If someone wants to post a summery of the result of all that posts here, i will think about a answer.

I think the summary is: Some think it's a good idea. Some think it is not.
PS: I guess it's all depending on what the staffs priority lies on: The roleplay or a bigger amount of players.

Okay. Then we do something completly different and new! We just put racial applies on humans and leave all other races free -.-

Applying for a human:
Well, I have had extensive practice as being a human. As far back as I can remember I have been honing my skills for it. I believe by playing a human it will enlighten me to new RP experiences. I think I could play a human easily. Pick me humans are teh uberness. They are cool!
