Hey, sorry I haven't responded to my own post in a while but my internet has been down for about a week or so but now I am back up and happily willing to answer anyone's new questions. Now, about this post, as some people have already done, please don't ramble on about things such as other players who are not doing so well with the game. (Yes, I do not wish to use the term "noob" since it is degrading and I do not think in this case anyone should be degraded, ESPECIALLY new players) Please, keep this topic clean and useful to all the new players that need some help.

i did read all the rules and some stuff on there doesnt seem to apply to my character. for example, i see nothing about a "newbie island" i dont think i started there. my screen did not go black the first time i logged in and start over. also when i double click a place i do not walk there. i either have to walk with the arrow keys or right click and press "walk to". and i have absolutely no idea what to do when i get into the game.

And... as a reply to the above post:
Not all of them are friendly, some are assholes on such terms, but you'll find someone.

Kevin, you got it wrong, Newbie island doesn't exist anymore, it was old client - they use the library now.
My advice is start with a craft - carpentry is good, and earn some money, then start trying to do what you like. Of course in Illarion you don't actually need money - you can just pretend you're filthy rich and wear velvet clothes, and drink wine from golden goblets all day. But if it makes it more authentic, then do it.
Illarion is about roleplay, you pretend to be a charachter, and you act as him or her all the time, you describe your movements and try to get into interesting conversations with others. Depending on your skills you could join an order or guild, and get taught a bit from them, and then become quite active on the island.
However on the island we must make no references to the real world unless when saying it we start all our statements with th #o command.
Need anything else just ask - people try to be helpful, but mostly we learn ingame after a large succession of charachters.

The only thing you had to do there was pick a skill pack, not really a newbie island to me.bellringer wrote:Kevin, you got it wrong, Newbie island doesn't exist anymore, it was old client - they use the library now.

start your message with "#o"
e.g.
the line
would display this whispered message:
e.g.
the line
Code: Select all
#o sorry can you help me?
Code: Select all
((sorry can you help me?))

Maybe they should bring back Newbie island. That way we can keep people who just come in to spam our games and attack random people (("I thought you were a CP")). It would also give people who don't understand parts of the manual/can't load it (or don't know it exists...) a chance to understand it.
Just my two cents.
Just my two cents.
