i don't remember, how old the book is. but even the film must be about 85 years.
so you can't expect the kids to know about it.

Well, it still doesn't say we have to do it the old way.
It seems rather lame to me honestly, sucking and sucking till it dies.

most people would play vampires very noobish and the #I'm a vampire but i'm very emotional and handsome# would become common to illarion. this happens everytime vampires are implemented somewhere. whatever. i could imagine a crazed moshran follower drinking the blood of his victims and such - without being a vampire.

But as Samantha Pointed out, There are still people playing into it. People who are calling themselves vampires.

Well, Vampirism was ruled out. But there is nothing to say of another evil cult that feeds on the blood of others, thinking it could restore their own life.

There are rumors about a few powerful vampires under his command, but until now, none of the stories about such creatures have proven to be true.
As said, they don't exist in illarion but it seems the information is there. I don't see how it isn't plausible for someone to THINK they are a vampire and not truly be one. They can have the foils of one, but the powers aren't there.

yeah! thats it! they pretend to be vampires, until we got IG shrinks!
and they vomit each time, they taste the salty flavour of fresh blood, get drunk, because they cant get rid of the unique sticky feeling in the throat, that is so repulsive to the still living....
#me sharpens teeth, to have a stroll in the village, and get drunk on the lovely blood of an untouched young virgin

But Meriel can still fondle his skull

				Caldrion Sternenglanz,
wrong!
i can show a log, where a couple of chars attest, that Gudrun is still in the PMS phase....
but anyhow, i loooove vampires..... in a victorian setting. (where they belong and where they fit)

I also like vampires in a modern setting. Just not in Illarion. They just don't really fit into a medieval fantasy setting.

Since you cannot choose half-elves, there are no half-elves.
Since we have and always had many players running around as half elves, the definition is as follows :
If humans and elves breed - which usually should happen quite rare - and if any offspring comes from that - usually it just does not work or the birth is a failure - then it is either human OR elf.
Fully.
And the char is exactly the char race that was chosen when creating the character.
So, some may call themselves "half elves", but technically they have all traits of the one race they play.
---
Any char playing a vampire or halfsomething(dragon/demon/mushroom/whatever) or were-something is quite likely to get a permanent ban.
Same counts for monster races.

that was played until now. just that those than play also slight signs of their halfbreed, like ears too pointy for a human, or an elf with less androgyn face structures.

No illarion description describes elf faces as "androgyn"...
We use the tolkien-ish elf picture, remember

you mean like the fat elven warrior of helms klamm?
but 90 % of all half breeds i met ingame were human race with pointy ears and slightly elven facestructures
