Well, the second problem is your own to worry about, and the first problem is a simple answer. You don't. You should be trained by a knowing person. I have simply eliminated the ability to constantly powerplay the skill gain.
We could also include thieving puppets (scarecrows) on which you train and can only reach a certain skill with that. They have like bells and such, so you know if you success or not etc. And fighters can train on each other... but I like the puppet thing best.

very akward if someone caught you next to the scarecrow.
Well, this was omly an example, so everybody knows what i'm talking about ,) we could use the same graphic .P and place one in a dark corner or such ,)
#me looks at your items
#you seems to have a bla bla bla
#me moves close to him, and pulls out his bla
#you *drops item on the floor* doesn't seem to notice
#me pockets it and runs away

Eh, I wasen't refering to you but good point. Galthra, Retlak, Gort, and others that I I won't name were the bandits I meant. We did cloud people when they attacked first or yelled for help witch was quite often. Banditing was quite proffitable and affective with a decent group.
especially since you abused the bug by which the killed one loses EVERY item. while that bug was active robbing with killing the other one was most common
and i gave you back your items, or doesnt even taking them. so what? your post is meaningless compared to the topic we spoken about. its just bitching.
and you are exaggerating again. what you do very often.
and a thieving skill is good
maybe we should handle it like with magic
a few responsible players get the skill and can teach them to others
well...look like it is with the magic academy. it has a nice start, but in the last week there werent much lessons. not that i noticed them. maybe there were and it was just told nowhere.
but i fear since silas left, the academy will become inactive. because all the other teachers are seldome ig., the only ones you can meet often enough are Duchan and Djironnyma. But djironnymas english is not well enough to teach chars from english speaking players. and Duchan is...well...giggling too much to teach
afaik there are enough players who attemp to play a thief or gave this up because it's not worth the trouble
it would atleast also be a possibility to found some kind of thieveryacademy or better called thiefguild
there was once a tiefguild but i think it became inactive because soon they became too active and known. open robbing, open running around as thiefs, and so on. a thief guild will turn unplayable the moment its members start to do too much trouble and became too famous. and that will happen fast because not every member of the guild will be able to play a thief well enough
People would learn to roleplay as they get better in thieving. That way a good thief, would probably be an experinced roleplayer. Let us say that a noob thief can steal like 5 cp. Combine that with strict punishment if you get caught, and having to learn the skill from a couple of responsible roleplayers (good idea), and I think you have a thieving skill. At least one have to do somthing diferent, as noone really play thieves. (i know there is a couple of them...)
Galvin wrote:That wouldn't stop new players from doing it, the would do it, then do the RuneScape thing of transfer it to another acount as fast as possible...
New idea, only selected people can redeem that skill?
