I think looting large things should be #me'd, but I also feel that the decay time is WAY too fast and aside from peoples' greed, it contributes to the OOC looting. I mean, you can't do any RPing with everything rotting so fast. By the time the scene is half over, everything has rotted. Things should stay longer...at least long enough to RP sometimes with items out.
As an example...a picnic...with a candle, cutlery, plates, mugs, bowls, etc...Presently, that is impossible because everything would rot before the picnic is half over.
That isn't even including drops when you die. I mean...if you die around mindless undead minions, your items should still be there when you (or a person you might hire) returns unless somebody came and looted your body in the meantime. It's not like the undead had any need for it or the mental capacity to grab it and take it somewhere...
I have never witnessed anything metal rotting and decaying within 15 minutes...It's quite hilarious in fact. Especially if the rotting applied to when you were wearing or wielding it. Picture this...You buy a sword or armor, and as soon as you buy it, it starts to rot or rust, and within 15 minutes, it has decayed so much that it is unusable...and that's not even taking into account the time the store had it after it was made...
I guess I am just suggesting an extension of the decay time. It would help deter mid battle loots of full plate armor because if the delay were longer, it could be said that things like that should be RPed appropriately. As it is now, there is no other alternative to OOC looting because if you waited until a reasonable RP time, it would have rotted already.
