What Illarion Needs
Moderator: Gamemasters
I read this thread yesterday, so sorry if a few ideas are repeated...
I can't comment on the Roleplay or Dynamic entity standards, since I'm not around... but I don't really like the idea of giving people stuff so they can work.
Illarion, isn't a NORMAL game, normal games get boring after a while. Giving people 50 ores, and tools to work with is damaging for the economy, its also downright stupid in my opinion. The best parts of Illarion, where when I was brand new, and I had spent 2 months asking around trying to find out which was the mysterious other material I needed to make a shield. There is also a certain pride in being able to find things out for myself, and another pride in being able to afford the tools I needed.
Since Martin removed the account system, our only filter for quality is how persistant a character is in wanting to get along. A player joins in, and leaves the next day... no great loss. But a player who can go up against all odds, and actually persist in Illarion, will learn the meaning of Roleplaying. So its the willpower of that player which will determine whether he will succeed or not.
Personally, my first day in Illarion, my roleplay was rather stupid. Still, by some co-incidence, that day they were holding a "dance contest", and when I saw that much roleplay, THEN i became convinced.
I don't think we need to help N00bs get over the in-game mechanics, Illarion is a ROLEPLAYING game after all. THe most we could give them the way to USE the tools (Shift+Click and stuff), but not where to obtain them, that they have to ask around IG.

Medieval Minded:
I think if everyone was medieval minded, half of the players would be too scared to do anything, for fear that they end up missing a finger, hand or head. Rebellions against the lords normally lead to heads on spikes. I don't think this is the solution for Illarion.
I concurr with the public executions idea
I also agree with Liles on the quest-cow... but she has to be polka-dotted
My 2 cents.
