The Hamlet of Greenbriar has declared neutrality in the 'war' against the Temple. Any Undead or predators in Briar shall be slain for the protection of our citizens and visitors, but mortal members of either side shall not be harmed unless they break our laws.
We will not side with Trollsbane, Silverbrand, their allies or the Temple in this 'war'.
I have expressed grievances about all sides in a separate letter, and have found neither side convincing enough that would warrant becoming involved in this 'war'.
May sanity and peace spread soon,

We would like to welcome Delorges Rugend as a citizen and William Macdonough as a dual-citizen.
Delorges is a solicitor (Lawyer) and William has offered to serve in our Militia.
I'd also like to announce that an army of three intelligent skeletons invaded Greenbriar today, leaving chaos in their wake. Fortunately they have left, leaving only minor denizens here. I advise all citizens to seek safety in doors and let the Police and Militia do what they can.

Aye,
I killed another of them yellowbelly mummies south o' town today. The Briar is safe for now.
Also wanna welcome Ssafar as a deputy. He'll be helpin' me stomp on these stinker's.
Sorry, Dusty. I was sleepin' off a late night when them skeletons came. Sounds like not much I coulda done by myself against 'em anyways. We may need ta think about callin' tha Militia if they show their faces agin. Were they from this Temple I keeps hearin about?

Hmm...Good question Alex,
I don't really know. They didn't identify themselves. Just spoke and threatened the citizens, but they were acting in unison. I ran inside of the nearest house as fast as I could.
If they were from the 'Temple', there may be merit to joining a war against them, if only the other nations would only agree to unite instead of fighting each other.
You're doing a great job though. We'll keep defending the Isle against undead, but we'll stay neutral in this 'war' as long as we can. If the Temple brings the war to us, so be it. The Militia will then be activated.

I got word from a elf today that Nalzaxx had gotten portals to Greenbriar. So i took a stroll down there and found some undead. Just wanted to tell everyone to stay indoors or send me a dove.

We were honored by a visit from Brother Darius today. Although we could not commit to fighting, we did agree that anyone suffering or hurting from this 'war' Trollsbane is in with the 'Temple' may find refuge in Greenbriar should they need it.
We would also like to welcome Tjalf Kormson as a new citizen. Tjalf is a local human farmer, and he is a little hard of hearing. When talking to him, people should either shout or use hand signals. He is a wonderful fellow and has also volunteered to serve on our town council as an Alderman. Congratulations.
The undead threat is still lurking in Gobiath, but let us hope the Briar stays unsullied by this war. We will do what we can to protect it and stay Neutral, but again, if anyone sees skeletons or undead, please go indoors and lock the door.
Thank you,
~Dusty Bottoms, Mayor~

We would like to welcome Harkilo Drogas and Faladron Furnir as citizens of Gobiath per their request.
They are new to this land and I ask everyone to welcome them.
I have also adjusted the treasury totals to reflect this week's 'donations'.
We are also asking for donations of weapons and swords to start an armory for the Militia and Police. To date, we have several pieces of plate, leather armor, about 8 swords and several shields and helmets. I will get these supplies to Alexander, who will administrate them as Sheriff.

~A note is nailed on the Board for all to see~
People of 'Greenbriar',
I am Captain of the "Ghost", a ship anchored off of your shore. I see that there is danger on your island and I wish to help you before it is too late. The Volcano to your south has erupted but is not yet done. Your Village is in Danger.
I offer safety to any of your villagers who wish to escape. I will send a longboat tomorrow evening, and any who wish safe passage to the ship, simply meet me there and you'll be considered my 'guests'.
I shall return to these shores once the danger has passed.
Sincerely,
~Henry Morgenstern, Captain of the "Ghost"~
((We will RP that your character is on the ship and hence 'immune' to danger on Briar at this time, by not residing there but on the Ship. You may continue journeys around Gobiath IG and we will assume the ship drops you off and picks you up along the coasts at specified spots. We can start an RP thread about experiences on the "Ghost"))

written by the peddlar tom:
i, tjalf kormson, counceler of greenbriar inform of the following:
just south of grennbriar hmlet, and north of the bridge to the new dark area there are two similar buildings.
mainly consisting of four colums, in the middle something like a downstairs ladder.
i tried it out.
they are magery! you enter one building, and get out at the other!
that means, the enemy is prctically just south of the hamlet.
no time for warnings, if they decide to advance on the village.
therefor, and in the absence of the mayor, who is still abroad, and without any contact with my fellow counceller, Neela Rabenfeder, i decree the following:
each and every citizen should considerate to go into exile.
the goverment of greenbriar is not in condition, to protect the citizens.
who wants to stay, does this knowing, he will not be aided by nobody.
though i strongly commend, not to take the offer of that forein ships captain. i heard rumors, that our enemies heve been brought by just this ship.
having no contact with neither the sheriff, nor any military authorities of our country,
i declare the forces of greenbriar disbanded temporarly. (till the return of the town mayor)
- and I bid those, able to fight, to join other forces, opposing the enemy.
rumors tell, that the counceller Neela Rabenfeder might be found at the monastry, or east of it.
i, myself will travel as long as possible between greenbriar, the new border, the monastry and trollsbane to gather news about the situation.
may the gods be with our country, it needs them now.

Friends,
I have just this evening returned to Greenbriar. I have updated myself on the happenings and read all possible dispatches. I have also had some communication with this Captain as well.
Of all of the issues and possiblilties, I hereby recommend the following:
Any citizens not of warrior ability, should seek exile in a town of their choosing until this crisis has passed. The auction planned for the 9th of Ronas is postponed until safety can be restored.
The Militia, as Alderman Tjalf has already wisely decreed, is relieved of their duties, and is hereby disbanded for now. The Sheriff and police will continue to patrol Greenbriar and enforce our laws, but no action will be taken by our citizens to attack this danger to our south. Greenbriar does not condone this menace, but we are too few to antagonize it. This danger is beyond our understanding and ability for now. We must live in its shadow for now.
However, any individual, group or Nation that wishes to 'combat' this threat is welcome and shall be reimbursed in food, weapons, or armor as available in Greenbriar, but Greenbriar must remain passive, we may bear any danger caused by these actions as it is.
That said, I and Alexander will remain in Greenbriar to safeguard those who stay as best as we can, and recompense, aid and assist those who challenge this danger. I have also struck a deal with the Captain of the ship to convey Rosy and others who wish to other lands.
I will continue to look after Greenbriar, increase her wealth and observe this danger. May Oldra and Irmorom bless and protect you all.
Signed,
~Dusty Bottoms, Mayor~

AT LAST!
welcome back, mayor dusty!
you can not even start to understand, how happy i am, tu put the leadership of our town back in your hands!
when i decipherd your anouncement, i started, to look for you around the village.
then i went south, to fight the enemy in my way.
i planted three appletrees as near to the devastated zone, as possible.if we are lucky, the trees might help, to dry the swampy land.
i found me a stranger to write these lines.

Faladron Furnir has donated a sizable and very generous contribution to aid Greenbriar in it's defense. Many staves, wands, shileds and coin.
He then requested to be removed from our citizen's list, not due to malice or conflict, but because he is departing to fight the danger in the south.
He expressed his love for the Briar and the peace he found here. His spirit will forever remain here. We shall honor his contribution and never forget all the lives affected by this 'curse' on the land.
In Memory of Faladron Furnir,

to whom it concerns:
the lizzard man Ssafar Zakarrr has asked peoples opinions about the possible war between the town of Trollsbane and the kingdom of Silverbrand.
the mentioned individual is member of the temporarily disbanded defense forces of the Green Briar.
But:
the Green Briar is strictly neutral, concerning other lands politics.
the mentioned Ssafar Zakarrr has damaged our neutrality.
his points of view do NOT represent the official politic of our land.
so:
first - i apologize in name of the Green Briar for this missbehavement of one of our officials.
second - i recommend that the mayor of Gren Briar withdraws the commissions the lizzardman Ssafar Zakarrr holds in the defense forces of the Green Briar.

I am devastated by your message sir. I am neutral. Infact, I am in the water. I visit some times to check what is happening. After a few more weeks I shall return. So I asked how many people vote for Ghorn and Stephen? I thought about supporting Stephen but.. now I changed my mind. I dont want the war. We have enough problems already! I only had the voting to see the opinions of people. I thought Stephen would quit the war seeing the number of people supporting Ghorn. I thought Ghorn would quit seeing the number of people supporting Stephen. Get this through your head sir, I would not wield the sword any time unless the person in danger was from the lizard city or a citizen from Green Briar.
second - i recommend that the mayor of Gren Briar withdraws the commissions the lizzardman Ssafar Zakarrr holds in the defense forces of the Green Briar.

Disbanded? Bloody Alderman I recieved no commision!
I am in the water and it would be a shame to recieve commision without working. I demanded no commision!!!! Take me out of the job! If you want to!!!
I just asked an opinion!!!!!! Where did you see the words I will attack!! True, I did support Stephen but I withdraw!
If a citizen of Green Briar cannot have a personal life then why live there!!!!
first - i apologize in name of the Green Briar for this missbehavement of one of our officials.
Misbehavement!!!!!!!!
Dusty why in the world did you hire this person as a alderman!

dear Mr. Zafarrr,
by voting for one of the sides in a possible conflict, you, at that time being an official of Green Briar, broke our neutral position.
allthough i, personally, look on you as a friendly person, whose company i hold dear, i am sad, to have to explain to you, that trying to influence a conflict of other nations - even if borne by the most noble intentions - is not neutrality.
and further, i must point out, that using your titles, your rank/commission in our forces as part of your signature of that unfortunate document of yours, your opinion did not look like a personal point of view, but like an official statement of a representative of the Green Briar.
this is my official view of this affair. and if the mayor, or a mayority of our citizens should think, that my point of view is not in accordance with our politics i would not mind, to be liberated of the burden of being alderman.

Ssafar,
Alderman Tjalf is quite correct. The rank of Captain is temporarily disbanded and should not be used as a title just now.
As a deputy, you are beholden to uphold the laws and policies of Greenbriar, determined by the Town Council, which I, Tjalf and Neela are a member of.
As a 'dual-citizen' you're primary loyalties are with your people, and you may express your opinions as you wish. Nothing wrong with that, however, representing yourself as our 'deputy', also places Greenbriar's 'stamp of approval' on anything you say. We can not allow this in this our time of greatest danger. We have several Dangers to consider. The town Council has already declared Neutrality in the Trollsbane/Silverbrand War, also in the War against the Temple, and must remain passive, yet supportive concerning the 'Hellbriar'. Three dangers that you may have compromised by signing your dispatches to other nations as 'Captain' and 'Deputy' of Greenbriar.
You are hereby relieved as Deputy of Greenbriar and Captain of Greenbriar Militia. I will pay you for your services up to now as soon as I can meet you.
I am still your friend and I will continue to hope for your success, but I must act for the good of Greenbriar.
Your friend,

mayor bottoms, fellow members of the counsil,
hearing about the beginning controversals about the registry for merchants in trollsbane, i think, we should not follow suit. as we dont plan, to collect taxes, we should confide in peoples desire for being free in their own decisions.
if we maintain a fremarket in our hamlet, we soon will have a lot of vendors and buyers.
regulation always brings opposition.
i think, that we, the land of greenbriar, will be able to raise enough funds, if the hamlet itself will buy and sell goods.
the druids, the farmers association and even the harbour are not too far from our village.
there is nothing else south or west of trollsbane, where one can buy or sell.
if this counselling goes on, i think i will have to learn to write by myself.

I agree. However, the registry is information only it seems, rather than limiting trade. I don't think we need anything like this either.
The treasury is growing in my capable hands and I am also currently negotiating a 'mutual defense treaty" with Varshikar. I will post details as soon as they are recieved on the council board.
The treaty of friendship is still being reviewed by the Lizards as well. No progress yet.
I would also like to announce an agreement with a private party to possibly construct another village on the Isle called "Caelum", north of the bridge. It's open land and useless to us for now. I need to discuss it with the Council on our board, but basically, they will operate as an independent village, much like our own, no interference with us, and we'll create some sort of 'county' government with a representative from each village to handle 'outside' of Briar affairs. I think it's a great idea and will further populate the Isle, even increase trade and manpower. I have told them to move forward with the project. We can discuss some more later as the project progresses. Send me a dove if anyone has a major problem with this. Thanks.
