With the elves, they only got so far as suggestions, if I remember correctly.

Damien looked at them, and commented, but I think that was as far as it went.

Well, thanks Garett. Really a valuable post *sighs*

You're most welcome.

@Shandariel (and whomever else it may concern):

Okay, so first let's just get all of this straight. Today, Japheth and I went ingame to Varshikar and looked around and decided to rebuild and construct several features. Why? Because, with no offenses meant, it looked dismal, boring and inadequately furnished (i.e. static tools in the workshop).

Japheth and I therefore took it upon ourselves to fix this. Sometimes this happens. It's mostly a result from having a desperatley inactive settlement, which Varshikar has become. It's true that we would almost always prefer expansion that has a lot of quest support. But at the moment, Varshikar has become so unattractive that it just seems like another corner of the desert, instead of an actual settlement. :P

But before you start screaming, "That's not fair! It's the same case for Tol Vanima, and Silverbrand, and Greenbriar!" I'll just tell you that I've spent many, many afternoons wandering around all of these places and trying to think about how to physically improve them. They have all, very honestly, been in my thoughts for a long time now, and sometimes if you look closely, you can indeed spot little changes from time to time.

Now about proposals. What we usually hear is, "Okay, our city needs this, and this, and these, and this, and maybe a this-thing." Okay, that's fine. But please remember first of all that: 1- Sometimes these things don't always improve activity at all in the city and 2- We must then go ingame, look around, survey the area, check for the best space, and spend time arranging (so that you don't get a sudden gemcutter in the middle of the street, for example). :P
Player feedback wrote:"Well, we don't care where it is, we just need it."
Are you sure about that?

Since so many non-Trollsbane cities are becoming almost abandoned now, I'm trying to start adding some features to each without the use of quests. Not many at all, but it seems like they all need a small push. Of course, if you think of quests and perform them as our lovely brotherhood of orcs are doing right now, things will be added much more quickly according to your wishes.

Last thing. Regarding proposals for Vanima, I don't remember seeing very many definite proposals in the last few months besides someone requesting a single sheep. I could be wrong, but please show some links if I am. Vanima is also a problem sometimes just because there is an important RP value for the balance between "development" and the amount of forest space on the island.

Sorry for the long drawn-out post, but I tried to keep it to a minimum. See how many things need to be considered? :P

Entirely true, but as to speak for myself, I am rather..."afraid" to ask as to not look greedy and all. I have this sense very quickly.

Rinya, there was a Ig and an OOG one i think on the old Vanima boards.

Mainly
-farmland
-animals
-cross
-fountain

and other such smaller things.

Why does a non-violent land need a cross?

The other stuff is easy, (well sheep not so much) but do you want a fountain or a well? Fountains are nice to look at, but I wasn't aware they were particularly useful.

Yes. We had that whole list on the old vanima board and diskussed it. together with damien, who is responsible for constructions on Vanima.

But, well...nothing happened :(

Yes, and I do understand that. We sometimes actually do appreciate the self-awareness to keep yourselves from badgering. But really, as Nitram mentioned on another thread: we're not monsters here to eat you. Personally to me, if you PM me with reasonable/practical proposals, that have a pretty big "range of helpfulness" to a lot of characters, and some very good backup arguments defending your reasons, I would be more than happy to put your idea(s) into action. It's okay as long as you remember your logical limit on badgering a GM about proposals. We do have molotovs.

Edit- Thank you all for the lists. I will keep them bookmarked, and get to work with them as soon as RL permits.

Edit2-

I was thinking almost the same as Papo. First of all, I haven't really been fond of the fountain graphic personally. Sorry. However, since Vanima already has a sort of freshwater supply near the main settlement, perhaps a fountain would be fine because the well wouldn't be needed.

And where would you want your fountain?

Um, but please also regard our discussion about it. best would be to ask the new elders about what is needed and where ^_^. They are discussing that at the moment ingame.

Also, the reason that I don't see Vanima as being necessarily worthy of two GMs having to go in-game to "save it" is because of its state. It has many amenities, and people play there frequently. It's incredibly active and always looked physically fine, to a degree. Most of the things we did to Varshikar were aestethic with a few more tools thrown in for good measure. Besides, as somebody said upthread, most of the stuff was already paid for, such as the farmland, by Quinasa and company.

Simply thank you Gm's exactly what i wish to see has occured and varshikar has become a viable place to roleplay in my eyes. It really looks great and has the tools needed to do things around it.
I look forward to spending time rping in the area

And just to stop Shandariel whining, we want downstairs in Vanima and made it more user friendly. You can also find some farmland on Vanima if you look hard enough.

I feel like saying something to Vanima at this place, since I like to play there as often as possible.

Of course, you do not have as much roleplay there as in TB. I would not call it regular either, since it is only sometimes.
Still, I am trying to be there as often as I can and some times even find some elf to talk to. :)

The new cellar is really good, but the whole island is only really usable for carpenters.

I would call is just normal that only TB has regular roleplay (and with regular I mean more than 3 people every day...) since Illarion has not as many players as other games. If everyone would sit in his own town there would be no roleplay and no trading, so do not try to bring life into other places too hardly, it will not work without more players, anyway.

Bringing more players is already being discussed, and the game has to be working the way they want it when people start playing. Its only natural for the gamemasters to want to bring life to the towns they've created so don't tell them not to try. That's just insensative toward all the work they and the players have done. There can be 'regular' roleplay everywhere.

Flame me *gg Hell, why do some people always think that proposing something is against the gamemasters work? See that in nearly every topic.

Anyway, I was not trying to be offensive, since I know the work they do and think they do it very well.

The REAL problem is - that Illarion doesn't allow people create and demolish their own buildings. An ingame map editor is a must. Then cities will grow, and wars will unleash. Yum.

Not entirely true. The VMA building has recently been extended and refurbished with a little help from some friendly GM's.
A map editor freely available to all would be a disaster. Everyone and his/her granny would be building big houses all over the place which would serve no purpose.
RP and interraction create conflicts and wars, not pretty pixels on a map!
