Mystery of Dyluck...

Post by Sabrina »

For the first few days she had huddled in the corner fearful of what events may be.

Several times she had failed an escape and after so long the beatings no longer seemed to hurt as bad, yet only made her will stronger.

She would escape somehow.. someway..

She only hoped Jhereg had waited for her and Dyluck was well.. or atleast as well as he could be.

She would see her friends again and that she vowed in blood.

( Love you guys! Seeya in a few )

Mystery of Dyluck...

Post by Dyluck »

After searching the streets for almost an hour, Dyluck finally decides to give up. 'My eyes must have been playing tricks on me...i should get more sleep' he thought to himself. The rain was still pouring heavily and another thunderclap roared from the skies. He looks up and notices the full moon, but there was something different...the moon seemed to have a reddish color and there were more stars in the sky than usual...a feeling of terror grips his body. "I know this feeling...it must be him...he's alive...and even stronger...."

Mystery of Dyluck...

Post by Dyluck »

After listening to Neonfire's boring stories and drinking some of Geld Geld's orchish wine, I began to fall asleep. But right before my eyelids became too heavy, I remembered seeing Sabrina waving to me and saying that she would be headed out to the desert.

When I woke up again, Geld Geld told me that Sabrina still hadn't returned from the desert. Worried, I decided to set out to the desert and search for her. Geld Geld offered to come along as an opportunity to get some exercise for her pet flies. After a long walk (mainly due to Geld Geld's pets slowing us down), we made it to the desert and found Sabrina lying there on the sand. I picked her up in my arms and called to her but she did not answer. She must have been not well prepared and fallen unconcious under the extreme heat of the desert. I decided that I would have to carry her back to town so i carefully picked her up in my arms. I began to head back to town when I looked behind me and saw that Geld Geld had lost control of her pet flies. They flew towards me angrily and with Sabrina in my arms i began to run as fast as I could while Geld Geld tried desperately to hold them back.

After running for what seemed like forever, I finally lost the flies and made it back to town safely with the still unconcious Sabrina. I carried her into the abandoned house in the gardens south of the library and lay her down on some soft sheets to let her rest. I went downstairs to look for some blankets when I saw Geld Geld again. She had finally regained control of her pets and put them in the shop. Geld Geld gathered some firewood to keep Sabrina warm while she slept. Geld Geld did some cooking and offered me some food and drinks but I did not have the appetite to eat despite being very tired from carrying Sabrina and running all the way from the desert. After Geld Geld left, I found another blanket, put it on top of Sabrina tucking her in and found myself gazing at the beautiful slumbering face...

Later that night Dyluck woke up. The fire had burnt out and Sabrina was still sound asleep next to him. Just then I heard a sound from below. I peered down the window and saw a shadow entering the house. Thinking it might be a thief or someone sent to kill us, I grabbed my sword and soundlessly crept towards the ladder. I looked down to see the assailant was right below. I jumped down the ladder with the sword raised above my head, ready to bring it down on the attacker when i noticed he was no taller than my knees. I shone an oil lamp at the creature to find that it was only a pig. I rubbed my eyes and grumbled to myself. Relieved I went back upstairs to get some more sleep...

Mystery of Dyluck...

Post by Sabrina »

She awoke sometime during the night. Where was she?! She sat bolt upright looking around in alarm terror gripping her heart, then all at once she felt the fear drain from her replaced by a warm glow of fondness for the man whom sat asleep in a chair looking over her.
She remembered being in the desert.. then.. nothing.
Whatever had happened he must have cared for her.
The moonlight shown through the window basking the room with it's lovely silver hand.Coals glew in the fireplace and the wind was gentle. It was so peaceful it was almost a dream.... well except Dylucks snoring of course.

She slid from the bed kneeling before the man studying his face. Even in his sleep he seemed troubled. She placed a soothing kiss on his cheek before rising and gathering her things.

She only hoped he would understand her leaving.. she would remember his gesture of friendship and pay it back.

A smile lights her face at a memory.. or maybe she will just forget about that jumping out of the way incident.

with the final resolve she slipped from the house..as an after thought she left a finiris blossom on his doorstep.

Mystery of Dyluck...

Post by Dyluck »

He looked up into the sky as he tiptoed out of his quarters. Not even dawn yet. But he would have to set out early so he could make it back by nightfall, as to not attract too much attention. He didn't really want to leave the academy for long, but he had to at least try and find him. He had to find him and tell him, to get the burden off his chest....

'I remember he was heading to the east....' thought Dyluck 'I'll just search the closest town I can find there. Should be able to make it there and back in a day..."

And so he set off, trudging across the fields and swamps past the forests heading east. He paced himself very quickly to make good time, and shortly after dawn he arrived at a small but busy little town. The town was inhabited by mostly be  gnomes and other little peoples. They all went about their business selling various foods while performers filled the streets with their music and juggling acts. Drumrolls echoed through the town square as a little gnome performed the astounding act of swallowing a sword. The crowed gasped in amazement and clapped estatically as he pull the sword back out unharmed. One of the friendly merchants saw him and recognized that he was a visitor to the town and gave him a little drum as a gift.

Dyluck pushed his way through the crowds of audiences and merchants, describing to them the person he was looking for but no one had seen him. After asking around for hours, he finally decided to go to the town tavern to take a break. He found a small round table at the corner and sat down. As he sipped his drink, he noticed a crowd at a nearby table. He walked over to find a woman sitting there crying unstoppably while her friends and some others nearby trying to comfort her. The tavernkeeper walked over and offered her a free drink but she still kept crying as he stepped back and sighed.

"What's wrong with her?" Dyluck asked the tavernkeeper.
"Sigh....that poor woman" replied the tavernkeeper. "Two days ago, her little boy ran into the Misty Forest and no one has seen him since..."
"The Misty Forest"? asked Dyluck, not understanding.
"Eh? You're not from around these parts are you?" replied the tavernkeeper.

At the base of the mountains to the northeast is a forest always shrouded in mist. That was how it got its name, explained the tavernkeeper. A huge ferocious dragon lived in that forest. Legend has it that long ago when the Bone Lord's demons stole some of Bragon's Dragon eggs, they had to leave one behind as they were being persued by Bragon's forces. No one ever found it, nor did the demons come back for it, and that was how there came to be a dragon in that forest they say. The dragon never came out of the forest to harm anyone but many people tried to slay the dragon. Some did it for glory while others thought the dragon had a treasure, but none of them who went it ever came out again.

Since then no one has dared to enter the Misty Forest, nor did the dragon ever come out. Until two days ago that is, no one knows why but the dragon came out of the forest suddenly and trashed the eastern side of the town furiously as if searching for something. Then after a short rampage it went back to the forest but a curious little boy followed it and the rest of the townsmen only stood there, afraid to go after the boy. When the mother of the boy found out what happened she broke into tears.

Dyluck decided that he would have to do whatever he could to help the poor woman find her son. It was still early, he still had time, he would just take a look into the MIsty Forest. The others thought he was crazy when they heard him, but he was determined to go. He picked up his belongings and set out to the Misty Forest and made it there by the late afternoon. He walked around for about an hour but found nothing and was about to give up but just then he heard a sound in the distance. He followed it and came upon a small clearing where the little boy sat crouched with his back against the tree scared stiff as the dragon stood towering over him, looking at him. Instinctively Dyluck summoned the most powerful icebolt he could muster and sent it flying towards the dragon hoping to catch it by surprise, but the dragon saw it at the last moment and turned as the ice crashed into his right wing, shrieking in pain. Furious the dragon turned around and hurled a huge breath of fire towards him. He cast another ice beam to counter the fire just as he fell back. The dragon lunged at him and swiped at him with its claw, Dyluck barely managed to raise his shield to block it as it was swiped away. In the confusion of the battle, the little boy ran off while the dragon was distracted. Dyluck realized that he did not stand a chance against the dragon so he fired another icebolt at the dragon before running to a nearby cave to hide.

With the dragon prowling near the entrace, he had no other choice but to go deeper into the cave to serach for another way out. He walked down the cave with an oil lamp following a series of tunnels until he finally reached a huge cavern where a single beam of light shone from a hole in the ceiling down onto an enormous egg. He stood there looking at the egg, wondering what creature it might be when he heard a sound coming from one of the tunnels. Suddenly a huge demon like serpent with horns and fiery red eyes emerged hissing at him. He ran into another tunnel as fast as feet would carry him with the demon-serpent close behind. He ran and ran and finally found an exit that led back outside, but the serpent was gaining on him. As he ran back into the forest outside he turned around just to see the demon-serpent about to pounce on him when the dragon appeared from the side and jumped onto the demon-serpent. The two creatures struggled with each other, the dragon not having the advantage it would have had, due to its injured wing. They fought each other to the edge of a deep ravine where the demon-serpent managed to coil around the dragon and spray and venomous acid into its eyes. Blind and furious with pained, the dragon gripped the serpent and stepped back, falling into the ravine with the serpent hissing angrily.

Unable to believe all that had just happened and how closely he had escaped death, Dyluck caught his breath and moved over to the edge of the ravine. He looked over and could not see the body of the dragon or the demon-serpent in the bottomless pit. Not a sound could be heard, they must’ve died. Just then he heard a faint sound, it was a crying sound, it was coming back from the caves. The egg! It must’ve hatched! He ran back inside the cave to the huge cavern and there stood in the cracked open egg a baby dragon.
Dyluck then realized what happened. The serpent-demon must have stolen the dragon’s baby eggs. That’s why the dragon came out of the forest on a rampage near the town, to look for its baby egg.....

When the little baby dragon saw Dyluck, it stopped crying and stared at him curiously. With eyes still fixed on him, the baby dragon crept out towards him. It moved clumsily, as if learning how to walk, it was almost cute. Not knowing what to do, Dyluck took out the small drum and played a little tune.....

Meanwhile, in the Library. Damien unfolds a package, with several old, but restored (or copied) Books in it. One of them immediately catches his attention.
"Wow... This is a copy of the long missed 'Wild Dragons' by Gunther of Ravenwood... quite rare."

Putting the other books on a stack in the room, Damien sits in his armchair, and starts to read:

"Wild Dragons, as legends tell, have grown from the twelve non-recovered eggs that were stolen by Moshran's servant Drargorog, and have been lost while the thief escaped Brágon's Guardians with several other eggs. Since then, these wild, "lesser" Dragons, raised without culture and knowledge of the high Dragons, have undergone several changes in form and size. They seem to have formed different wild races : small, green grassland-Dragons, small tree- Dragons, forest- and sand- dragons, as well as their bigger cousins, the lesser dragon kinds, who grow to a size about three times as large as a human.
These bigger wild dragons seem to have kept some advantages from their races origin, for example, the ability to produce and spit fire, ice, acid, and even other spell-like effects. Showing more intelligence than their smaller wild cousins, they sometimes may perhaps be intelligent enough to be taught a rudimentary languague, if found before leaving their eggs.
More or less, their wild nature makes them hard to tame. Much harder than their smaller cousins, who's intelligence may be located somewhere between a dog and a parrot.
Most trials to use them as weapons failed desastrously, but if killed, some of their body parts can be used to produce mighty magical artifacts. Since most of them eat huge amounts of plants and animals, their hunting grounds are relatively large. Only few have been reported to hunt and eat single human beings, but all don't tolerate intruders in their region.
Wild dragons have been reported to inhabit parts of the abandoned continents. On the islands, they seem to be extremely rare.
Local Legends tell, that somewhere in the far eastern woods of the northeastern mountains on the main isle, a few red, wild dragons breed. I will use this opportunity to watch and study them more closely. Perhaps by bringing food, i may be able to convince them that i am no threat for their breed..."

After finishing the book, much later in the evening, Damien puts it into a shelf with a grin, and finishes the spell that conserves it and binds it to the library.
"Nice and informative writing. And quite sad that it is the last book this Gunther ever wrote in his live... if i'm right, wasn't he missed during one of his journeys ? Well, that teaches us, never disturb a breeding dragon..."

Mystery of Dyluck...

Post by Dyluck »

I have finally found another diary entry from the Magic Academy student from long ago that was researching a few months back. This one seems to be his final entry...
I've taken all the previous entries and compiled them all together into one document so that it may be more easily viewed by anyone interested.

"57SA Time of Golden Leaves 7th day:

Today I finally transferred to the Magic Academy in the Magic City of Ghalaveius. The city is just as beautiful as people said it would be. I was so excited to be here. Already, I have met a new friend, his name is Eltaren. He seems to be interested in research just like me, except that I mainly focus on potions and he focuses on spells. Eltaren tells me that there are lots of talented students at this Academy. That is how Ghalaveius got the name Magic City, because of the Academy. He tells me that someone called Tanya or something is so talented she can create a blossom from a drop of water! Wow! Then I heard this other person called Morgan or something who once made a corpse of a dead person get up and walk around. It scared the hell out of half the students! I hope she did not get suspended or anything hehe. Everything went well today, I hope the rest of my days at the Academy will be just as smooth."

"66SA Time of Great Fire Star 25th day:

I am very happy today. Ever since Eltaren and I obtained the rank of Spirit Knight, we decided that we would start focusing more on our research and spending more time in it. Today our seeds have finally bore fruit. I have just discovered a more powerful healing potion and Eltaren discovered a new spell that could move magical power from one person to another. We were both given awards by the headmaster and we had a huge celebration. This beer really tastes good..."

"66SA Time of Great Fire Star 92nd day

Today Eltaren and I travelled to the annual Magic Fair in the city of Correlus. My new healing potion and Eltaren's new magical energy moving spell attracted a lot of crowds and i got numerous orders to buy my new potions, what a sucess. There were a lot of other great new items and spells as well. I saw an amulet magically made from pure ice, a harp that could put anyone to sleep instantly , a crown that could make the person wearing it completely obedient to the command of others, a pendant that can absorb magic attacks so that the person wearing it won't even feel a thing, a ring that can sense the presence of evil spirits, a dagger that could penetrate any kind of material, a potion which makes things lighter, a spell for a bigger and more explosive fireball, and a spell that can instantly create food. Some of these things seem pretty dangerous, i hope they don't fall into the wrong hands..."

"68SA Time of New Blossoms 54th day

This morning, the city was mysteriously attacked by a swarm of very strong monsters. No one knows where they came from or what their purpose was, except destruction. About 30 people died today, what a tragedy. Even more would have died if it weren’t for the heroics of a handful of students. Among them, 5 students really stood out, they defeated the most powerful monsters that no one else could slay and they saved hundreds of lives. The headmaster has titled them as the first ever Ascended Guardians for their skill and bravery that they displayed. I think one of them was that girl Tanya who made blossoms out of water. That Morgan person contributed a lot too, he would have been titled Ascended Guardian too if it weren’t for a certain incident. A huge powerful fire breathing monster was about kill a group of helpless children on the playground. One of the brave but weaker students charged at the monster in desperation. The monster ignored him and prepared to use his flaming breath on the children. Morgan saw it and knew he had to use a powerful blast to kill the monster, but the blast would kill the student as well. He blasted the monster and the student along with it, in order to save the children. The headmaster considered the killing of a fellow student a dishonorable act. Not only did he not receive the title of Ascended Guardian but he was punished as well. Morgan was furious..."

"70SA Time of Golden Leaves 31st day

Eltaren and I had an argument today. A disagreement began when we were discussing certain topics and theories on our research. I stated that eternal life could only come from drinking a special potion, while Eltaren said that something as incredible as immortality could only be gained by means of a magical spell. I hope Eltaren and I will be able to put aside this dispute soon."

"71SA Time of White Sand 101st day:

Ever since our argument, Eltaren and I have talked and seen each other less and less everyday. He seems to be no longer interested in being my friend, or anyone else for that matter. We both still continue our research, but Eltaren does his research alone and spends many hours confined in his laboratory. I hear that he is working on a spell that can move the spirit or mind from one body to another or something like that. I am working on a potion that can prevent the ghost of the dead from slipping into the next realm. I heard there was a third person who was also doing research on gaining immortality, but no one knows what type of methods he is using. I wonder any of us will really succeed in our research..."

"72SA Time of Golden Leaves 32nd day:

He and his minions have finally brought their rampage to Ghalaveius. He is even stronger than the rumors I heard. The 5 Ascended Guardians were the only ones who could put up a fight but even they seem to have disappeared now. It seems I am the only one alive now. I managed to escape to my laboratory and seal the entrance with a magic barrier so they cannot see it. But his minions still roam around the entrance at the surface, I think they can sense that I am here, and it will only be a matter of time before I run out of mana and my barrier will fall. I have finally completed the potion that can hold my ghost in this realm, but will it really work? Will it have any side affects? Should I drink this potion? When my barrier falls and his minions find me, I will have no other choice but try the potion…"

Mystery of Dyluck...

Post by Dyluck »

After his last drink this evening, Dyluck wipes his mouth and stands up. He bids the bartender farewell and picking up an unusually heavy bag, he leaves the tavern through the door. He heads southwards deep into the quiet forest and finally stops at a clearing. Gathering some wood, he starts a campfire and starts to burn certain herbs, creating a smell which spread throughout the forest. Moments later, rustling in the bushes and strange disjointing sounds can be heard all around Dyluck, numerous shadows surrounding him. One of them attmepts to speak.

"K..Kaa..."
"I've brought a little something for you all, but I doubt if it will even do any good..."
"Ka..Kra...korr"
"You've had the blue ones forever and most of you don't even understand it yet...."
"Kra....."
"Listen carefully. I only have about 100 or so of these, so you better make sure this only goes the best and brightest ones, got it?"
"Ka...Kra.."
"Good....and someday I better see some better results than those club swinging idiots..."

He opens his bag and tosses it into the middle of the clearing. Instanly the figures in the shadows emerge pouncing on the prize. Dyluck stands up and leaves as the campfire burns out. Behind him the figures paw over books with the word "kel" marked on them........

Dyluck waves goodbye to his friend lady Dalia as she boards her ship. She was heading home to visit her mother in a far away continent to the north called Mieu. He watches the ship until it disappears into the horizon. Then he felt hungry, so he decided to sit down by the shore and fish for something to eat. He takes out his lucky fishing rod, puts some bait on it and flings it into the water. A few minutes later he felt something on the line and he pulled it out to reveal a huge trout. One more fish and that should be enough for lunch he thought. He threw the rod back into the water again and a few minutes later he felt something really strong on the line. Wow this one must be a whopper he thought! He pulled on the line as hard as he could until finally something surfaced on the water. It was a man's arm! He pulled the whole body out to reveal a half unconcious man.

"Th..thank you.." the man stammered half dead.

Dyluck helped him up and brought him back to the town. He started a campfire to cook the fish while the man huddled close to the fire with a blanket over him to keep warm. The man wore strange clothes, his tattered clothing seemed to be made from a material that was  foreign to these lands and the design was different from that of the local tailors. The man stared hungrily at the fish so Dyluck offered him some. Some townsfolk nearby began to gather around, looking at the unknown man and his strange attire.....

Mystery of Dyluck...

Post by The Blood Corps »

As he gobbled up his fish, the strange man noticed the people gathering around the campfire and looking at him with wondering eyes. He wipes his mouth and beckons the people to sit down and tells them his story:

My name is Rogarian. As you can probably tell, I'm not from around these parts. I came from a far away country to the north called Romada. I lived a peaceful life with my mother and father as a child. They were farmers, they didn't make much money, but we had enough to survive and we were happy. But for the last 30 years our kingdom has been at war with another country called Edin. The Emperor of Edin and its leaders were power hungry pigs who constantly sought to invade other lands and gain more territory and power. They had many powerful warriors and sorcerers and far greater technology than anyone had every seen and they used it mainly for war. With airships and cannons, their empire spread throughout the north as their armies plowed their way through.

Finally they came to Romada. The Edinian empire was far greater than us in their military size and power but they were very greedy and fought many wars at the same time so only a fraction of their armies came to attack us and we were able to hold them off for 10 years until one day a sicknees spread throughout our country and many people died including the king and the general. The people grew uneasy and the army, without their general, began to crumble at the feet of the enemy. Much territory was lost during the next couple of years until finally the new king took to the throne and convinced a neighboring country, who was an ally but was afraid of the empire, to send its soldiers to fight. With fresh soldiers we managed to push them back, but at the same time a war with the empire ended somewhere else and they were able to send their soldiers here to add to the attack effort.  The empire regained the territory from us that we had recovered and pushed farther into our lands. They took us into slavery and enforced their ways of life and religion on us. They dictated how we should act and dress and built churches and chapels and forced us to worship their one god.

Then one day my village was attacked by surprise by a brigade of imperial soldiers. They came and slaughtered anyone who tried to oppose them and took the rest of us to work in the fields, to cook and clean, and repair their bloody weapons and armour, and set up a base camp here. I was only a child then and my parents were killed that day and from then on I had to work in the fields for them for that was the only trade I knew. For the next 10 years or so we would follow the same routine. Wake up, work in the fields all day, then we would have a short break where we were forced to go to church, and then we worked again until night when they would give us scraps and leftovers for our food. Many tried to go steal food from the kitchens but most were caught and executed. This was how the years passed by.

Then a year came when the harvest was really bad and food was short and some days they didn't feed us. I was really hungry and decided I had no other choice but to sneak into the kitchens. I snuck quietly and made it to the kitchen where I grabbed some food when I heard footsteps coming my way. I was horrified when a figure holding a candle appeared at the door. It was the daughter of the Captain of those soldiers. I thought she would scream and I would be caught for sure but instead she smiled and offered me some food. She told be not to worry and that she would make sure no one else would come through the door and asked me to tell her a bit more about my people. After I told her everything she gave me some more food and told me to give it to my people and come back the next night. I wasn't very sure whether I could trust her but I came back the next night and the night after that and so on. I would talk with her a lot and we began to really enjoy our convesations with each other. Soon we fell in love and I would go to the kitchens earlier and stay there longer and it started to become suspicous.

Finally one day, her father caught us talking in the kitchens and seperated us. She was sent to monastary back in Edin and I was put on a ship with others where we would be sent to another place to do mining. I overheard some of the soldiers saying something about the materials mined here would be used to built some kind of magic fortress and that they were still gathering magical energy. The ship set sail for the mines next morning, but as luck would have it a powerful storm struck the ship and in the confusion many of us were able to escape as the ship tore into pieces. A held onto a piece of the debris from the ship and tried to paddle away as fast as I could.

For a whole week I held on to the piece of wood and drifted along but saw no land until the 7th day. I tried to swim towards it but the current was strong and I was too tired and couldn't quite make it to the shore. Finally my body gave out and I couldn't hold on to the piece of wood any longer. My body flowed downstream under the water and I thought I was a goner for sure but I felt my sleeve get caught in something and i saw that it was a fishing line. I held on to it with what little strength I had left and hoped that whoever was on the other end would pull me up before I ran out of air and so that was what Dyluck here did. This is how I came to be here today.

Blood Corps, what did that have to do with you?
And that seemed like one run-on sentence... slow down, like your other stories.

Mystery of Dyluck...

Post by The Blood Corps »

After Rogarian finished his story, whispers and murmurs could be heard from the crowd gathered around the campfire. They urged him to tell more about the lands to the far north and this is what he said:

Hundreds of years ago there was a long struggle between the countries on the continent to the far north over their territories. Romada and Ioquin were the countries with the strongest armies and they gained the most land from the battles. After the long wars most countries reduced their millitary size to concentrate on recovering the ecomony of their country, except for Ioquin who did not trust the other countries. Edin was a relatively quiet country at the time, located on the eastern edge of the continent. They did not participate in the long war and closed their borders to the other countries and not much was heard from them until 100 years later when they declared war on a kingdom to west called Umar. At first no one really paid attention to them but soon it became evident that it was a huge mistake as they wiped out the Umarian army in less than a week. Rumors of Edin using seige machines and powerful magic never seen before began to spread quickly. Reports of airships as flying beasts in the sky and catapaults as huge monsters hurling flaming rocks confirmed that their technology was without a doubt the best the anyone had ever seen. They continued to move west and invade the other lands and increasing their empire and its powers. Within a few months, all the countries on the continent had been taken over except for Romada, Dalanda, and Ioquin.

There were numerous other rumors about the powers of the Edinian Empire. Some say that had dragons under their command and others say they developed deadly plagues. When I was on the slave ship being sent away to the mines, I over heard some of the soldiers talking. They said that the materials dug from these mines would be contributed to the building of some huge massive magic fortress. It would require a huge amount of metals and an even bigger source of magical energy to power it. They described it as a huge flying fortress with some kind of magical cannon mounted on it, capable of wiping out anything in its path. That's all I managed to learn about Edin's latest weapon, but it sounds horrible enough alreadly. I hope they will never succeed in this frightening merge of metal and magic, for if they do we will all surely be doomed....

Mystery of Dyluck...

Post by Dyluck »

I have finally found another diary entry but the handwriting and paper texture suggests that the author is not the same person as the one that wrote the other ones. After inspecting the contents of this entry, I discovered that the writer of this entry is Eltaren, the former friend and later rival of the first writer. I've also found from this entry that the name of the first writer was Meridius. This diary entry by Eltaren seems to have been written some time before Meridius's final entry and the destruction of the magic city Ghalaveius...

"72SA  Time of New Blossoms 11th day:

Why is my spell not working? What is it that I have missed? If I can transfer magical power with this spell, then following this path, I should be able to create a spell that can transfer the mind or the spirit, but why does it not work? I must finish this spell before Meridius finishes his potion. If I do not finish this spell soon, the master will have my head. I do not want to work for him and his evil intentions, but it is the only way I can get the materials and specimens I need for this kind of research. But perhaps once I finish this spell for him, the master will kill me, for I will have outlived my usefulness. Maybe I should try to create a weakness in this spell just in case…"

Mystery of Dyluck...

Post by Sabrina »

Now with child, many worries fill my head.

When I first met Dyluck, thier ws a great struggle in Illarion. The bone lord wanted him, but for what reasons is unknown other than his power.
He had lost his past, but I grew to love the man he is, not that he was.

Despite our love and his apparent content I have often thought of these things and I know his past still haunts him, eluding the great mage of the answers he seeks the most.

I've spoke with Damien on several occasions for any information or ideas on how I could  help ease my lovers pain. Finally I found a solution buried deep in the library.

It is a potion for the mind, though also a powerful drug. Many used it in the past for holy visions. Perhaps with this I can place Dyluck in a drug induced trance and guide him through his past to destroy what barricades lay there.

I have finally confronted Dyluck about it. He spoke, but his eyes betrayed his words. I know he wanted to try it.
I couldn't test the potion myself due to the pregnancy and fear of hurting the child, I hope it isn't too strong.. or weak for that matter.

He took the potion and fell into a gentle slumber. I was able to use my voice and my touch to confort and guide him keeping his mind in tact as long as I could.

Dyluck seemed yo be at a door, I believe the door was what blocked him from seeing and remembering his past. With some coxing I was able to help him open this door, only to find him terrified of what lay beyond.
The only information I could gather was a familiar man with a mocking grin that frieghtened him. After some time, Dyluck finally followed the man to his beckoning.

I believe it was Dylucks childhood.

He spoke of being next to his parents on a ship then a terrible darkness and everything moved.
He then awoke, but was still childlike in his manner. he did not reconize me or where he was, only shouting for his parents.

I followed him and comforted him. He told me more...

He was on a ship with his parents when the darkness and the loud noise came. Suddenly his parents were gone and he couldn't find them. He was on a ship headed to the fair his father had promised him, it was across the water.

This is all I could find out.. perhaps though, it is something, a beginning.

I pray I am doing the right thing and that one day, I can help my love find what he has been looking for, for so long..

Ever since I saw that vision, I've been trying to remember the face that blocked that door, but it was only a blur. I just coudn't make out that vague almost skeletal face with a mocking grin.

After I finally when through the door, I remembered nothing. Sabrina said I went to my childhood. I was travelling across the sea with my parents on a ship headed for a temple to the godess, but which godess I did not say. My father said we would go to the fair after we had paid our respects to the godess. But then there was a loud noise and everything began to shake and then darkness....

Today I was confronted by a man, in request for me to use a teleportation spell to send him a far distance to sean's location so that he could stay alive by merging with his brother. This spell required an immense amout of energy and I had never tried anything like this before. After much preparation and with the help of some others, I managed to teleport him to his desired location, but the ordeal left me unconcious. In my unconcious state, I saw another vision. Perhaps the effects of the drug hadn't worn off.

This time I saw what was going on. I was no longer a child this time. I was inside a tent standing at a table with maps laid out. Around me were men wearing briliant gold armor with a crest on their armor and cape. They were generals of some sort. They listened obidiently as I was giving orders, and from the way they addressed me, I realized I was a prince. I was ordering them to march an army to a castle in a seige. One of the men was wearing a cloak to conceal his face. I told him to kill the king by putting poison in his wine. I seemed to enjoy the thought of that. The man noded and left, escorted by a few guards. The vision began to fade...

When I awoke again, Sabrina told me I spoke of these things in my unconsiousness. I knew what she was talking about, but I denied it and pretended not to know. If this vision was my past, I did not want to admit it, for it was rather unpleasant knowledge to know I was killing someone and enjoying it

But if both visions were truly from my past, how did I go from a little child on a ship who lost his parents, to a heartless prince leading armies and assasinating kings, to the founder of a magic school in a small town?.....

Not only princes can command Generals of some kind.. a higher general, or tactical fleet commander, can also. Whatever you did, you did with a reason. But sometimes, it may be better to let the past sleep. It may be that you wanted to forget something...

I found I was a prince in the vision because of how they addressed me. They called me "my prince". Of course there's no way of knowing the accuracy of the vision...

By the way, that was just a recollection of thoughts to myself, so forget everything when I count to 3 :) 1, 2, 3...

Mystery of Dyluck...

Post by Dyluck »

He pushed through the branches of the thick underbrush as he followed the trail that he remembered only by heart. Dyluck holds up a hand over his eyebrows, peering at the evening sky. The Misty Forest was shrouded in mist as usual, and through the fogginess he could see that it was almost sundown. He would have to hurry to his destination before dark, for he did not bring any candles or oil lamps. He did not want to use magic to light the way either, for he was in a bad mood and didn't want to use any more magical energy. It had been a long and bad day at work and many things had gone wrong for him. He knew if he went home Sabrina would see it in his face for sure, but he did not want to worry her, so he decided to take a stroll and find a little friend of his...

Just before sunset, Dyluck managed to arrive at his destination, at the entrace of a huge cave at the base of tall mountain. He took off his backpack and set it down on the grass as he opened it and took out a little drum with beautiful blue markings on the side. He assumed it to be gnome arts as he had recieved it from a merchant in a town of gnomes. He stuck his head out a little looking into the darkness of the cave and he began to play a little exotic tune on his drum. A few moments later an enormous dragon emerged from within the shadows of the cave. The dragon had learned to appear in response to the sound of his drum ever since he played it the first time they met a few months ago when the dragon was still a baby. Back then it was only a little smaller than Dyluck, but now it was huge and already almost twice his height. The dragon was an elegant white and red, it moved with grace and a ferocity enough to send the bravest warriors running, yet it snuggled it's snout playfully against Dyluck. It must've been because he was the first thing the dragon saw when it was a baby and thought he was it's parent.

Dyluck reached into his backpack again pulled out a few pieces of raw ham that he had brought for the dragon to eat. He used some nearby branches to set up the meat and was about to make a fire with some wood to cook it when it began to rain. Annoyed, Dyluck got up and turned around and set off to look for some dry firewood when he heard from behind him a loud crackling sound and saw the bright reflection of light on the ground, and a sudden rise in temperature behind him. He turned around to find that the damp pieces of wood had been set ablaze by a huge fireball and trails of smoke were coming from the dragon's mouth. The dragon could breathe fire! The meat had been way overcooked by the huge flame but the dragon didn't seem to care and began gobbling it down.

Dyluck blinks, staring at the dragon, astonished by this new discovery.
"What a powerful flame.....you could be useful......"

The dragon looks at Dyluck from the corner of his eyes for a moment as if understanding his words and then continues to nibble on his dinner...

7 days before the disappearance of Dyluck.....

Dyluck sits in the corner of the library with a single candle flickering on the table. In his hands he holds a document. This document is a report on the herbs found at the bottom of the Mana Lake, written by the druid who brewed the antidote for Gandela. This document was never announced to the public, but it was kept in the library for anyone to read if they ever came upon it. Unable to sleep, Dyluck finds himself reading this document once again. This is what is written in the document:

Report on the herbs of the Mana Lake

The sample of the herbs found at the bottom of the Mana Lake seems to be, at first appearance, just red heads and bulbsponge mushroom, the ingredients for a simple mana potion. But upon further inspection, it seems that both herbs seems to differ slightly from normal herbs. Here are my findings:

Red Head
-the shade of red seems to be slightly darker compared to normal red heads
-the roots appear to be much stiffer and the skin of the red head seems to be tougher
-when the red head was cut open, there seemed to be tiny pockets inside containing tiny droplets of what seemed to be some kind of blood.

Bulbsponge Mushroom
-the size of the mushrooms seems to be sightly bigger than regular bulbsponge mushroom and the “sponge” of the mushroom is not as soft either
-within the stem were the same pockets found in the red head, containing tiny droplets of some blood like substance.

It is my suspicion that this blood like substance is the cause of the monster transformation of anyone who drinks from the Mana Lake. I cannot find an explanation to why this is except that this is the work of some magic. It wasn’t easy but I was able to formulate an antidote for those who have consumed the tainted mana. The antidote should clear the strange blood from the victims body as it is passed out through the system of the victim. Considering the amount of mana consumed by known victims, the amount of the strange blood in them should not be very high and can be countered by my antidote. However, my antidote may not be strong enough to have any effects on a large amount of this blood.

After finishing reviewing this document, Dyluck places it back in the shelves where he found it. Taking a yawn, he picks up the small candle on the table and heads back to his quarters...

Mystery of Dyluck...

5 days before the disappearance of Dyluck.....

During the past few days, Dyluck had been reading a lot of old legends and mythologies in the library in his spare time. One particular story of interest caught his attention....

Is it said that in the life of a Lizard, religion and honor are the most important things. The older a lizard gets, the wiser he becomes. At a certain age of about a hundred and fifty or seventy years, old lizards start to sleep much, and spend the rest of their lives dreaming, meditating and praying in a Lizard temple. Legends say that some Lizards live that way for hundreds of years before they die. Some of them suddenly awake with a holy shine in their eyes, and without saying a single word, walk away never to be seen again. The Priests call these ones "the enlightened ones". It is forbidden for other lizards to follow an "enlightened one", but this is the story about a lizard who dared to...

A long time ago, there was once a great underwater lizard kingdom called Uzuria. In the center of the capitol city stood a huge temple to the goddess Zelphia. Inside the temple was a tall pillar where a beautiful sphere called the Cascade Pearl rested. It is said that the Cascade Pearl was given to their people long ago by their great goddess Zelphia and that the pearl protected their kingdom from the powers of the ferocious water dragon Valzhurion outside.

One day a young lizard named Razeenwa saw an Englightened One wake up in the temple and leave. Filled with curiosity the young lizard decided to follow him. The Enlightened One swam upwards farther and farther away from the city until he left the boundaries by which the Cascade Pearl protected the kingdom. At first Razzenwa was afraid to leave the boundaries, but then he thought to himself that if an Enlightened One went through, then it must be safe. So then he continued to follow the Enlightened One until he began to see a light and soon it was hard to see, but he continued to swim upwards until finally he reached the surface. He looked around and was astonished when he saw land for this was the first time he had ever seen the world above water. Suddenly he realized that the Enlightened One was nowhere to be seen and he quickly looked around but could not find him. Instead he saw another lizard walking on the beach so he went and talked to the lizard. They began a conversation and told each other about the world they came from.

When Razeenwa told the other lizard of their great underwater kingdom, the stranger refused to believe him. So Razeenwa offered to take him down to the underwater kingdom and the other lizard agreed. Together they swam back to Uzuria and Razeenwa was relieved when he remembered that he had been outside the protection of the Cascade Pearl. Razeenwa showed the other lizard around the city and nobody in the busy city noticed that they had never seen the other lizard before. The other lizard marveled at the great wonders of his city and Razeenwa felt happy and proud, so that night he invited the other lizard to eat with him and stay for the night.

The next morning when Razeenwa woke up, the foreign lizard was gone and he found the city in an uproar. All the leaders of the city had gathered in the temple where the Cascade Pearl had disappeared. They barely had time to further ponder where the stone had gone when they heard a loud boom outside and the temple shook. Outside screams could be heard as the terrible water dragon Valzhurion had already began attacking the city. Many brave lizardmen and temple guards went to fight him but they were no match for his lightning speed, impaling claws, and his subzero ice breath. Even more horrendous was when those who were bitten by his fangs or contaminated by the blood of Valzhurion, began to turn into sea monsters.

Eventually the remaining lizards realized that they could not defeat the great water dragon and the sea monsters, and that their kingdom was lost. They fled as quickly as possible away from the kingdom. Some swam away in search of other safe underwater places while others, afraid there was nowhere safe underwater from Valzhurion, decided to swim to the surface in search of a new home on land. Since then, the whereabouts of the Cascade Pearl and the water dragon Valzhurion are still unknown, and no lizard has dared to go back to the ruins of Uzuria.....

3 days before the disappearance of Dyluck.....

The rocks crunched beneath his boots as Dyluck trudged on in his lonely journey to the ruins of the Mana Well. He thought that it was about time to take a small check at the magic sword and that he should go by himself for safety reasons. His reading the last few days had given him a suspicion about where the powers of the Mana Lake came from, and if it were true, the magic sword could prove to be both very powerful and very dangerous after absorbing all the mana.

Finally Dyluck reached his destination and after dispatching with a few ogres that prowled the area he proceeded to enter the castle ruins. Arriving in front of the room that contained the Mana Well, he laid a hand on the entrance to break his seal. Some mysterious symbols glowed on the door for a moment and then the magic wall disappeared, giving him access to the Mana Well. He approached the center of the room where the Mana Well stood and began to pull up the bucket where the sword rested, and as he expected, the bucket was still wet which meant it hadn’t absorbed all the mana from the lake yet, but the sword itself had changed from gold to a bluish color.

Dyluck clasped his hand around the hilt of the sword and suddenly felt a rush of energy surge through him. Incredible! He thought to himself, the sword had already become so powerful, imagine after it has completely absorbed all the mana from the lake. There was no doubt it would be disastrous if such a weapon fell into the wrong hands and there was no telling what effects it may have on the wielder, but its immense power might be needed one day against the likes of Drakhen Vorkalion and other powerful foes.

Putting the sword back into the bucket, Dyluck lowered it back to the bottom of the Mana Well and then turned and left the room. Outside, he places his palm where the door once stood to seal the entrance again and some symbols began to glow on the surrounding walls. Moments later, the magic wall had returned to where it once stood. Then it just suddenly occurred to him.
I’m the only one who can break my seal.... but what if something were to happen to me someday? Then no one would be able to get the magic sword anymore. Maybe I should teach someone else how to break the seal just in case.... but it would be too dangerous to give this power to any single person. There must be some way to do this....

As Dyluck headed home, he turned around to look towards the Mana Well again and wondered if he was just afraid to carry the burden of wielding the magic sword himself.....

1 day before the disappearance of Dyluck

Nightfall.
The students of the Magic Academy have all returned home. Only Dyluck, Sabrina, and a few other close caretakers remained.
‘That should be enough’ thought Dyluck as he counted the crates and barrels of food reserve at the Magic Academy. That being done, he went to light the candles and prepared the mirrors, glasses and crystals for the big spell.
‘There, that should do it. Making these stones will take months so now I’ll be able to concentrate on them undisturbed once I’ve cast this spell on the Academy. Sabrina will also then be safe here during the last few months of her pregnancy. I can only the hope the town will fare well during my absence, for I cannot take the risk of letting anyone know of this undertaking.'

The next day the Magic Academy vanished without a trace from the lofty mountains where it once stood.

Part I
Dyluck Returns

Present day.....

Atop the spiral stairwell in the tower of the Magic Academy, two doors slowly creak open as smoke gushes out from the chamber within. The smoke clears away revealing a figure with charred and dusty robes. An exhausted Dyluck emerges from the smoke with a small box in his hand. Inside the box are 7 different colored stones each marked with a different curious symbol....

Later that day....
Dyluck has changed into some merchant clothings after taking a shower and a good rest. Walking past the bookshelves, he saw the old dwarf sitting at the table lost in an old book.
"What've you got there old friend?" asked Dyluck.
The old dwarf looks up and show him the front cover of the book, "A book named Marimes the Sailor, it's a quite an exciting adventure book!"
"Marimes?" replied Dyluck. "Nice name. I think that's what I'll call myself for a few days."

Smiling, Dyluck puts on his hat and left the Magic Academy, walking down the mountain path to go see what has become of the town.....

The Legacy of Dyluck
Chapter 1: The Hero Appears
Part II
The Mysterious Stranger

It seemed like just another day. Townsfolk walking busilly about the streets, running errands, doing business. Local venders shouted to the passerbys, advertising their products in hopes of a sale. Many different peoples and races moved about the crowd, but amongs them walked a stranger covered by a dark green cloak. At first nobody noticed him, didn't seem like anything too unusual. Then suddenly he burst out in a menacing laugh as he stood in the middle of the street. People turned around and watched him curiously as he waved his almost skeletal hands and conjured up zombies, skeletons, and other undead horors. It seemed like the man was some kind of evil necromancer bent on terrorizing the townsfolk. People dropped their things and scrambled to run away, fruits and vegetables squashed beneath the stampede.

A few braves amongs the crowd got ready to draw their weapons against this new terror when suddenly a mysterious young man appeared amongs the monsters. The dark green cloaked conjurer turned in surprise as the man seemed to have appeared from nowhere. The young man took a quick look at his surroundings while those who watched him barely had time to ponder his existence. He put his hands together and seemed to mumble some incantations and a bird like shape began to glow on his chest. Then beams of blue light shot out from the glow while the young man, with quick movements of his hands, seemed to be guiding the beams to their targets. Mere moments later, the dark green cloaked man and all his undead creations were all incased in thick ice. Then, the stranger drew his sword and with a quick dash of his feet and flash of his blade, the frozen statues had all turned into nothing more than ice cubes....

The surrounding crowd stared curiously in amazement at their mysterious savior, as he confidently returned his sword to his sheath. The man seemed to be wearing some kind of strange armor that none of them could had never seen before. He removed his helmet as he looked around, revealing his elven ears although his face looked rougher than most elves. Upon closer inspection, some of them saw the emblem of a grey rose on his gaunlet, but none of them had seen this knight before, creating even more whispers and murmurs...

Then the stranger, after looking around at his surrounding crowd, finally spoke.
“Excuse me, do any of you know where I can find Dyluck?”

Some people in the crowd looked at each other and murmured some things and then finally someone answered him
“I’m afraid no one has seen him in a long time and no one knows when he’ll return either”

The stranger smiled and replied indifferently, “Oh, looks like I’m a little bit early, but he’ll be returning soon. I’ll just go wait for him.”

The crowd gasped and murmured amongst themselves again, wondering how the stranger knew when Dyluck would return, and if it was true that it would be soon. The young man walked off to the mountain path towards the lofty mountains where the Magic Academy once stood, while rumors began to spread from the crowd.....

Who is this mysterious new savior?.....

The Legacy of Dyluck
Chapter 1: The Hero Appears
Part III
In Full Regalia Once Again

After the final incantation and movement of his hands in front of the mirrors, glasses and crystals, Dyluck finished removing the spell placed on the building. The Magic Academy appeared once again on the very spot where it once stood before it disappeared.

He stood in the grand hall of the revealed Magic Academy, now wearing his familar garbs. The dark blue gown with the red and white gauntlets, regal shoulder covers and a long flowing black cape, bore the unmistakable insignia of the headmaster. The old dwarf was helping him with the final pieces of his attire as Dyluck stood looking out the window.
"Much has changed in our dear town. It's going to be a lot of work to set things right again."
"Best of luck to you, young master" said the old dwarf as he finished his work.

The grand doors of the Magic Academy opened once again as Dyluck, now fully dressed in his recognizable attire, walked down the mountain path, ready to meet the people once again.....

The Legacy of Dyluck
Chapter 1: The Hero Appears
Part IV
An Ominous Prophecy

Halfway down the mountain path, Dyluck found a man dressed in unfamilar armor sitting with his arms around his leg on a big rock on the side of road. The young man turned as he saw Dyluck approaching and got on his feet. It was the mysterious stranger that saved the town from the monsters earlier. They both walked towards each other and then stopped, staring at each other. Then the stranger spoke.

"Are you Dyluck?"

"Yes, I am Dyluck" the mage replied as he noticed the grey rose emblem on his gauntlet “Are you a knight of the Grey Rose? I know of all the knights and I’ve never seen you before…”

“Yes I’m a knight of the Grey Rose, or rather I will be someday,” replied the stranger. “You see, I’m still just a baby right now.”

“What? What do you mean?” asked Dyluck, not understanding.

“Listen carefully,” replied the stranger. “You may find this hard to believe, but I was sent here from 25 years in the future by a powerful spell from a good friend of mine who sacrificed his life to sent me back here to warn you. The future I come from is a desolate world where everything is in ruins. Most of the people you know are dead or dying. Many peasants live in fear, hiding and running, and those who can fight like myself have to battle constantly to protect our loved ones and all that we hold dear. Everyday is a never ending struggle for survival from which there is no escape. More and more people are dying everyday, it’s a horrible life....”

The stranger looked down for a moment with a sad and angry look in his eyes. Dyluck had many questions he wanted to ask him but the stranger continued again before Dyluck could ask.
“But.....you can still have a chance. This terrible future does not have to come to pass. You can prevent it Dyluck, if you listen to me and do as I tell you.”

“Of course I will do everything I can to prevent this from happening, what do I need to do?” Dyluck asked anxiously.

“This is what you must do, listen carefully” the stranger replied solemnly. “In exactly 6 days from now, you must stay away from the town of Troll’s Bane for the day and not talk to any strangers. Just to be safe, you might want to leave for a day or two before and after.”

“Stay away from the town?” Dyluck look puzzled.

“I’m running out of time, I can’t stay here much longer. Remember what I’ve told you Dyluck, 6 days from now!” and with that the stranger ran into the woods and disappeared.

“Wait!” Dyluck called, but it was too late. A million questions raced through his head, still wondering about the things that the strange man told him, but he would not find any more answers. Still pondering about what he had just heard, Dyluck continued walking down the path to the town once again.

Meanwhile, somewhere in a peaceful garden, Shi Long is strolling with Sun Long who is holding a little baby in her arms. A figure in the shadows watches them for a while from behind some trees and then runs away with tears flowing from his eyes. A soft whisper could be heard in the winds as the figure disappears....

.....Goodbye mother, father. I’m so glad I could see you one last time again....

Evening. Dyluck waved his hands to his friends after having a few drinks and requainting with some old friends of the town, the last few for this first day. He headed off along the mountain path back to the Magic Academy once again, still thinking about the words of the stranger....

The Legacy of Dyluck
Chapter 1: The Hero Appears
Part V
Dyluck's Decision

A fleet of massive ships raced across the waters towards the Bitter Sea. Two distinguished figures stood on the front deck of the first ship. One is a man covered in a wizard's cloak with a long gem encrusted staff in his hand. The other was a man wearing brilliant shining golden armor from head to toe with his arms crossed looking out at sea. A messenger scurries forward from behind and bows to the man in golden armor, and speaks.
"Prince Byron, the lookout says that he sees an island with a town near our east that is not indicated on the maps."

The man in the wizard's cloak steps a little closer to Prince Byron, the man in golden armor and speaks fraily, "My prince, I sense a strong magical energy on that island. It might be worth taking a look."

The prince nodded and thought for a moment, then spoke,
"Give the orders to the ships to turn east. We're going to take a look at this little island of ours."

6 days came and went very quickly as the fated day finally arrived. The day that the mysterious stranger, who claimed to come from the future, warned him to leave the town on. Dyluck stood in a tower high above the Magic Academy looking out the window, still pondering the words of the stranger. He wanted to believe the man's words, but he could not possibly understand how his leaving of the town could possibly save it. He really wanted to know what all this meant. Finally his curiosity got the better of him, and he decided he would go to town.
Came from the future? Either that man is crazy or I must've had a bad dream, Dyluck convinced himself. With that, he headed down towards the town.

Will something terrible happen if Dyluck goes to town, just as the mysterious stranger predicted?.....
