I'm glad to see a topic like this progressing in a civil manner. As Aegohl has already said, it's important to discuss things about rules from time to time and if more precise rules can be forged because of one mistake (that will probably be overturned sometime today) being made, then yay!
Now, see what happens when Martin goes skiing?
For shame.

My thoughts exactly. ;]Japheth wrote:Now, see what happens when Martin goes skiing?

Now, being as perfect as I am it is obvious that perfection is not meant to understand. Since this matter is brought out in the open and many players are affected by the happenings, all the facts should be known. If the rules are to change because of a certain happening than in this case we should be informed as to why because if we aren't then all I can see is people asking forever "yeah but why?" and that gets really REALLY annoying.
I actually have this theory that the punnishment shall fit the crime (yes the punnishment should fit the crime). If the restriction in place was not inforced then how was Sam to know that it wasn't removed? If someone wasn't constantly "reviewing his case" as they should have been then how was he to know that it was still in effect? I see both sides of the story hold good points but come on. We're losing someone who is a great asset to the community we're working so hard to build.

I think this is statement although true in a literal sense does not serve to justify the action because it is my belief and hope that GM’s are not like a secret police force that goes around enforcing laws by the number. Surely the role of a game master is that of a normal player who has proven they have the time and passion for the game to be a good servant of the community?I still imagine this like a routine police check of my car, looking if I have my first aid kit with me and that warning triangle..
So we return to my original question can we honestly justify this ban as being in the best interest of the community and game world?
or his identity as Grant, he came back to the game and began playing it a new way for a year.Sam did not hide the fact he had multiple characters
To me this is a case of double jeopardy as the player I encountered a year ago my second day in game playing as Garret Gwenour recruit of the guard under John Irenicus could not have been further from Grant Herion and was indeed a formative personality both ooc and IG in me making illa my new home.
To ban him now does not serve my interest in the game and apparently we have numerous players who feel the same way.
I must also refer back to the entire anarchist issue and his blatant disregard for the spirit of the game and respect for players, if that is only a month ban. Sam would have be truly a horrific danger to the community I don’t believe he is.
Lastly this resurrection issue I am not asking people to suddenly love it or like it, how ever please remain aware it was done with the input, support and moderation of three GM’s. He did not wake up one day and climb out the grave, if anything it is an example of his willingness to play by the rules to the letter. Accepting a sizeable skill and attribute cut in the process.

MY bad, I'm lazy when it comes to reading, but if the gamemasters decide to ban someone, why are we fighting? it's their game, their rules, and they are genorous enough to let us play for free. they gave us rules, he broke them, they ban him. the time inbetween the crime and the punishment doesn't matter. And I'm sure this guy's life isn't going to end now that he can't play, it's a simple game, not the death sentence. Bans arn't even that bad, if he wanted to, he could make a whole new account, it's really easy.
(I got all the info from skimming the posts, cause Ive got better things to do besides read pages and pages of complaints!)

Well you sure are, as a Gamemaster stated already that the banishment has been lifted and is to be discussed again. If you cannot supply constructive input towards this discussion then better keep away from it totally.Poots wrote:MY bad, I'm lazy when it comes to reading, but if the gamemasters decide to ban someone...

I thank everyone for their support and help and you make me truely feel accepted in this community. I have recieved word from Damien that I am infact unbanned once again. So I look forward to seeing you all ingame.
And concerning the resurrection, I welcome people to hurl tomatoes at Stephen if it suits you. He is after all a dead man brought back to life during an era where everyone is fighting these Lichs. The roleplay I have experienced after Stephen was brought back has by far been some of the best roleplay with such deep emotions involved that I have ever experienced.
Thank you all,
Sam

If it is really only because of this it is quite funny...as Fooser said times changed since the "Movement Reborn"He was banned, technically, for a violation a long time ago. He was given restraints for when he returned, but the GM in charge of this didn't handle the issue and so it was looked over... until now. Which is silly.

If he was really banned for the punishment given him two years ago (which I always believed and remembered WAS given for at least a few month) it's kind of funny.
I mean many players knew what PO he was...his RP was fine actually after those punisching timed (from what I have seen of it), I even recruited him into the guard once.
