Sneak Peek

I think what he means is that you aren't really seeing the whole picture. You're seeing a screenshot. Gameplay inside the client is something different.
Also, this is an early, early version of this client, being only a few weeks old. That being said, it's expected that a large part of what you see is not the final version.

first i never got told that its an early version and second i just said what i can see on the pics. i spoke about the black boxes of the textes and the look of the menus and the inventory. that with the girl like demon was a joke <_<. even if his leg looks a bit female. the thing with the pillar was more a question why that is. because it could be possible there is more behind it, maybe thats the places to main in the new client, who knows.
but martin don't seem to understand and like good meant criticism
btw. i was not the only one who said something, but the only one get attacked by martin. so i think it is again his dislike of me which let him make that post. like so often.

And so with the faintest of whimpers the game known as illarion reaches a new low. The last vestiges of what made it unique and distinguished it from the rabble of other fantasy RPGs out there has evidently been lost with the coming of this new java client.
Little difference can be seen from comparing a screenshot from such a game as Runescape and a screenshot from this new java illarion. The java illarion graphics depressingly resemble a picture drawn by a child with crayons.
Needless to say, with such depressing visuals the gameplay will most definitely be adversely affected. One can only shudder at what other ghastly "improvements" have been put into place that will warp the original illarion into an increasingly distorted shadow of its former self.

Char wipe was only done because we had to switch servers and not clients.
and conscience i slightly agree, i did enjoy the older graphics where the avatars constantly carried weapons and shields simply because they seemed to look better. But i do enjoy the graphics we currently had at this time.
I suppose it is all opinion, your opinion, my opinion, neither has much more weight then the other unless there are more agreeances for your opinion then mine.
Edit---
Would it be possible to get to pick which type of avatar you would want. As in, you can have the older avatar, (one with weaponry - human), or the current one, which looks more like a merchant. As that would be fun and i am not sure how hard it would be to program it in to be able to choose which avatar you would want ... Well, I think it would be a nice feature.

Conscience there are rare moments when you can speak sense, alas this is no such moment. Not only is your reference to runescape erroneous only base being that indeed both are java clients. More over illarion has never been about graphics and up until recently all graphics have been bland and simplistic. Not knocking the work done by the graphics team past or present the graphics were directely a result of the constraints set by the client. How ever illarion has never been about graphics.
Java means,
smoother interface with many more possible features and varied feed back allowing the client to feed players more information.
Java is highly adaptable the client can be altered nearly on the fly meaning we could cut back on length between client updates substantially.
Allready the graphics both in texture and content surpass anything we have previously had both in detail and shadeing, again allowing variation.
Yes we all like now out dated graphics for sentimental reasons, regardless we can never claim that technically this game has taken one step back. It will always be the game playe of illarion the role play that makes it surpass many pay per play fully 3d high end games out there. The new client simply looks and moves superbly.
All of your expressed opinions have been stated in a factual manner so i have no qualms in simply informing you are wrong.

Graphics and features aren't the problem, the roleplay and stories in-game have become so boringly repetetive and pointless that it isnt even worth the effort to type a name and password. Creativity is at a minimum, nothing really stands out for quests, and the player interaction is on a very shallow level.
You're right, its not about graphics, but what it is about is lacking even more.

Fooser,
I agree in as much as i have felt and said the same thing a few times since the wipe. How ever it seems everytime i really lose motivation to get on and play. I will logg on an evening and find amazeing rp happening and great moments and i will simply feel refreshed.
Yes we do have a problem where at the moment we have a lot of new players of varying ability and imagination. The problem is the rp drys up and the amazeing players stop logging on, they cease to make the storys and the plots. They stop bringing there passion and emotion into the world so in turn the ho hum and shallow rp becomes the common standard. This is scary as then new players may be put off, older players may lose heart and the rp of the game which has been some of the best I ever found begins to erode.
Only answer those of us who want something deeper have to get in game and make it happen. Make the interaction come up with the storys and rp our guts out. If every name who visited these forums popped in game for an hour a night we would turn it around in a week. I know this isnt always possible but we can all do our best.
This is not something we can just say fix, we the players have to make it change and only a consorted effort from imaginative roleplayers vet to new can make that happen....

I have to agree here. For me, I only play either my halfling, or I play WoW. Those are the only cases I actually find roleplay that really interests me.Fooser wrote:Graphics and features aren't the problem, the roleplay and stories in-game have become so boringly repetetive and pointless that it isnt even worth the effort to type a name and password. I appreciate your preaching very much, in fact I like it, but don't you think it's a little outdated? I mean, you did that about two thousand years ago, and I feel that meanwhile a lot of things happened, I mean, they invented cars, the middle ages passed by, you ended up hanging on some cross, all that small things sum up to one consci..consequence:
Go away.
Thanks in advance, sincerly
Martin
Advice to people when the new client comes: change your selfdescription regularely, maybe just with a different choice and order of words, to make it stay interesting.
Though I must say I am happy with this, this selfdescription is still limited by one #me I suppose. So, if you have a rather large description of your character at hand (2 #me's here), then you must do it otherwise, or?

Thanks for comparing me to Jesus who has the religion with the most people centered around him thinking he is the Son of God. Well, I may not be the Son of God, but I can still tell the difference between horrible graphics and awesome graphics.Hi Jesus,

And let me tell you (in the gentlest way possible because I know you are a very sensitive person martin with a very thin skin) the new java illarion graphics are not awesome at all. They simply don't fit the mood or atmosphere of the "true roleplaying game" that illarion claims to be.
Instead the graphics resemble those of such roleplaying games as Runescape. However, I suppose that this is only right since illarion gameplay-wise failed to be a true roleplaying game a long time ago. It's always good to show your true colors and in this case illarion did a marvelous job of it.
Sorry "Jesus" can't go away. He will forever be knocking at your heart waiting for you to confess your sins and be saved.Go away.
Thanks in advance, sincerly
Martin
Your welcome, sincerely,
Jesus

if you don't like the way the game is progressing, or regressing as you think, pick yourself up and leave. and DO let the door shove itself up ur ass! Thank you.Conscience wrote:Thanks for comparing me to Jesus who has the religion with the most people centered around him thinking he is the Son of God. Your right, graphics make people focus on graphics more than roleplay. Please play a MUD or do some real work. Bitching and moaning is just going to give us more laughs and motivate us to do the exact opposite JUST so we get the pleasure out of pissing YOU off and getting more players AND satisfying the current player base. Lovely arrangement we have with you isn't it? Keep it up or don't I don't care, a good laugh is always in order with you around.
At least they have something in common with you:Conscience wrote:They simply don't fit the mood or atmosphere of the "true roleplaying game" that illarion claims to be.
You don't fit to Illarion either. So I guess it would be the easiest way for us if you simply leave and search for another "true roleplaying game" with shitty graphics. Because of your oh-so-goodness I guess we're too bad anyway, so, just leave. No discussion, I ask you to leave and I ask you, no, I beg you to do that right now, in that very moment.
I do not want to have a player like you in my game. Whoever you are, I don't care, leave. I ask you once again: Leave.
You must be either blind or an idiot to compare Illarion graphics to runescape. And making a conclusion from the graphics to the game itself is more than stupid.Instead the graphics resemble those of such roleplaying games as Runescape.
Leave.
