Why can't you RP being a ghost for a while once you're dead? You can still whisper and interact with people. Finding your way back into the world of the living should take a little more than a 20 second sprint the cross.

What i would eventually like to see in regard to this is a KO system as was tested in the past actually implemented. In this most pvp battels should result in KO "simulateing seriouse injury" instead of a trip to the cross.

Then indeed it would please me to see a system where by being turned into a could moved one out of the main game enviroment for a time. This should not be viewed as punitive and it would be my hope that the act of dieing could be interactive and some what more rewarding than puff-cross back, lost skills :(
When we look at an issue like "death" in Illarion it is important to not become to hung up on our own role play and view the concept holistically for the betterment of the game.
When some one dies and returns immediately it disrupts rp for those who killed X.
When some one is killed and returns immediatly with a slew of OOC it disrupts the game for all.
When some one dies and returns immediatly the penalty for dieing is only a skill loss something i hope non of us are that hung up on. As such it detracts from the urgency in quests and battle and helps the "hero" complex so bitterly bemoaned to thrive.

Some time ago on the front page it said something to affect of when a player is turned into a cloud they are considered dead, no crime warrents death twice.
As such it should be understood that a cloud does infact constitute a form of death, how ever we choose to rp it. The actual ethos or concept of the game implys that an act of divine power restores one.

The game is heavily focused on gods and dietys at this moment we have drahken a servant of moshran wageing war on our land. I see no problem with bringing the gods power into the game more, of course allowance would have to be made for "atheist" characters. Yet in the setting of Illarion if the gods were more manifest logic dictates they would be relatively few.
My thoughts any way

I agree totally; if time were wasted to revive, then people wouldn't do crazy things. Also it would allow people to be held hostage, blackmailed "next time i will kill you"; whereas now there is no real requirment for it, because if you have anything to say to the offended, you can say it when he revives.

This system came from a game called Darkage2 which is a Required , heavily rp'd UO shard. It works great as i said it was only an idea and i apreciate your comments but its nothing people should get worked up about.

@fooser- there is more rp going on between you and other players when its PvP when its PvM its just your powergaming or skilling or gathering stuff from monsters so there shouldnt be a penalty other then what i stated.

About what pendar said and quin said, from what i know people have no choice if the gods want them dead or not and an atheist character has no choice but to be brought to a gods domain, so it would make perfect sence that if you are clouded you would be sent to cherga realm of not others becouse she is where dead people go to anyways

the gods are very real in this game. They have godly powers aswell and even if the character decides he doesnt believe in him the gods still have power over the non believer.

Disclaimer: anything written is my opinion mixed with knowlage of illarion history and stystems. DONT FLAME ME FOR WHAT I SAY. as i MAY be wrong but IM NOT PERFECT.
