The main problem with "children" is, that your fellow players will never realize that they are confronted with a knee-high-nerve-killer unless the player of this "child" is telling them before.

There are simply no graphics for them, and I highly doubt there ever will be.

And typing "#me is a child" everytime a new character enters your viewfield can get annoying.

I know, girls love to pretend to be younger then they actualy are, but dont overdo it.
14 is a perfect age for a young character.

I've never seen 14 year olds asking which fruit babies come from [see quote of the day]... or running around in their treehouses
or playing catch...

Olar is twelve. And back then there was no internet.

There is so much variety not catered for by the illa graphics.
Old crones who tell fortunes, crippeled and injured, tall short, skin color, dress and phsyical condition etc etc.
Age is just one such variable....
A few things i do are
When entering an area "#me casts his eyes around the room". Simply gives people a chance to tell me anything that should stick out like a sore thumb. Pay attention to the rp around me when i am just standing around anyway thus far i have found the PO's playing kids to be very good at describeing themselves and acting in ways that shows them as children.

If i am unsure of a character or just dont know them make a point of examaning them soon or before even greetings. This avoids going "greetings lady care to have a drink and toy with my hilt" or any such to minors, pensioners or the leper.

Generally pay attention I really have not been confused or particularly annoyed by people playing kids as yet. Yes we have a flood at the moment but at the same time its a nice change from 30 sweaty warriors standing around massageing egos and oiling armors

Id have to say...that was one of the funniest things ive seen today..you know why Brian xD

As i see it, i love Child chars, i have 2 nieces(becuase come on..who wants a lizard as a father?). And i love their Rp, It does beat Sal like tring to get Syla to duel all the f'ing time and Stephen sending Syla on like the 007 missions..Its a good relaxing point..

Even if that a'hole Thalgul(i know its you ziel!) is kidnapping them...its good rp

I've heard a story yesterday that made me think about child chars again. I was not present, but I have heard two identical accounts of the story, so I guess it's accurate.

A char was followed to town by a forest troll. Another char who supposedly is a 12 year old girl, bravely attacked the forest troll and killed it.

That's not exactly what I'd expect from a little girl when she sees a mad troll. Observing this RP, I would deduce that the char must be an intermediate and well-equipped fighter - or a maniac with a deathwhish. In fact, even when we dig into mythical heroes, only Hercules comes to mind and he merely strangled a snake in his cradle and waited until adulthood before attacking XL monsters.

In the not-too-distant future, the new client will show all characters to scale so you can tell who's tall, who's small and who's a child.

But it would still be nice if you could tell from the RP who's the child and who's the berserker. :-(

I am known as the child character grynch my rant in the off topic forum im sure cemented that. How ever i have come to realize it is a "few" who make the entire bunch of people who like to play kids appear foolish.
The same character in question wished to duel me yesterday my...6'4 war hammer wielding barbarian.
Of course having the skills to also crush me looool. How ever i do remind myself we can pick who we interact with so end of the day its no biggie.

Various sprites would be awesome and perhaps even in time child characters could come with a hard cap of 10 for stats. Its a unique role and i don’t see why it would need more than 10-12 in any attribute.
If we have a child magician or some what unique youngster as per Maeve im sure GM's would be happy to oblige if the reasoning was sound.
Just a coin or three there

I think too chil characters should get a cut by some attributes, but not by all. Stats which shouldn't be higher than 12 are strength and consitution. A child can be very agile, and its perception can be good too. Also a child can have great dexterity, willpower and intelligence.
