Disabling the firewall would of course only be done to test if connecting works without it. If it works it would of course be reenabled only with the proper ports unblocked. If unblocking ports doesn't do it then setting up your computer as "dmz" would allow you to reenable the firewall for all other computers in the network at least.
I surely wouldn't suggest turning off the firewall completely. But if you only have two choices, either going online or having security then you will have to decide on one of them.

Alright, I tried logging into my router only to find I didn't know the password. Asked dad, he gave me a password which was used for something with the router (he knows less than I do on this stuff). Typed in password, no good.
Say, what is the default password? "Admin", perhaps?

Well, the password was saved on the downstairs compy. Don't know what it is, all blurred out in the box already ( ***** ) but thats alright. As long as I can log in! I have a friend helping me out

So, do you know what I need to change in the "Service Port Range"? DNS...? Everything? Heh.
(Sorry about the triple post!)
EDIT:

As in, is it one of those in the red circle? The picture above is from an example that helped me get this far.

Alright, with service port range you do port 3008 to 3008. With protocol you do TCP (I think that is what it means atleast.) Then, with that last number, you fill in 20 again, like the ones above. Press apply, and see if it works.

Okay, I tried it and it didn't work. I put my internet on DMZ as well, and it didn't work.
Below is what MY port forwarding screen looks like. The picture above was just an example.

IP is right, I did what you told me to, Enable is checked (got cut off of the picture). Application name doesn't matter.
Is everything typed in right? This is really annoying...

Since a whole new server is coming out with the wipe, do you think I'll be able to log in normally to that server? Would any GM's be able to answer this?

I don't think I can help you. Perhaps one of the devs would know more about this. Devs? Hello?

Sess'sth, can you get to network connections? And rightclick on your card, then go to TCP/IP thingie, and click properties? I would really like to see what settings you have there.
Because I have not been able to play for a long time too, and the cause of that was there, not with my router. So....maybe?

I clicked on "Internet Protocol (TCP/IP).

This is what I found. The "Alternate Configuration" section is also blank.
Hmmm...

Well, I suppose I'll wait it out until the new server comes out. If I am still unable to log in then, well.... I'll think o' something.

Well then, still unable to log in. Same exact error.
Martin helped me, or tried his best.
The problem is one of the following possibilities:
* winXP internal firewall. Disable it.
* Your own firewall which you do not have (according to your claim)
* Internal router firewall.
I've been unable to find ANY trace of these firewalls in my router's webpage. I'm so annoyed, confused, and just plain sad right now. Well, is there another place to find this winXP internal firewall? I've messed with my own firewall, and added Illarion to the exceptions list (which did not help, obviously). The internal router firewall is hidden away where I can't find it, I've scoured my router and practically ripped the thing to pieces.
If you know ANYTHING that would help me at all, PLEASE HELP!!!
