A very good question:Irania wrote:Do you have enough time to activate the characters quickly or will it take a while?
For the old characters, that will not need GM interference.
For accepting new ones, GM help is needed (mainly for the name). We hope that we can do that very quickly on the day and the period after the wipe.
Actually, I don't know. Both scenarios are possible, however we will try to keep it short.Willem Time wrote:Will we all have to go through the account test again with the story and such?
The problem is that it is not easy for us to decide whether or not you already had an account.
For the first question: Probably not. We can do that instantly. There is still some work needed, but we already test most new things since some days/weeks.Brendan Mason wrote:When the wipe does take place, will there be a prolonged period of waiting before the server, client and so forth are up and running again? And, as previously hinted on a seperate topic, is Illarion going to start a publicity campaign to attract new players to the game?
To answer the second one: We plan that, yes, but that will need some time. If you have ideas, we are open to them
It might be the case that you get some basic skills. This is not yet decided, but we consider it.falco1029 wrote:Oh yeah, another question: I heard that basic skills will be transeferred (i.e. raw recruit in any skil lyou have trained to a certain point) is this true?

Will the GM's tell us HOW the new magic system, and other new systems like fighting or anything else what will come, work? So that we may creat our characters finally so that they are no losers in the profession they should have?
For example that we finally know which attributes are important for a mage, and so on? Because I don't want to create a mage, and to play him for some month, just to see that he is useless because he has not the right attributes. And that all because the gm's made a secret out of the magic system and how it works

If I have the time (uhm, quite a problem...) I will write a short list of "sense making" attributes, like some kind of stereotypes.
I mean something like this:
Robin the Archer
Strength: 10
Agilty: 12
...
David Brassacre the Mage
Strength: 8
Agilty: 10
Intelligence: 16
Willpower: 14
...
These would just be suggestions or hints, some guidance for newbies. I doubt an experienced player will have any use for such lists. If anyone wants to help me in this, feel free to send me a PM.

How about something like this for the newbie board:
Illarion has no class system since we do not want to limit the possible professions and want you, the player, to decide what your character can do and what not. However, as a guide, we have compiled a list of sense making combinations of attributes. Regard this as a hint, not as a rule; the values are only examples and you can and should vary them so your character's stats represent best what you have in mind.
Name the Class
STR: XX
CON: XX
DEX: XX
AGI: XX
INT: XX
WIL: XX
PER: XX
ESS: XX
and so on. I just need a list of "classes" / professions and some background information (mostly about the new magic system).

BY Imminent, i mean within a day or two, you said it's within a week or two.The reset is imminent. I hope that answers your question. Wink

Here's how I wouls suggest a few cvlasses (I'm only going to do ones I have experience with). Also, I'm not counting out stat points, I'm giving suggested values, not sure if they can all be met or not, and if it leaves leftover points, put it on whatever.
Mage:
str: 5-7
agility: 5-7
const: 8-10
Dexterity: 6-8
Essence: 15-20 (only elves can have 20 i think)
Int: 16-19 (same, but with 19
Perception: 10-12
Willpower: 16-19 (only humans can have 19)
Warlock:
str: 10-12
agility:8-11
cont:9-12
Dexterity:9-12
Essence: 10-14
Int: 13-16
Perception: 8-10
Willpower: 12-15
Thief:
str: 10-12
agility: 14-16
const: 13-15
Dex: 16-20 (only a halfling can have 20)
Essence: 3-5
Int: 9-11
Perc: 12-14
Willpower: 4-6
Fighter:
str: 16-20 (blah blah check yourself)
agility: 12-14
cont: 15-18
Dex: 14-16
Essence: 3-5
Int: 4-8
Perc: 10-12
Willpower: 4-6
Again, these are personal suggestions, that seem to work well, based on what i've seen and heard. feel; free to add other classes.

Galim CAN do offensive magic, but not like others i dont train over and over again, my skills are middle to bad.
But I hope ither systems will change to the good after the wipe, like range weapons. until now a good archer who dont want to lose totally have to be someone with maximum perception, agility, dexterity and strength!, that can't be right.

There was some hint made about being able to reassigne stats to existing characters. Of course this is also dependant on if we start a "new world" or not. How ever if Illarion keeps it's history I would love to keep my character around. His story has hardly started. " i may even move him over to the new illarion if we start one any way. At least he would have a detailed back ground story lol"
Further more stat explinations that would be usefull are for example one needs a perception of 11? to be a druid. Now that is not common sense really.
The fact that perception also has to do with your chance to get critical hits.Possibly also your ability to deal with weapons like daggers.
Yes these are logical but lots of logical things have not been implemented.
Wisdom does not count for knowledge of the land and give you a more detailed map view for example.
Letting us in on subtle mechanics of that nature I am sure will help many players feel more content with there new or reinvented characters.

don't forget theres other vocations of magic, you dont have to limit between Warlock and mage. but i think me running around screaming not a mage must have run that home in peoples brains. Ules' stats are in the ranges of where Ath's stats are actually. add high skill to that and you have a good make for what i consider Warlock/Paladin class. though i met a character who wanted to play a tempest someone who would mainly use only lightning and water spells no doubt. (sadly they weren't there.) but having fun vocations like that in the magic class makes things at least feel more unique.
