Magic:

The feeling of controling magic makes you you all dizzy and you suddenly lose control and drain all your mana. Drains Mana.

Carpentry:

You notice that the wood is totally infested with bugs and therefore impossible to use. Loose wood.

Glasblowing:

Your gloves begin to burn. Loose a bit of health and gloves

Eating: You choke on the food (0.5% chance). Stunned for 5 seconds, possibly lose a little health.

Sheep shearing: You slip and cut the sheep with your scissors (5% chance, or skill based). The sheep loses some health.

Aww come on... no demons that appear, steal your wheat, and then walk off merrily into the forests in the distance? ;)

Actually, I really like these suggestions, though my only real qualm is with the wheat growing into weeds instead of wheat...or.. grain... or whatever. Won't that make a very drastic abundance of beggars by technical, unavoidable even through RP, standards?

Basically what i mean by that is that weeds that are already growing choke your wheat then grow from that, and thta's what you end up finding.

You could even make it so that if you flail the gathered weeds (assuming that the way to inform the player that they have gathered weeds is to provide them with a 'weeds' item when they scythe the crop, rather than come up with 3 tile graphics for weed squares) there is a chance of getting some yellow weed.

That sounds good, but then it'd proviude a way for people with too low perception and no herb lore wityh a way to get them, and they aren't really meant to without buying them.

I like alot of them but some seem a little unrealistic. The one made by another player, instead of a dagger you get a sword. Com'n?

"Oh I was making this sword and you know what, it turned out really little"

you more or less acnt "accidentaly" make a dagger, you could be short resources and deiced to change it into a dagger, but I think the mold would basically disenable you from accidentaly makeing a dagger or half armor or whatever.


Food
A statisc based event, I dont know how it would work but if your stats were a certain way you are alergic to a certain food.

Carpentry
You start on a large object "Bucket" but mistakenly cut the wood poorly, you may now choose from smaller objects to make. Probably not techinaclly possible but instead of throwing a log out you would probably try to salvage it by making something a little smallers or two smaller things.

This proposal is a good one. For us, it would be nice if someone could write a complete list of all proposed random events so we can discuss them in the team. Feel free to add more.

The events that could be realized are those who are a) simple b) positive.

I can probably go through and make a complete list, but should i seperate ones that are good but not implemental right now from the ones that are good and implementable right now, and the ones that are more trouble than they're worth i'll just leave out.

How about:
Some flies come along and the fish are distracted for a few minutes as they try to eat them~.01% :)

One has to start with something and I picked fishing.

The problem with many proposals is that we can not realize them. i.e. we can't make fishes dissapear for a given time (yet).

You wrote, there should be a chance to catch a random object. Which objects do you have in mind? Anything including walls, depot chests and flowers?

[sarcasm] Yes, walls! I always find them when fishing in rl![/sarcasm] But I mean basically any junk items that one can carry. Twigs, weeds, shoes, ect.

Can you apply a temporary skill reduction to a player with the current system? So you could implement 'all the fish have been scared away from your line for a little while' as 'The player's skill at fishing is reduced by half for a minute'.

Or is that not currently feasible?

In general, yes (hard work, of course)

But I don't think this event can motivate anyone to play Illarion. Try to think about something nice, something that makes you smile.

I like this idea. "You find a precious (ring)". Such ideas are a) somehow funny b) motivating. There is just one problem; as soon as everyone knows that one can find rings while fishing, everyone would fish 24/7.

But keep on thinking about such ideas.

What about this:
You find a bottle with a paper in it. On this paper is a treasure map. If you dig on the shown position with a shovel, you find something. Is it possible to make that? With a shown image and that?

Impossible with the current game.
We have no maps, no maps in bottles, no routine to create tiles / items on random places, no...

We can such things as quests, but as a random event (something that happens from time to time), no.

But any ideas are appreciated.

I don't know if that many people would start fishing jut because they have a possibility of finding a ring just make the ring less precause like a normal gold ring or something like that... :?

With that bottle idea, maybe it could just contain some sort of message or haiku, nothing special, just a fun little thing for finding it, that could work.

What about mining? Currently, you find, what you search for and nothing else. In the past, one was able to find random items like gold nuggets and gems. What else do you have in mind?

(Things like "The cave collapses and the big Wullah comes to scare away the miners" are not possible, sorry ;-) )
