The town Troll's Bane got the name because Trolls - or Ogres, how we found out - were known to live on this island.
The town name represents the fact that every Troll or Ogre who steps inside, is unlikely to survive it.

How about "Troll's Isle" ?

I think this is too simple, too ordinary, too boring. This is not against you.

I like the name "Île Larión": That is something new. And in my opinion, it looks very beautiful, not that normal ((English)).

I wish we could find a name which is related to the peculiarities of this isle. In this case I would agree more with Damiens proposal than with "Ile Larion". ((Illarion is the name of the game. So it's OOC))
Nevertheless it's an important discussion. Please don't let it end like the last try. I am tired of talking of "this isle".

I agree there with Phelix. I would also like to voice my liking in the name "Aandar", meaning "mystery", as already proposed by someone anonymously. If you'd like a new proposal, the name "Shadowreed" (Schattenhalm in der alten Sprache) came to mind.

Harthad or Aandar would have my vote.

i thought the town was named Trollsbanes because Udan Trollbane was elected king or something

It's nothing mysterious in this island.

"Illarion" is the name we have for the whole world.
On ancient maps, one can sometimes find the phrase "Here are trolls". Some other, but provenly wrong maps defined this island as a living place of faeries and gnomes.
I am also against the use of elven names that describe paradisic circumstances. Every other elf also knows what i mean.
As i said, "Troll's Isle" would make much sense.

No, Udan Trollbane (NOT Troll's Bane) was not the namegiver, and he was king of a dwarven clan called Ironhammer clan.
Of course, the name also honors him a bit.

The trolls are not very abundant on this island, now are they? So why should we call it Troll's Isle then? It would make totally no sense. And I must agree, this island is not really paradise....

Sincerely,

They do exist, and this isle is known for having some Ogres and trolls on it. It's just a name that fits.

Then you could just as well name it Damien's Isle, for you exsist. I do not find it a suitable name.

I can repeat it once more:

"Île Larión" isn't elvish this way. It's in a language which is from far away from our island. - Or do I look like an elf?

I'm against such simple names like "Troll's Isle" It would only show that we aren't able to create a really new name. It is the same than calling a house which is made of wood "wooden house"... It's just nothing special.

Nothing mysterious on this island?
Are you deliberately lying?
Life and paths are full of mysteries, and this island is abundant with both.
I'm all for the name Aandar.

Of course, everything is full of mysteries, but this isle does not hold more mysteries than every other place. wich the name would imply.
The island is a place where many people live, we should use a name everyone understands. That's a matter of politeness too.

The island with the capitol Silverbrand should be called Island of Hope or Hope Island.

Not Faerlin, Hukhada, Zilfalia, Ikaritas or whatever.

Other names I´d accept are Tscherneland, Udania and Tialdin´s Island.

Why not simply name the island Silverbrand and allow us all to be slaves to the dwarves?

Belegi, that's a joke, isn't it? Of cause, I'm proud to be a dwarf, but not THAT proud.

Rackere grins when he sees his piece of paper. Then he wanders through the capital of Île Larión.

Name is something neutral with no meaning?
Tendales, or Ithaca, or Scylla...

...or name it Isle Trollmort - place where trolls die.

Isla Troll-Muerta ?
Hmmh... nope.

Does someone has a good, matching idea, without using languagues that are not known here or that noone understands ? Without using paradise-alike names, or untrue names that do not fit the nature of our island ?

Île Larión

It is stupid to make a name everybody understands. ((most would be a simple chain of english words))

You have to find a name, which doesn't mean anything and sounds good. Noone would be misunderstood and noone can misunderstand something that hasn't a meaning.

I think Île Larión sounds very good.

What does the shape of the island look like to you?
Name it after whatever it resembles geographically.

In addition i would like to add, that "Île Larión" sounds very bad. You can't call this small island after this realm, the gods have created.

I prefer "Harthad" or "Aandar"

If I had to choose between Isle Harthad and Isle Aandar, i'd pick Harthad.

We already know this is an Island, why must 'Isle' be placed before the name? The name could simply be 'Aandar' or 'Harthad'.

I doubt anyone shares my sentiments, but "Isle of the Winds" doesn't sound like such an unreasonable name to me, as that is how most of us got here. It seems as if only a few inhabitants were actually born on the isle.

Although, seeing as that oppinion probably won't be accepted, I prefer Aandar.
