((I still think it sucks they can lock it up though...granted they want to keep the outsiders out, but still....Kinda ruins it for everyone else....Im not going to go and stand outside their little island to wait for a hobbit to showup then beg him to let me in just to look around around...besides..this is peacetime..there are no wars that I know about so they should have no reasons to lock up their cities))

((Yeh, but we dwarves have perfectly good reason to keep our gates closed, we don't want thieves and no-gooders from the surface. Elaralith, anyone?
AFAIK, dwarves are highly secretive of their crafting methods, and extremely protective when it comes to their treasures. Hence the closed gates.
This wouldn't be an issue if Silverbrand wasn't that close to the town, and if we had 24/7 guards there repelling the unwanted guests.))

((and by the side, it is normal that a dwarventown is locked up with gates. that is the normal behaviour for a dwarventown and their citizens. and it isn't unusual for halflings to kill intruders who attacks their town. just read moonsilver, theire ya can read that halfings will use force if the have to do it.))

(( Note: I think we should stop the OOC now because it is Ruining the thread...
Would Hallfings really want Orcs trampling through there lands because they had no way to keep them out?...Or would they want to let in a criminal just because by not doing so they might be stoping their fun? I think you have to ask these questions also before you start saying we should have open gates. And also we have not killed a single person without aid from another race and in these Extreme cases (1 i believe) the offender has attacked our members and refused to leave after being warned ))

((well hell...anyone will use force if they have to...even my crazy grandma "Gramma Muffin"...I just would hate to see every race getting their own city but locking them up to "Keep out the thieves" and such. How fun would that be to live in your town, or trollsbane, and that was it..it would be neater to be able to travel to the different cities withut worrying to have someone let you in, or bribe someone to elt you in...oh..and who said I was goping to do anything bad to the hobbit city..although I should cause ark hates hobbits, im not gonna....why burn a new town and give you the reason to keep it locked up?))

((Right... and I'm sure the player of Caranthir is a dwarf and lives in an underground cave away from the surface. How about YOU learn to tell the difference instead of trying to take petty shots at people who clearly know the difference. The difference between OOC and IC is about context, not just where you put your brackets.))Caranthir the great wrote:((Yeh, but we dwarves have perfectly good reason to keep our gates closed, we don't want thieves and no-gooders from the surface.
