Eh? I was commenting that Misj has GOOD roleplay, and that was WHY he got the runes. And that THAT is his success.

This always happens on games about the fighting circle. But has anyone been in a fight against a archer there pretty damn tough to.

SO I'm confused... How exactly at the moment does one receive the runes for magic? Are you supposed to roleplay a mage without any technical tools and hope the GMs notice you? Or do you send in a request???? :?

right now you get them by other players who have runes, teaching you.

i dont know how they were chosen (i think it was good mage RPers, chosen by GMs) but they have to teach others, that they trust, magic.

I thought that the teaching system wasn't yet in place... oh well. Anyway is anyone even capable of teaching yet? I don't believe they are but correct me if I'm wrong.

I'll be patient. Kinda annoying though that magic was made to take months before it spreads. :?

Thats because they wanted magic to be something special...not something everyone could have.

by Arkadia Misella
Oh yeah..something special that a few people can use constantly everywhere.

I must admit it is getting really old seeing magic every time I get on the server.

Yeah, really f'ing special guys. The select few keep using it like the United States uses gasoline.

I know only a couple people that have aids.....that doesn't make aids "special".

Do I see you everytime on the server?
No I do not.

I'm reffering to every single mage as a whole. You are all over using it. I frankly do not care I do not have it. Instead I am just sick of seeing it.

You all need to learn a little self control.

Oh...my bad. That would interfere with your skill gaining.

All you see are small spells. casting food, what just shows you an ancient text, and something like teleportation or moving items closer.

So no, as long as you don't see the real huge and impressive spells, you can't say you are seeing magic at every corner ;)

And that will stop soon, when they get their own building.

by Arkadia Misella
Shit. I am sorry. I didn't realize seeing someone everywhere I go casting something, regardless of the mana output, did not constitute seeing magic.

God, aparently I am the one in the wrong here. I guess no one ever sees magic in game.

Stupid me.

That can happen. Don't worry

 .

It is a difference what you see. Summoning some food, or closing a door with a wave of your hand is not really uber magic used too much. That are daily spells, common spells.
Get used to them.

Daily spells? Common spells?

Then why the hell is it so special everyone can't have them if they are daily or common?

by Avareniah
But you cannot complain about seeing magic every time you go in game when only a few people have it. What is it going to look like if they handed it to everyone??

People would try to out-spell each other. And an open-door, close-door war would go on. Just like when opening and closing doors was implemented.

You can't have it both ways. Pick an argument.

You misunderstood, Arkadia. There are spells for the daily use. summoning food, opening or closing doors. And some more powerful spells, not made for that. Attack spells, Wallspells, and so on. Which should be used just in proper situations.

That stronger spells are the reason why not everyone should learn magic. casting an apple closer, and killing you with a hot flame are two complet different things. the one is harmless, the other one needs alot of responsibility. But both belong to the whole topic "magic"

Can i say i love you? ^^

Even if you say that "Good RP and trustworthyness" gets you some part of this Magic Monopoly that seems cornered to Prewipe mages (No offence, it's just how i see it.) It's obvious why neither of my mages got runes. I think my RP on both are decent, and Trust me, Taylor wouldn't go spreading the magic like crazy. And i'm not saying that i am bitching about not having the runes. But you saying that they are daily and common spells, Then shouldn't a boy, who has the runes carved into his arm, and was raised as a wind mage, be able to close a door with wind, or move something to him? Obviously, it is not common or daily.

Read what i wrote. And Taylor had simply not the attributes for magic.

And Samantha is no prewipe magechar, just like Misjilah.

I said some spells are common, many are not.

I see where both sides are coming from. I lost someone over the "unfair" ways of gaining magic. And on the other hand, the people that have the runes now need to use their magic to learn and develop, otherwise it will not be passed on and we'll all bitch and whine that we don't see any magic and that it is once again taking too long to get magic out there.

Once again, we can't have it both ways.

Edit: He means POs of chars that were around pre-wipe. Not necessarily the characters themselves.

And Read what i wrote. Taylor is by no means an Accomplished Magister. More than Likely he will be able to use less than 5% of the spells because of him being a warlock. His magic is purely Support. Healing and Support to his weapon. Thats it. Maybe Sam is not prewipe, But you are. If i remember correctly, One of the Archmages went around killing people with magic that offended him. Glad to see he expressed control.

If EVERYONE had it and I saw it constantly, it would not bother me. Why? Because everyone has it and it is what I would expect!

Right now a handful of people have it. A very small number. And you cannot get away from it. Seems ironic that the "Special" part of the game is the thing I see most often.
That stronger spells are the reason why not everyone should learn magic.
The last time I checked, this game gives you the oppurtunity to be anything you want. ANYTHING. Don;t you dare take that possibility and freedom away because you are afraid of abuse of something. If that is the case, get rid of every single damned stat and skill, because I @#*$ing promise you everything is getting abused to some degree or another.

I tend to agree that constantly using magic to open doors, or other 'daily magic' is a bit detrimental to the ability as a whole.

When there is 'daily magic' it soon becomes 'common magic', and that defeats the whole 'magic' portion of it. It's not supernatural anymore. It's not wonderful, or incredible, or amazing. It's just "Oh, those lazy mages, they're such arrogant folk".

I would hope that some of the current mages might support one of the three cardinal rules of the former magic academy.
Magic is a powerful gift. Do not use it, unless it is really necessary.
I get the impression opening doors isn't a necessary task warranting the use of magic. I've got no problem with practicing, but it would be nice if the mystique associated with magic exists for more than three weeks.

Ark did not get a rune.

I did not bitch. I should, but I won't, even though I think she over some of the newer characters deserves it far more.

Just face it, you mages are using it far too much to either :

A: Feel cool in front of people
B: Raise your skills
C: Roleplay a fat-assed lazy mage who uses magic for EVERYTHING in life. Last time I checked, none of you are.

I think something like summoning food is fine to be seen "commonly", even if magic is special. As logn as we dont see campfires being replaced by magical flames, it's fine ;). And yes Taylor, everyone who didnt get runes but should have is a bit perturbed, but it wont change anything. Youll have to wait until others can teach you.

with the stats you've told me Taylor has you won't be able to use any magic old boy. but PM's can sort that all out, no need to do it here.

Arkadia, you don't like it, then just stop logging in problem solved. it's this kind of bitching that makes the dev's pissed off. take your bad day somewhere else please, or better yet get some sleep and start a whole new bad day
