There was also a time when a warrior could kill a mage in 2 hits, which was realistic.

I was not saying they should not. At no point i did.

But it was logical back then, A mage can obviously burn a warrior in a few attempts, but a warrior could slice open arteries of a mage and have them bleed to death in a few attempts.

Well, seriously. A couple of hits with a sword would kill anyone... Not only mages. One flame that consumes you would kill you instantly. But I have never seen a game that is that realistic. Maybe it would be nice though. I dunno.

I see a runescape solution cropping up.

Fighting < Magic < Archery < Fighting

Yeah and there are no archers, so...

by Retlak
I think thats due to the current cost + work for carpenters to make many arrows...

New crafting system cropping up, genius!

And probably the fact no one wants to stand around shooting arrows at pigs for a long time

The object is not to become more realistic. If you want to make the fighting/magic system this realistic then I would hate to hear your idea about crafting.

I just wish I had a good reason for why NPCS do not give magic res....I asked like 10 times and get no response that makes sense in the game.

the response made sense if you think of magic resistance as negating the magic with your mind, you just think otherwise

Then explain why we can still get it from other mages.

I dont. it wasnt I who stated this in the first place. Arameh I think it was, said that a warrior should kill a mage in a couple of hits, and that this was realistic

Since when does it matter who started something?

I do not think a warrior should be able to kill a mage in two hits and vice-versa.

I am not really for realism, I am for fairness and balance, I stated that because some PO mages would say stuff like "magic should kill instantly since its a big bunch of ice fire whatever that strikes you"

There are archers, though few and far between. My ranger of course. But he isn't good enough to even take down a noob.

If magic and meelee combat are to be balanced, I first suggest that all weapons break after five consecutive uses, that way warriors won't have the unfair advantage of outlasting mages.

But mages can escape in seconds.

Booya.

But warriors are able to wear metal armours! I think mages should be allowed to wear metal, so that it is more realistic, and we'd have a greater variety of magic casters.

oh yes, mages running around in platemails, suuure!

farewell logic. welcome platemail wearing and two shield using powermages of old times!

YES!

It'll add a whole new dimension to the system! Currently, the magic system is very restricting for roleplay, as you can only play sissies like samantha or athian.

They can only teleport out if they get the time to cast the spell, and having it succeed.
Wich can take quite a while I reckon.

As for the mages in platemail, well only for more balanced battlemages.
But can you really stop a mage from wearing some light lor-angur, I mean tech wise?

I suggest that runes disappear after five uses as well. :P
