Alright everyone you ever think to stop biotching about how overpowered the temple is and how unfair that they have a safe haven for evil doers. Why do you not think a bit and come up with say an opposing force? Say a temple to a god of light that provides a meeting place for the forces of good. Wow that was a real hard thought to come up with. It took me all of 2 minutes. People should really think things through before they start complaining so much. Think of a solution not the problem itself. I am not saying this is the only option there are other options too you just have to think for a bit and stop sulking saying there is no way to do what I want.

I agree. Create a.. 'Temple of Light' or some shiznit like that.

The problem with that is the temple for the bad guys is a homogenizing force, while the rest of the people in the island are fragmented in terms of political affiliaition, religious affiliation, among many other differences. I don't see how setting up something like that would be successful.

I clearly stated this may not be the only option, there are others. Just take some time to think of a solution to the problem. Also, many in the temple have different opinions or religious affiliation. One of my characters worships Cherga, where I know other temple members worship Moshran or say Ronagon. I am just giving examples. Stop letting petty differences get in the way. The temple puts their petty differences aside and look where they are now. A force that has to be reckoned with.

The solution would be to give my character a mace that kill everyone on a one hit automatic swing.
Really though, I think the temple is well played out. Fooser is right about one thing though that all evil character can join up there with out any kind of seperation of theifs murders and just plan ass crazy mofos. while the good side is spilt down for we should kill all evil, We should try to help thoses lost souls , and eah smile it nothing has really changed.
I think given time this will change and evil people will try to seperate once nalzaxx cant deliver any more power so I the best thing the temple can do IMO is keep on track.

It's funny how far people will go to defend what benefits their character sometimes. "Well, if you think it's unfair you should change *your* rp and build a temple for *your* people."
I think these people are saying they preferred things when there was no temple, rather than that they wish everyone gets a temple!

In fact, such a cult would, if achieving power, definitely use the method of regular human sacrifices to be granted a bit more power by Bjolmur or Cherass, perhaps even by Drargorog. Even if it were true, in my eyes I see the temple as more an organistion which works in the background, prefering to use the lower criminals and villains to do their biddings, without directly fighting and endangering themselves. Which is why I believe they would much rather prefer to keep their city safe, then walk about some town killing archmages. This also works in a ooc sense, taking away some of the unfairness as many people would claim.
Several people complain of the temple being unfairly secure, but this is the whole point! The villain chars need a place to rp...you'd prefer it if you just marched up there, killing everyone and the villains went and rped at the farmers union or some other inactive, depot-holding place?

The safe haven for the 'bad character' is exactly as Alkuurg says, But nothing is new. It just gives the characters a depot to use safely, and something to do instead of logging out away from rp active areas (which they cannot stay in obviously).
Alkuurg told me earlier "If it was up to me, i would have the city to be unknown to the in character people. That way, people would see that the temple really changes absolutely nothing. Bandits would still come, theive, run, perhaps get caught on occasions."
And i have to completely agree on this point.
Another point: Most of your complaints should be addressed to the individual players themselves, as it is no organisational problem from the town. (returning from cross, running behind buildings pretending to freeze and log out, Yes, even the good characters do this too, but you don't see me whining to the knighthood of kallahorn because of one member who did this).

Yes, Retlak is correct, if many of you have seen the temple you'd complain alot less, Nalzaxx really made a mess of things.

. Also, you wont find Retlak supplying anyone with anything, perhaps Galthran gives a few items to his bandits, but that doesn't matter. Retlak, whilst being pushed does little other then rp a lazy, legless lich.
Another temple problem, Retlak goes afk in the most ackward places and situations, we end up having to fight 3 demon skeletons alone while the po eats a muffin.

Anyway, to sum things up, where you all think the temple is some sort of mighty fortress.
Think of it as what it really is: A safe access depot for bad chars, and a place to rp and meet there own kind.

Indeed, abolish the temple and the villain characters will simply stand around some inactive town and you'll find it alot harder then, as you would have no idea where we are, or what we are doing.

I'm not going to read through all six pages of ranting and semi-flames, so if this has been said already, I'm sorry.
I have mentioned this before, and I will mention it again here.
My one big complaint with the Temple is that once a character joins, that's *it*. There is no option to leave peacefully. I know ofr at *least* six characters who joined the temple and then later regretted it... but if they tried to leave, they would be hunted down and destroyed as a character (ie, Liles.)
Honestly, as mutable as this game is, as changing and evolving as the characters are (one of my favorite aspects of this game), leaving the Temple really should be an option. And I mean being able to leave and continue a life other than hiding in a dark corner of the map and praying none of the other Temple members find you and drag you back to have your soul removed or worse.

I think sometimes it has to be put down to a lack of foresight on the players part. I have met (or heard of) some people who, like you say joined the temple and then later regretted it. My opinion is that they are clearly told they can never leave, but they still join anyway. And I cannot understand some people's RP reason for joining the temple. Really, it should only be for evil characters, who are never going to become good again.

Some characters are confused and make mistakes. They do things that they think will help in the long run but soon find that things are not as they seem.
