Hello folks!
Although I'm really in no position to attend any sort of RL meeting at the moment, I think it would be great if there could actually be an official meeting somewhere in the US of A since it's never really been done before and I'd really like to see it happen. Now, I understand it's been a while since anybody's posted here and it looks like the attempt to have this meeting has probably failed. I also understand that it's a little harder to accomplish something like this because everybody from the west coast is too scared to come on over to the east coast and vice versa.
No, just kidding.
But there is a little something I've noticed while browsing around the last four or five pages. Everybody talks about how they will do this and do that. Yes, it seems everybody talks about how they will get drunk, get a clown drunk, dance on a rooftop, steal magazines from the local Wal-Mart, eat chips while pointing at the television set and laughing at it, drawing a stick figure on a sheet of paper and sending it to some guy who lives in Cuba, etc.
Well, you know what I mean I hope.
The way I see it though, there have been 26 hits for Maryland and in my opinion, 26 is a good enough number to have a meeting because it definitely beats sitting around at Pizza Hut with two strangers, a dog that escaped from the local pound and a pizza that isn't even crispy enough to taste -- so it could have bad flavor. Of course, it's probably been a long time so the people who did vote for Maryland have probably forgot about this topic anyway. I think it would be best if somebody could quite possibly delete all the non-serious posts, start over with the topic or at least start over from this post on. If you post here, let your post be worth something and let it be about how you can manage to meet with other players rather than to brag about how you can bring Tom Hanks to the meeting so everybody can make fun of him for actually volunteering to do the voice of Woody for Disney's Toy Story 1 and Toy Story 2.
Maybe a new poll should be started too?
Sure, it still may not work out because everybody has their own personal schedule that they have to follow or maybe they can't travel around to different cities very easily but I don't think we should give up. I'm not pointing fingers at certain people here and I'm not trying to criticize anybody by the way, I just think it would be great if we could actually pull this meeting off though.
That's just my three cents.

It is happening. I've recieved no PMs as I requested and its going to be less than a month away so the time for recieving "Wait, I wanna go to Maryland" messages is well past. As of the moment there are four of us and we won't be going to Maryland. Seeing as how all of us attending live in New England we're going to be staying up around this area. But don't be sad. We'll take tons of pictures and we'll be holding another one after the first of the year (probably in the spring). This being our first attempt we didn't expect a big turnout, but just like the ones they hold in Germany they'll get bigger every year. The next one will be better planned (we'll have a planning committee, etc) and whomever can make it can make it.

Oh, great.
I apologize, as I thought everybody had simply given up completely on this topic. I look forward to hearing about the next meeting, hopefully I can help out next time depending on what's going on in my world. Personally, I wouldn't mind attending a party so I can dance with a german shepherd in front of a live audience while singing a song about applesauce.
Thank you for the clarification!

New plan proposal: Quin, I know we talked about camping out, but I can't get the trailer down here in time... however I was cleaning out my closet last night and I found three airbeds... and my apartment has a large living room as well as the aforementioned pool tables, swimming pool, fireplace, and picnic area/campsite, so... who wants to come to my house for the weekend?
Oh and guess what else?! I can get discount passses for the Museum of Science through the library I work at, hehe... we can all go for $4 a person

Ooooh. That's not bad at all. And I could do it for the weekend cheaply. Hmm.

I still think we should have multiple meetings. Germany is small enough to draw anyone in Germany, but the US is so much larger. Whoever's in Las Vegas could organize one there. I'll be happy to organize one here in the Heartland.
Out of curiosity, is anyone within driving distance of St. Louis? If so, how about we meet the weekend the 'New Englanders' do? Is there anyone interested?

Because America is so much larger than Germany its going to be expected that everyone can't always make it due to distance and cash flow. There will be multiple meetings, as stated. And a planning committee, as stated. Anyone can meet someone else whenever they want (I've met Walter twice already and Chrissy once).

This meeting (and future ones) sure will be great for all the mid-country to east-coasters.. Its really a shame that everyone on the other half of the country(ies) will have to pay a ridiculous amount to get over there.

Dude! There's already an Illa meeting in your house! There's three of you! And you had a visit from... that guy... whose name I can't remember and will be throttled for, I'm sure. So no complaints.
My Illa meeting would consist of Derek Crydon, Pocal, and The Returner. I'd be the only one still playing. SO you hush up.

Not everyone can be happy with what we all end up with. Fortunately, I am because I get to stand over Chrissy and stare while she is asleep!

It really is a shame. >.< I've already said there'll be a planning committee. The next ones most likely will be toward the center of the states to give more people a chance to come. It really is a shame. This one is so fly-by-the-seat-of-the-pants. We didn't even know where we were going until wednesday and if it wasn't for Chrissy we probably wouldn't be having it at all. Its already been stated that we knew not many would make it, and its already been stated that not everyone will always be able to go, if we had to wait until everyone could make it the meeting would never happen so we have to be realistic. But the good word is that there will be MORE meetings. So we know how much of a shame it is that everyone can't come. We already feel bad because not everyone can come. The next ones will be planned and coordinated better, I assure you.

As Jaime already said, it's a shame that we can't have a location that is more easily accessible - but I think everyone needs to step back and take a look through the thread - in the beginning I asked only for people that could definitely make it to a meeting to vote for a location - maryland won by those that said they would come, and then one by one people began to cancel, until it was just Jaime, Alli, Corey and I left. Since we're all short for cash and in New England (roughly) it made the most sense to meet here.
I know people are upset that our meeting is so far East, but no one really gave a commitment -- "I'll only go if it's in my city" or "I'll go but need a free ride" doesn't count as commitment, sorry.
If you want a meeting in your city, ORGANIZE one there. In the meantime, at our meeting we will be brainstorming ways to make a meeting that more people can go to, and there will be plenty of notice for everyone to secure rtides, etc. this time.

I'm thinking that I might just have to push Corey out of the car door while driving to Massachussettes and say, "You're banned!" ^^

Sorry to disturb that american topic, but...
this is NOT how things are done.
"Make one here."
"Make one there."
No.
YOU make one here or there. If you want to have a meeting near you, well, organize one. Don't tell others to do this and that, do it yourself. Someone has to do it and I bet there's noone who is a meeting organizer by genes.
This is how things work.
If everyone said "make one there!", there would have been no meeting so far, I mean also the german/european ones.
