Okay I know we show Height in game of character but is there any way to show weight or something of that nature.

We tried scaling the width and the height of character separately in order to show height and weight of the character. And trust me: You don't want that. It looks extremely ugly.

I have always wondered this, and I'm sure there is a good explanation...

Why doesn't the stuff you wear actually show on your character?

-Such as clothes (obviously)

-Different belt slots mean different places on your character
--Top would be back
--Top left would be left part of waist
--Top right would be right part of waist
--Middle would be behind part of waist
--Bottom right would be right leg
--Bottom left would be left leg

When we're done, it will be possible to see a proper graphical representation of your character, complete with skin colours, hair styles, different looks depending on the type of armour or clothes you're wearing, and even the type of weapon you're holding. We're using Ultima Online as a rough graphical inspiration for this system, so expect something a little like that, only slightly more basic (as we have certain technical limitations to adhere to).
The topic is only four pages.

Are the things on our belt gonna be shown too? Might be kind of strange walking around with a piece of ham attached to your belt...

Do not expect that we create for every useless item some small animated graphic that moves along with your avatar. ;-)

There will be a limited set of things shown. Things you really see... no 4x4 pixels of ham.

anyone remembers the str/dex dependant ava looks from "evil islands"?

higher str made shoulders and arms wider, the whole shape more masculine,
while more dex changed the whole into slenderness...
((independant from size/weight))

just keep it in mind, if you develop any trigger-function-stuff...for the engine;

would be surely bothersome to develop things from the scratch, if ever some paperdolls appeared from nowhere...

I miss items which giving auto-description. Like those bandages. Like:

His left arm is tied by bandage.

Clothes, rings etc. could give more attractiv or social position.

Golden chain, symbol of merchants guild, adorns his neck.

After about an hour of reading.... i have a couple things to say.
1) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vgAi7DYHA94 ROFL..
2) I think the idea of bigger shoulders and such is good.
3) Almost all of these ideas are awesum
4) We should make a certain mount for each race (World of warcraft, im sorry.)

Goes as follows
Humans - Horses (Obv)
Orcs - Wolves (Obv)
Elves - Hard to say, maybe Pegasus? (Winged horse) Or unicorn.. (In a totally non homo way... No rainbows.)
Dwarfs - Rhino, Goat..?
Halflings - A little pony or a German shepard?
Lizardman - A crocodile, a giant lizard.. Something reptilian.

You go to a shopkeeper and instead of "Buy horse/wolf/unicorn/rhino,goat/pony/german shepard/croc,lizard,reptile" you go "Id like to buy a mount"

8) :) :o :D  :P

what about mounts for
goblins:
gnomes:
and my personal favourite, not to mention most interesting in this case.
Fairy:
?

Goblins: Smaller goblins

Gnomes: Camaro (They are smart, afterall)

Fairy: A really fast eagle?... I don't think they need mounts.

lol

and eh... eagles+something that looks like a bug = bad
what would these mounts do anyway
i would like to see fairies have some sort of magical mount

Ooh... I see your point. I don't think many fairies would buy a mount that ends up eating them.

I really don't think a fairy would need a mount, though. Maybe just a feature that allowed them to go faster.
A racial perk, much like lizards fishing without fishing poles?

Meh... I'm not sure if the mount idea is even possible. I remember reading somewhere about characters not being able to "run" because the server won't let the characters move any faster, or something to that extent.

I'm pretty sure its been said before that mounts are a no-no currently, not due to graphics but due to the fact that they wouldn't do anything. Not even move faster.

Forget mounts. There won't be any within the next time. Speaking of years. Don't waste your time and your ideas with this. In case we ever get a good idea how to implement mounts, we will. But thats not the case and it won't be supported by this discussions.

How ever I guess in all the talking nobody noticed that Hemisphere appears gone. He was not seen since a long time and supplied close to no graphics. So we stand here we were before this thread.

Once was said (forgot in which topic) that the chars already move with maximum speed as possible.

Each step the server asks which direction (N,S,E,W) if possible (yes,no) and then you move one tile.

So mounts wouldnt increase it, just make your char bigger and take the sight to the fields behind him.

Maybe he was a troll :P

He comes here, promises us lots of awesome new graphics, posts some camouflaged swastikas and subtly insults the game frequently in various other threads then disappears. Be funny if he was just taking us all for a ride.
