:::Death:::
You should lose everything you were wearing when you died (maybe except your bag). And the armor which got the final death blow should break.
And maybe you should have to wait some minutes until you can resurrect. Or your constitution should be smaller for some time.
About skill loss:
At the moment the skill gain system does not seem to work perfectly, so I can't make a suggestion here. But if you lose skills, some kind of message should appear when you resurrect ("You feel weaker" or something).

:::Nobles:::
Again: The most "nobles" on Gobiath are nobles outside Gobiath; there is no aristocratic class which perhaps works together and prevents insulting etc. (e.g. a new arrived prince Z was insulted by Y, Z goes to noble X with has some power, tell it and X is going for Z...).
Midrusio is just against Stephen, because he knew him before he was governor. But I think his reign over TB is quite a fix thing : The most new characters/players hear form Stephen as the "boss" and accept it.
On the other hand: I think Stephen is away from his power if there will be a first real clash (Stephen: "Hello Midrusio, only citizens are allowed to enter the town. Take him to jail!" :)).

:::Undeads:::
If the GMs have no protests against it, characters like Dji, Gwen or Sam should attack skeletons in town without accusion of player killing if it's the character concept.

PS: Sorry for awful english :).

They are quite welcome to attack us in town. Just don't be surprised if they don't manage to walk away alive. :wink:

If Dji and Samantha would attack you in town you would lose. but than you would come back from cross, gather your temple friends and kill our chars as soon as you see them alone and/or unaware. it is useless to defeat the undeads since they simply resurrect and take revenge. either that or the town throws you in jail as a criminal because you attacked and defeated an undead inside town :roll:

Thats a problem with everything. You defeat a criminal inside town? the next days he comes back and continues as if nothing happened. your have a battle with someone and defeat him? as soon as he got ressurected he will come back and take revenge. you ban someone because killing him has no success? he walks back into town because he doesnt care for a ban. he just waits until no guard is online

I don't really think you are justified in accusing me of that Samantha. I have never, nor will I ever, do something like that.

I wouldn't assume that. Nalzaxx is a fair player, so are the others.

My char got clouded as she attacked them - and I'm fair enough that yesterday and today my char won't fight and won't even wear armour, simply, because she is wounded and it takes some time til she is fit again.
She has faced them yesterday though, though she did not attack.

I expect and I believe that the players of tempel members show and will show the same fairness, if the situation is given.

And since we haven't been in this situation yet, we won't judge anymore about things we don't know. Okay?

If you don't stop with that sensless spamming, something pretty worse will happen.

My suggestions for death:

Basically, give the character a -ve food value permanently for a while; so he wont re-heal (just gets half health on resurrect) and will be too hungry (ie weak) to do anythign else.

THis should last for an IG month or so.. and should be ONLY when its a real "death" ie coup-de-graced... this would stop peopel getting clouded, healing and returning... it would also make death more serious.

Oh and your armor should be TOTALLY destroyed, i mean; you DIED... you were wearing it, it surely broke...

It depends...if he exploded your head with a war hammer, the main armor shoulnt be broken, as example, you know?

Sure, put somethign randomised, if its a concussion weapon; then you lose a bunch of skills (and your helmet), but you keep the armor.

Oh and if its unarmed, your armor wont get dented...

Well, war hammer couldf as well break a main armor..or leggins..or anything, its would need to be rather random and would need work on EACH weapons.

I'm talking about the final blow... which WONT be on the leggings ;)

If its on the chest and its metal armor (heavy), then you probably bent the metal and got pierced yourself (oow...) .: Destroyed

If its light armor, then I don't think it should be destroyed.

-
If its on the head, then... no more helmet...
=
Above for concussion weapons...

Logically, but it would need too much work, we could just start with temporary loss of attributes, or dropping all we wear, cause they dont take that much time, then after we could look for something else.

Penalties executed upon character death won't encourage people to perform roleplay in every day tasks.

((Rough translation of my post a little bit upwards: ))

How about changing the rules so a tad more cooperation towards roleplay is compulsory (i.e. more #me's , thinking about the guidelines and background of ones character a little more, sticking to COMMON SENSE in one characters decisions more often) and then checking upon this every once in a while (no monitoring 24/7 but single people being "tested" regularly).

If they are seen as "lazy" regarding their roleplay they should be talked with and if they continue to show next to no interrest in trying a bit to help contribute to RP maybe penalize them one way or the other.

I think this is necessary because otherwise nobody is obliged to change himself and people stay as lazy as they are now regarding their roleplay.

This leads to those people who try hard to make the game worthwhile for themselves and others ending up frustrated and either performing closed-rp with others who try equally (thus splitting the comunity in roleplayers and.. uhm.. players :p, and making it hard for newbies to feel welcome) or becoming lazy players aswell.

Not really.. I don't think its THAT hard

pseudo-code

If concussion weapon then
a:=Randomise(2)
If a:=1 then (Helmet break routine), (skill loss routine)
if a:=2 then (Middle armor break routine)

end;

We CANNOT ask everyone to change the RP, and there are not enought active GMs to add new rules. Making death less a joke in the game system WOULD change the RP greatly, just think about it

Exactly Arameh.

Maybe I didn't put it clear:

I ask nobody to change their roleplay, instead everyone should add more detail and texture by making more #me's and pondering a bit more about a characters personality so we don't end up with the shallow people running around right now.

Furthermore common sense should apply to most characters for not everyone is lunatic enough to openly risk his life for stupid things (i.e. running after a dragon/other strong creature or insulting someone who could easily kill you because he assumes that the cross will save his day anyway).

It IS asking peoples to change their RP, you want everyone to start doing more #me's, you want everyone to be more careful, but we cant do that.

What do you mean? Thats just some random sentence you wanted to type here? There is no way you can ask everyone to change their RP, tons dont even read the forum, n00bs will just keep on like that and die 10x a day, we cant change it without changing the game system, END

The more #me's everyone types that add to the overall atmosphere of the game (I'm not talking about describing things like #me fills a bucket of water but about emotes, gestures, manners of speech and the like), the more intense the atmosphere in-game will get and the more exciting things will become.

At least in theory that should work.

If I can expect people that realy play their character and do not refrain from showing that by typing descriptions of their actions I am more likely to log-in because I expect people who guarantee a good roleplay experience. And if standarts are raised that will attract more people aswell.

I mostly enjoy intense roleplay situations with others, heated dialogues, quarrels, feasts, whatever where all players involved write enough so the other people may picture the situation in their minds, due to the limited means of displaying things through the client.

The technical aspects of the game such as skilling up (i.e. people running from mine to depot staying there without noticing the others and running back to the mine) should be secondary and roleplay primary, not as it is now, twisted.

Equally, one can say about modernized thinking effecting ingame roleplay; any same sex marriage would look like blasphemy to the gods and be condemned as well. But whenever anyone says that IC that are considered ass holes OOC.
