Japh, here is a hint.
Most quest i enjoy are about Animals (or monsters, etc.) that are GM controled. I dont enjoy Ctrl+Click nearly as much as i enjoy Roleplay.
Try making a quest basicly for non-fighting players. There are many more professions then Hack n' Slash

Because you have the mental capacity of a bacteria (hahaha..Pun intended. Bacteria HAVE no brain) and cannot seem to enjoy the more intriguing quests, with good plots, and with some thinking to it. Quests that do not involve killing something in the end? Quests that can just involve modest plots, or grand plots, which are large than a cm on paper?
Or maybe because Japheth does not seem to enjoy the fact you are sucking up to him ( I dunno, maybe he does ), or maybe because you for some reason have to point out time and time again that you are 12, you are going to commit suicide, and you are so so sad with puberty raging through you. Or when you are commenting other people's roleplay, while the infamous BYRON was your character.
So shut it, shut it against Hadrian (I must admit, I want to twist his neck around at times too, for a seemingly void brain at times that he posts), at Irania (yes you insulted her once), against Japheth (I seriously think he is not very impressed of you), and me (I know, you hate me soooo much right now).
Oh, and please, all sympathizers with Ziel, flame me. Please, all GMs who think I have "crossed a line", ban me for life.
And, this story was not ranted about just because of this post above, but just because of Ziel's general history.

Thanks for the hint, Ziel...
It is quite difficult to find the right balance of quest or event. The sad fact is, is that the more violent and hack 'n' slashy events get more coverage than those quieter introspective events.
An example: I don't suppose you ever heard of the event where a small group of people had to make a nice little potion, while dancing around a tree and avoiding the questions of two Golems. This type of event is less grand on scale and so sinks away.
However, the more violent ones get more roleplay posts on the boards and players tend to fixate on them.
I would say that the spider-hack slash was only my third full out monster attack. Players dont tend to notice the smaller events, because they are just that-smaller (and in my opinion, far better).

And I would have to go along in that opinion, dear JaphETH (oh god, he has a full name!)

The violent ones get more effect because they are more straight-forward, but what I find lacking in the "introspective" events are choices. I do not understand what it is like to have 30 players asking you questions and I assume that it is very difficult to answer all, but possibly during the quests that are to solve problems should have a GM willing to adapt. Instead of deciding how you want the event to go, you could make a rough outline and let the players decide by their actions. This way, if some egotistical hero tries to save the day, but fails, then the antagonist would prevail for a few more days.
As well as adapting to those large events, possibly to smaller ones as well. Instead of having a preset solution, let the players think of some what logical solution. If you feel it is logical enough and they execute it will then let the solution be one. I think a preset solution is alright, but give room for others to move and be creative as well. This will make these "introspective" quests feel less on train tracks and more like an entitiy.

Mummies are too damn hard to move without them breaking themselves or eating their own tongues.

Yup.
I roleplayed with what you all gave me, and the damage was done by you all! I think it went quite well. For future reference, try not to damage the goods!

that mummy quest had to be the most failure bent quest ever. I wouldnt imagine mummies being held together by tape and breaking at lsuch light touches. The mummy ran into a tree by itself because apparently i was runnning very quick.. i was no where near that tree, 2+ tiles away. It ate its own tongue while having other food to eat infront of it. And its teeth broke, i thought teeth were the strongest bones in your body =P. Its wrist broke while i was GUIDING it with the chains, i wasnt yanking the chains, and the mummy wasnt trying to go anywhere else. And was that its own arm it ate? That came out of no where.
It was a good idea but i was dissapointed by it

I don't imagine teeth surviving biting into the plate helm of Salathe. Especially the teeth of a barely held together corpse.

It was a mummy, Salathe. It is a rotted body. I can't imagine it has strong bones. And remember, mummies are a newbie monster, so it makes perfect sense for them to be rather fragile. Plus mummies don't have much in the way of grey matter inside the head.

The problem with non-hack and slash is also the fact that YOU can make them. Any player can invent getting himself ripped to shreds and needing medical attention, the creation of a potion; i had liked Pendar's ladder idea.
So if you want to see more of them, make them yourself

I liked the Mummy Quest (Even though I got lost in the woods before most of it happened) I thought it was fun little event that came rather randomly and I enjoyed playing it (Although My roleplay was terrible)

I was glad to have seen it...my char had lost all his money the night before to the ebul dragon, and it ended up being an easy copper making task, and taught him where the mummies are an everything. It was good.

Personally, i liked the "Orc coming on a raft wishing to buy supplies thing"; because it seperated the players; those who wished for money, those who wished for equality because he's an orc, and those who wished to kill him.
It was fun, can we have more of that?

Haha.... thank you everyone for the "They" thingy in the tavern. It was hilarious I couldn't stop laughing.
Just felt like mentioning it and saying thank you, it was great roleplay and I really enjoyed it.

Yes, a 12 year old little slave boy nearly beat a demon skeleton, I didn't actually see the good role play in that.

Hehe, I remember the situation as follows: A stupid but brave kid steps into the arena and gets a beating by a real monster. The kid falls, the beholder is amused and a true warrior gets the job done.

I enjoyed the quest today alot, though it was rather chaotic in the beginning *g*
Really funny was to find out which of the heads did lie, and which not. Lucky that my char has INT 17
Only thing that was pity : a lot of people were at Elara's shrine and prayed to her , waiting for a sign or something.
But hey, we can't have everything, can we? =)
