At the time, the orc Ashburg was quite strong, above average and probably better than most fighters, save muten, and anyway, Darlok killed Ashburg in one strike.

Bricklaying is common sense Kasume, and an unimportant issue. People winning conflicts is a lot more important.
The point is, that there were no such as bricks in the so called "time period" that Illarion is set in.

So? It's a fantasy game. Anything is possible, from bricks to throwing stars, from good guys to bad guys winning.

@Hermie - Wasn't Ashburg's number fairly new at the time though? I figured combat also had to do with how long you were around.

There was some speculation as to whether Ashburg was a powergamer or not. I won't say either way, because I really don't know, but I do know he was a strong fighter.

My guess is that he was stronger than Hermie and there was a time not too long before that when Hermie and another Halfling (Bumbol, or Brendan or someone, I don't remember) killed Darlok together, only to have him come back and destroy us with his paralyse throwing pals

Ahh, those fun days..

@konstantin

stop using the word PK, it means playerkilling. and that means killing you because of ooc, not ig. we never killed you for that, never we killed anyone for that. saying that we are doing playerkilling is a form of ooc insult. so stop this and don't complain because you lost. you forgotten to mention that you said you could easily kill all guards and imbue the town in blood. yes, of course, someone who said that will be allowed again in town

he problem is. People don't play the evil character correctly.

Just because they are not topenly going around killing people without remorse doesn't mean they aren't evil.

So, I'm confused here. Which one of you is the one saying that Darlok played a successful bad guy not because of GM powers? And if so, then what's stopping you from following along similar lines to play a bad guy?

Because Darlok went around killing people who botthered him a bit. You can be a dormany evil or lawful evil...aka hagen

I believe Darlok played his part well. But it wasn't the part as an evil swordsman, or an evil cupcake salesman. He played the part of an evil NECROMANCER! I bet if anyone had that power, even KASUME, he could be exceedingly evil. It doesnt' take much conversation to deside you're evil when you can whip out an army of rotworms with a few clicks. I'm not trying to take a cheap shot at Darlok, I'm just saying there was other well played evil charas. Bloodhearte, Arkadia, and even Grant were all evil, but they get no mention. Probably because they didn't get their Quests accepted by the GMs. You can't say their RP was bad, and they weren't well played evil charas, just becuase they never got much mention. If you were a criminal, would you like everyone to know it? I know some are fame-seekers and such, but most criminals don't want that kind of publicity. So you not hearing about them, is NOTHING odd at all.

Sorry to insult you, Galim.

Common terminology for MMORPGs:

mob - mobile object (monster)
mk - mob kill (when u kill an npc)
pk - player kill (when u kill a playable character)

I don't see your point.

Konstantin did not whine because he lost. He just uses the word "pk" for being killed in something that looks like an ooc issue to others.

No need to get angry or insulting in any form, Galim.

I am not saying my char was killed for an ooc reason.
I am saying that he was killed using OOC knowledge and cheap shots.
Common example of persona play.

U knew ooc that I cannot swim. U knew ooc that there is no path from south to north. U thought ooc that I was going to log off like Elaralith in the middle of a run, and u hurried to kill me. Opposite to showing RP courtesy by saying something like "#me throws a rope and gets his foot in a loop" or "#me calls the archers on the town walls, and they take aim".

More then that, knowing that K is a slightly supernatural priest of ronagan, when I made a move spreading the smoke around me, you clearly stated ooc using double brackets ((you're not expecting us to react to that smoke thing, right?))

What creativity do you leave me other then run or attack?

Exactly. It's just shades of skill and red blinking crosses for you guys. All that matters. To hit ctrl, or alt... and attack.
It's sad.

on Kasume:

Kasume seems to argue with every little word I write. I sense a grudge. People don't write this way unless they are mad at me.
I wonder what Kasume has to argue about my following statement:

I like Kasume. He is a nice guy!

Tee hee...

Suddenly making black dust appear, think of something else please. It's not an excuse to log out. Ever...

OR, you can actually take in consideration of other reasons. Such as one suggested by Moathia. Maybe the gaurds just simply don't want to believe you in IG. Really, I think you're complaining in OOC about an IG matter. And you don't really realize it.

Did that really just come from you?

Not every word.
And I don't take sarcasm well. If you want me to stop, don't do idiotic things like that.

If Konstantin roleplayed smoke about him, the other roleplayers hsould have respected the action, how else are you suppose to respect your roleplay actions in return.

The point of roleplay is to be inventive, to slay another person is as simple as playing space invaders, let us make a characters death something worth speaking about..

Persona play is playing the character as a representation of yourself. Although it could be considered RP most players think it's wrong or cheap. The Persona characters have no backgrounds (because your background in real life wouldnt' fit in Illarion) and don't have well written, real sounding RPs (because nothing in real life is well written)

No one here is a judge of Character (I love that pun) so don't worry about it. It's the least prefered kind of RP, but none the less it is RP. Dom is a lot like me, but he was meant to have my personality type. No one can honestly say his RP isnt' sound, and even though some dislike the way I play him, I have never had anyone say I had a bad RP.

Trust Kasume to pick up my typo before i correct it :D

lol, no worres its all good

Night people

And regarding the topic,, everyones first character is slightly persona play.

Those who deny this fact are amazing roleplayers who needed nothing to learn by.

Night....

lol, smooth, Arist.

Here, I have a proposal on how to make this less touching to players.

When a char dies - let them drop only one item, and not lose any skills.
Instead, when a person dies, he becomes a ghost and teleports to a prison of a sort, like that chessbox in spirit world.
He waits in there until, like 5 other people die. Only 5 ghosts per box. Then, the spirit is released to go to the cross.

This will give death length, a long meaning. And less frustrating, since no big losses happen.
Powergaming is already not an issue, considering new training/fighting system, so no need in skill decrease by death.

Nice? :D

But hey, then players would not be hurt when their "personal representation" char dies.

Death should mean wait time and item loss. Not skill loss, because people always get upset for lost skills.

Now, flame me! 3, 2, 1 - go!

I don't think you should have to wait for people to die. That's... sort of silly.
