My char can kill with 3 Ra Kel Qwan

And your char has which attributes and skill?
He means it is too weak for normal player chars

I disagree, I think its just right at the moment. The Ra Kel Qwan are not too powerful, yet are not uselessly weak either...

And again.
Your lich has what attributes and skills?
We speak about normal playerchars, unpushed in their skills and attributes!

I think that Ra Kel Qwan is totally fine. If it should be changed to anything, then to the same amount of Damage that Hept Kel Qwan has (if that isn't the case)
Otherwise all the Qwan spells are fine to me.

Samantha has to cast now 6 hept kel qwan to kill a single pig.
But she also died several times now and got no skillpush, and cant get any skill back because of the skillgain bug

Well, we can't meassure it on killing pigs though.
You kill a demon skeleton more easily with magic than a pig.

Pigs have sometimes unbelievable magic res now...
when samantha still had her skill and her items i tried storm spells on the pigs...that damn thing even backfired o_O
Either because of the pig, or an invisible gm was there too, lol

What's up with that bug?
Posted: Mon Sep 25, 2006 8:51 pm
by Samantha Meryadeles
That bug makes skillgain on higher levels that incredible hard that you get as good as no skill anymore. especially in magic where skillgain is even without the bug more hard than in other areas.

How high are we talking when we say 'higher levels'?

nitram weren't exact with that, but green and up from there i believe. none of my chars was able to level up in any of his skills which are green or higher since the bug is active.

Pigs do seem oddly resistant to magic, but if that's intentional, so be it.

May I add that the skillgain routines were changed intentionally afaik? Thus, no bug there...
Statistically, one needs 3850 actions to raise a skill from quite high to quite high+1 (in a certain case that was written down as an example).

3850!!!!
How much time do you think we have?
An by actions, does this mean we get the same amount of progress from casting weaker spells?

Magic is treated a bit different, other values might hold there. All I wanted to say: The massive decrease in skillgain is not a bug. It works the way it was ment to work. And no, I do not like it the way it is.

Estralis, Nitram told me there is a bug in the new skillgain system through which it takes even more long to raise the skill, through that you have as good as no skillgain. for example, Samantha used up 50 mana potions for a single blue swirl. and that by a green skill.
Shandariel crafted 100 of the best shields, and got nothing.
skill gain on higher level is simply too slow, far too slow.

The bug where you nearly gain no skill at all is named "Illarion" in my experience. I've never had the patience to keep up with you people in skills. =)

Well, if there is an additional bug, sorry, I haven't heard of it yet.
But something tells me that Aegohl is just right...

Ah, the ingenious system by which powergaming is prevented by making it a neccesity to powergame.

haven't read this in awhile but basically this means that it's virtually impossible to have a regular player character teach magic effectively. hasn't anyone thought of fixing this nonsense so that maybe the system would actually be enjoyable AND playable? (i know those two things from the magic system mix about as well as oil and water but i'm hoping.)

Could we please get the magic defense of npc lowered? it is incredible high. even samantha gets every third spell backfired from an ogre or troll, and she cant beat alone an ogre shaman. he is much stronger than her ...
their resistance is too high

And I had no problems with it either.

maybe because that are summoned monsters. maybe those are stronger than the spwning ones
but this monsters backfired alot of spells, and even the ogres needed 3-5 to get killed. dont ask me howmany the lichs and beholders needed

Possibly, there are about 4 levels of each type of monster.

I got an idea... Why dont you all go to the mummies go to mage sskeleton area and take all the spells? Would that not increase magic resistance?

Umm swish.....

What are you talking about? No-one said anything about magic resistance. And the skilled mages would not gain much anyway from there.

Lichs , spiders and trolls are not very strong... with the right spells you get it down in 1or
2 minutes... and you´re stronger than me... so i´m a little bit confused why
you´re post something like that... You can heal yourself, think about good
spells and then you get the monsters easy down
So i think the resistence are ok

i have teset that and agreed with sam the magic resistance of sommound mosters seems much higher as normal.....
