A map button

Post by Thalodos Artemetus »

Hey people, just a little suggestion here, to make the ilarion experience a bit more life like there should be a map option.
For example players buy a map for 10 gold at the local store, then with a simple tap of the tab button a map screen pops up (with preferably Drathe map design) with the players exact location on it.
What do you think?

Yes it is very nice, except the part where you can see where you are. It should just be a plain map. That would be more realistic. But thank you for bringing this up. This could be very helpful

sounds good
you would need to eliminate eh mini map though

and perhaps different types of maps? ones with mosnter tocation or jsut a basic geographical map of the island
a map maker skill would be good too

good idea exept make it a larg X like thing, this would be you general location, but not very exact. Being able to give a rough estimate of your position by landmarks isn't hard.

Yeah Grobul is right, I like the idea about different kinds, Here are some ideas for the different kinds:

-Monster Habitat
-Topograhy
-Borders (Such as Northerot, Silverbrand, so on)
-Landmarks (Shrines and Temples)

That's all I could think of so far.

Then there should also be a master map. which only very skilled mapmakers can make. It would show those all the maps on one.

yea, adn most maps should cost a lot. a basic map should be givin to new chars, but VERY BASIC
to buy a basic map with jsut teh names of teh rivers and teh shape of teh land and such should be at least 1silver ingot
a master map should be very expensive

it was very hard to get a good/accurate map untill people got a Satilite into space, adn illarion doesnt have a space program

Yes but once a map is made it can be copied so why would it be very expensive. I don't see the reason.

Even though you already have a map made and just need to copy it, copying is a lot of work, too.

The map maker should have to have traveled all around the island. Maybe there could be a way to put things on this map where you want them. for example, you go to the shop and write on your map where the shop is, kind of like how MS paint works. This way you could make fake maps as well

I like Vindigan's Idea. But then again, someone could just draw it in real life from a site and then copy it. But The part about copying, it does take a lot of time. But Drogla said it is hard to make an accurate map. Once one is made then it is done all you need to do is copy.
