Some thoughts to jumble around.
I was thinking about maybe having an inventor skill where intelligence can accually be used in a craft rather than magic. An inventor would rely on all the other skill to produce things, then he puts them together. Such as a blacksmith could make cogs, an inventor could use wood and put together a spinning wheel or something.

Well the idea of an inventor does seem like a good idea at first...it really wouldn't work.
The spinning wheel already exists, meaning you didn't invent it there for it wouldn't go under an inventor skill nor would you be an inventor. So for this skill to make sense one person could only make one item then that new item would fall under one of the previous exisitng catogories (carpentry, blacksmithing). So unless the GM's are up to introducing several new items every day, it wouldn't work!
