Tournament: One Above All II

Post by S'rrt »

Rejoice, for the most exciting and enticing tournament of all time is making a return!

Forget magical gems, legendary armor and weapons, potions and glyphs. It's when we are stripped of all of our fancy gadgets and trinkets and left with nothing but a broken sword in our hand and rusted steel on our back that we can answer the burning question: who is truly the strongest in battle? Find out at…

Image
As its predecessor, this tournament is carefully designed to allow warriors to face each other on equal terms in various challenging situations. This means:
  • Standardized equipment: All armors, weapons and shields are freshly bought and unused from town vendors
  • Several events: Each with their own rules, Champions and prizes, culminating in the final battle for the ultimate title
  • Strictly no contraband (gems, potions, hidden gear): Any and all cheating will be noticed, and violators will be shamed and forever branded as "Dastard" (a.k.a. a coward)
There were 12 combatants during the Mirror Championship:
  1. Caswir Drakull
  2. Húr`Wugrú
  3. Orion Lysander
  4. Fergro
  5. Aleytys Lamar
  6. Drathe Blue
  7. Trowin
  8. Drugar Stonesmasher
  9. Guir Rabenflügel
  10. Azure Lynch
  11. Zelphyra
  12. Ka'Shas
Below are current confirmed combatants for the upcoming events:

Swashbuckler Championship
  • Aleytys Lamar
  • Leon Demelii
Mage Championship
  • Celdea
Archer Championship
  • (None yet)
If there aren't enough combatants present for an event, that event will be held at a later date.

The details:
One Above All is a one-on-one tournament consisting of three main events named Mirror Championship, Swashbuckler Championship and Malachin's Championship. In these events, knockout means instant elimination unless a rematch is called due to a tie. One Champion (i.e. winner of that event) cannot compete in other main championships except for the final championship. At the end all three Champions of these events will face each other in the final battles for the ultimate title of One Above All.

There are also two extra events: Mage Championship, in which mages use all they've got and learned to defeat the other mage, and Archer Championship, in which archers try destroy a target faster than their opponent.

Mirror Championship has combatants face each other in identical gear. The gear is either agreed upon by the combatants or decided by a coin toss. This Champion will receive:
  • A sum of gold coins
  • A specially crafted golden diamond ring as proof of their superior use of weapons and armor

Swashbuckler Championship is similar to Mirror Champion but the combatants will be wearing minimal armor and have only a predetermined weapon to rely on. This Champion will receive:
  • A sum of gold coins
  • A specially crafted golden emerald ring as proof of their toughness and finesse

Malachin's Championship occasionally gives the combatants useful and not so useful items to use against one another. This Champion will receive:
  • A sum of gold coins
  • A specially crafted golden topaz ring as proof of their ability to react and adapt quickly on the battlefield

Mage Championship is a perfect opportunity for mages to use all their skills and items in order to prove superior to other mages. This Champion will receive:
  • A sum of gold coins
  • A specially crafted wand as proof of their superior manipulation of offensive magic

Archer Championship places the contestants to destroy targets of their own. The person who destroys their target faster is the winner.
  • A sum of gold coins
  • A specially crafted bow as proof of their deadly aim and agile fingers

The final championship has the Champions of the three main events face each other with gear of their choice.
The one who becomes One Above All, on top of receiving the title, shall receive:
  • A sum of gold coins
  • A special ring of an archmage as proof of their unparalleled might
  • A specially designed masterwork chest armor of chosen type

Details shown in any posts related to the tournament may be subject to change.

Re: Mirror Championship Schedule

Post by S'rrt »

Ladies and gentlemen, the date for the first championship of the tournament, the Mirror Championship, now has a confirmed date!

The date of the Mirror Championship is the noon of 12. Naras in this year of 63! ((Saturday the 29th May, 8 PM server time [time converter link] ))

Place: Training area above the Cadomyr smithy via stairs, northeast of the marketplace.

According to the information gathered from the registered combatants, we may expect 8 of them to attend. That means a total of 7 match-ups so be aware that the event may take up the entire rest of the day!

Below is a reminder of the rules and prizes, taken from the main post:
Mirror Championship has combatants face each other in identical gear. The gear is either agreed upon by the combatants or decided by a coin toss.
  • Standardised equipment: All armors, weapons and shields are freshly bought and unused from town vendors
  • Strictly no contraband (gems, potions, hidden gear): Any and all cheating will be noticed, and violators will be shamed and forever branded as "Dastard" (a.k.a. a coward)
The Champion of this event will receive:
  • A sum of gold coins
  • a special golden diamond ring as proof of their superior use of weapons and armor
Three runner-ups also receive a small sum of gold coins.

Combatants; you have over two dwarven weeks to hone your armor and weapon skills for the event. Make sure you know as much of each as you can, because there is no telling what kind of a weapon or armor you will use!

One final thing to note before the anticipation begins: eating a meal before the fighting begins is allowed but not required, as meals will be offered to combatants at the start of the event!

See you at the event, and good luck!

Mirror Championship

Post by S'rrt »

((sorry that it took me a while to make this post. Let's please pretend that this was posted on Chos and not Mas))

The Mirror Championship has concluded!

What incredible fighters and what incredible fights! Sweat, blood and tears were shed as combatants faced each other, some even multiple times due to uneven numbers, to seek the glory and prizes of the top positions of this championship!

Below you'll find the final rundown, with Drugar Stonesmasher claiming the Mirror Champion title along with a custom made ring, Drathe Blue becoming second and Orion Lysander coming up third.
All the rest of the names listed in the bottom tier lost the fight against the top three.

Drugar's victory means that he cannot take part in any upcoming championships apart from the very final championship where all previous champions fight for the ultimate title: One Above All.

There is no denying that any of the top three are some of the best fighters we could hope to have against he horrors of Mas.

The tournament returns next year with another championship, with at least two more championships planned. Congratulations to the winners and may gods provide strength and safety to us all in the coming days!

Update on food policy

Post by S'rrt »

There has been an update to the food policy for all of the events in the tournament!

It has been decided that instead of I, your host, providing the food for the contestants of all events, the contestants will have to make or buy their own food before the tournament. So for those of you who wish to prove themselves to be the best fighters, archers or wand magic masters, make sure that you get in touch with a good cook for that extra bit of assurance in your victory!

The details of the events have been altered to reflect this change.

Your humble tournament host,
~~ Sir S'rrt K'shire
Elderknight of Cadomyr

((OOC explanation: There is no way to see what food characters are eating or have eaten, which means it's impossible to make sure that the contestants have equal food bonuses.))
