In the room at the second floor in the Inn, for the first time in her life Marla slept inside a bed. She did not pay attention to the soft bed and the fluffy blanket covering her, for she was burnt badly and weeping in pain.

Scenes of the day flashed in front of her eyes. A man being beaten up by Val, his strange undead friend, an orc, and a misfigured humanoid earth figure, that smelled of clay. They did not attack him all together, but one by one. The man tied by a rope to a column, had struggled and cried in pain. Blood had been dripping for his face that had been badly/horribly/...?? beat up/disformed from the beating. The young woman had smelled his fear and the blood that dripped to the floor. She had watched feeling more and more confused. Why did they do this? At first she had assumed that Val and his group were just bad at killing the man. It would have taken a bite in the throat, sharp teeth, tearing flesh and he would have died almost immediately. He seemed to have given up though, so that he'd run away if he could, so she saw need to kill him. Maybe the men were unaware of this? Puzzling was as well that Val and his companion had dragged the man along to their place with huge white walls and floors, full of monsters below. They had captured this man, captured him at the Inn where he and Marla had played. At the cave-like gathering place under the roof, with stony ground where a few ferns and bushes grew, Val, his undead companion and the orc had beaten up the prisoner. As they continued to torture him, Marla had concluded that they might try to teach him something, just like Yasmin had beaten up her with a spoon when she misbehaved. The pain of being beaten with a spoon felt insignificant compared to be burnt by flames. Again she made a weeping sound, to show she was in pain. It would not help, though. She was all alone in the room.

Marla's mind wandered futher back to the events this day, meeting Val at in the sands following him throug a shiny thing glowing in dim blue light, and finding herself at the Inn. A place better known to her than the warm, sandy area she had explored with Friend. Would she find Friend again? He had told her to gather sand. She hadn't done so. Would he be angry at her? As angry as Yasmin? Val had not told her to gather anything, but showed her a room on the second floor. Like Friend Val did not like to see her sneezing anf coughing, although by than Marla's cold had been getting better slowly.

She had been angry this day, too. Angry at Val, who had locked her up in the room at the Inn! He had closed the door, locking Marla inside. Unable to open it, Marla retreated to weeping and scratching at the door until someone else, a man, opened it for her. He had held out his hands, probably not wanting her near. Maybe he was scared, maybe not. His gestures and the tone in his voice did not match. In the large room at the ground floor, he had sat on the floor, touching his chin with one hand, his arm resting on his knee observing Marla. Soon he came to realize that Marla didn't want to hunt him and was just being sick and curious, so he and Marla had played a game of pulling at a bottle. She using her teeth, he using his hand. To soon, the game had stopped. But the man had allowed Marla to drink the juice that was inside the bottle. It had tastet strange, fruity, something she had never drunken before. It did not taste bad, still/but water and milk tasted better.

Her thoughts shifted back to the memory of the room inside the giant white stone building. The man, who had opened the door for her and who had given juice to her had been lying on the floor. His face and body had been beat up so much that he could barely speak let along stand or walk on his own. Yet he was whispering words at her. She could not understand what he said, but the meaning was no doubt/very/.../?? clear to her. The desperate creature was begging at her, begging her for help, afraid for his life. Suddenly the memory of the bottle filled with violet water had flashed before her eyes. Friend had wanted her to drink it, a violet, sweet smelling liquid, stored in a small bottle. He had disapproved of her refusing to drink it. She could tell at his voice and his eyes. Marla remembered that there had been bottles of these kind in the bag of the man, too. She had seen them when taking his coins for Friend. The coins were lost somewhere on the floor though. When no one was looking she took the bottle, trying to pour the liquid into the man's mouth. She remembered the feeling of horror creeping up when just nothing would flow out of the corked bottle. Horror? Yes, Marla was quite aware that Val would not approve of this. Desperately she had shook it/the bottle/... to no avail. So, she threw the bottle to ground, and licked up the liquid without licking at glass shards. Meanwhile the steps of Val and his Orc and Companion were getting closer. Due to her small size she stand up to bring her face closer to the man and just at the orc was about to pull the him away she had pressed her lips against his trying to feed him the sweet, violet liquid.

The only other happy memory, if one could say so and if meeting the man was not considered - was when she went through another shiny blue portal and found herself in a forest. She had gone after Val. His undead companion talking to a lizzard-man while the Val's Orc and the beat up man were on top of a tower. Sniffing at the ground, she tried to find a trail of Val, searching, she crawled over a bridge, where she met some women she knew and a man. They were gathered around a small table with a chest on top of it and they all were talking. The pale woman in a dark dress was nice, she gave Marla fish to eat. The young woman was hungry, and when hungry Marla never wasted food, even though it meant to delay her search for Val.

Than she had heard a shout and she saw the beat-up man carried by the lizzard over the bridge. Suddenly there had been nothing but pain. Horrible pain as orange flames had enwrapped her! Screaming, panicking and burning, she had instinctively tried to crawl somewhere away from the pain, but than everything went black. Val had carried her upstairs and placed on a bed. She was back in the room at the Inn. The man had covered her with a blanket.

Marla felt tears running down her face, playing the memory of the blazing flames in her head. She wanted to be back in the forest. She wished to be together with her family, far away from the humans, the pain and the fear. She wished nothing more than to feel save. But she smelled of human and burnt flesh, her family would shun her. If she was very unlucky, the wolves would even attack or kill her.

Thinking such thoughts Marla lay in the bed and cried. Her sobs and whimpered could be heard though the open door of the room at the second floor in the Inn.

Marla had dragged herself back through the forest to the robber's hut, after unsuccessfully begging for help at the nearest town, a town in mountains with snow patches on the ground.
Back in her home area, she had found Johnny.
The man had seen to that her wounds were treated in another town, one with forests around and many bridges and tall buildings made from stone bricks. A woman had helped Johnny, and given food to Marla. She had offered food to Marla before. Marla hat also seen the beat up man, lying in a bed, sleeping. He was alive!
Marla was happy to see this, but also worried. He was being so close to her home territory, she didn't like this. Would she have to fight him at their next meeting?

Marla spend the next days being wrapped up like a mummy, sleeping and recovering. From time to time, the robbers tried to change the bandages, feeding her beer and medicine before doing so to lessen the pain.
The dreams Marla dreamt were wired mixtures of the past events, or downright nightmares of being chased by flame-casting furious lizzards and Yasmin-doppengangers waving cooking spoons angrily at Marla.

In course over the next week several complains were raised at Fooser.

Notably was a complaint by the local Innkeeper. He spoke about a noble woman from Albar. She was described as a tall androgyne figure, with haze-brown eyes and greyish-curly hair, wearing a simple, grey cape and a white dress decorated with real firnis flowers and donf leaves. It seemed that she made quite a fuss about renting a room at the local Inn, and than disappeared in a hurry when the Inn keeper were checking, if the room she wanted to rent was neatly cleaned. Also, soon the Inn keeper realized that besides his potential costumer, also four of his very potent brewage in beer bottles were missing.

The trader who sells herbs at the marketplace also had things stolen from him. He said, that while he was talking to a very curious and very smelly, dirty beggar in ragged clothes, he must have been so distracted that he didn't notice said cream and a bundle of sibanac leaves were stolen from him. The herbalist trader mentioned that he might recognise the beggar at his strong smell and that he'd loved to have sold some soap to him. Unfortunately the beggar had only asked about how to use a cream to lessen burn wounds.

Also from the hospital items went missing, a mortar for example, as well as healing potions and and a set of extra bandages kept a emergency supplies. The thief must have broken in the night, unlocking the hospital door and the storage box with skilled hands and a pick lock, for there were no traces of violence used. At all, traces were few to be found, just a food print of a heavy boot on the floor. Asking around if someone saw anything at night, citizen might remember a hooded figure, presumably a man, carrying a light lamp and walking through the streets a fast pace towards the gates.

"Thank you for your dress", said Norayil and removed the curly hair wig from his head. Yasmin nodded at him, worry and slight disapproval mixing in her face. The elf's face was covered under a layer of white make-up, he even had used some coal as eyeliner. Worst of all, he was wearing Yasmin's favourite and best dress, the one she had worn when going to the dance in spring with Johnny. The had danced, laughed and got drunk and on the way back to the robbers cave they had kissed. That's at least what they had told the other robbers.
Yasmin just nodded. 'You got what you were looking for?' the woman asked, trying to sound cool, and not worried.
'Yes, best and finest beer!' said the elf, with a grin. 'It should keep the wolf girl silent for a while, so we can change her bandages.'
'Will she make it, Norayil?' asked Yasmin. 'We're not doing all this in vain, are we?' The elf did not answer.
----
Later the Yasmin, Johnny and Norayil were sitting at the table and eating dinner. Their meal was a simple, and thin carrot soup. Marla was sleeping and snoring at her sleeping place on top of an old blanket.
Foot steps were heard and soon after Paul in a ragged beggars costume and Francis wearing his best clothes, he only wore when going to a temple, stepped inside the hut. 'Greetings, gals!' shouted Paul. Johnny retuned a glare at him as usual. The newcomers sat down at the table, too and joined the meal.
'Look what we got from the herbalist in town!' Paul bragged and Francis held up some dark green leaves and a wooden cup with cream. 'It's the best cream to heal burns in whole Illarion! Better than any healing potion! And healing potions are made of pure manna, I tell you, gals!' Again Paul would receive a disapproving look, this time from every men at the table. 'You could have made a job as market crier!' remarked Francis. Norayil's lips curled up in a thin smile, for he know better about healing potions than his uneducated friend, but the elf kept that knowledge to himself.

When the two moons were up, shining down at the sunflowers, that let their heads hang low, as if they, too had gone to sleep. Francis was sitting outside of their hut, talking to Johnny.
"Ronagan! That was quite a successful week!"Jonny said, looking up at one of the moon.
"You know, that this is exactly what worries me?" said Francis calmly, chewing on his pipe, before bowing a ring of smoke into the cold night.
"Usually we always take our time, before a coup. We're careful and pry on the victims, consider potential risks and we make a proper plan." Francis' face darkened as he spoke. 'But this time we had to act fast.'
'Sure.', said Jonny, his youthful enthusiasm keeping him for seeing the danger. 'But everything went well, right?'
'Well...' Francis took a deep breath. '... it seems so. Though weren't you the one who said that Marla was said to have been involved with Gray and his footmen?'
'So, what? She's back with us now.' said Johnny. 'She's save.'
'Yes, but you saw that state she's in, didn't you? More dead than alive, our wolf girl. On top that the town is quite buzzing like a angry beehive, about what happened to this fellow who got himself beat up by Gray. Plus, we also stole quite a bit during this week... They might count one and one together...'
'What do you mean?' Jonny asked.
'We might have gotten us into some trouble.' said Francis, sending another smoke ring in the air.
