History

Post by Konstantin K »

History. An important aspect for any RPG.
In order for the game's story to grow and improve process of RPing, a history should be recorded. Not made up legends, but true facts. Players should be able to chronologically report events of their lives, personal diaries, public trials, cities' history, towns' development, ancient wars. Names of heroes who showed themselves in battles against common enemies should be recorded, politicians, when they take their places, should be named, and reforms they make... - all this information should be briefly summarized and put chronologically in one big book, which would be useful to everyone who wants to learn the true story of Illarion. It should not contain any stories that characters and their players make up themselves. It should only have what really happened online: things said, deeds done.
Is there a person leading such writing? I mean, that could be an occupation. One can devote the whole life to this. This person should be dedicated and willing to talk to people, do serveys, and should love to write and sort through facts.
Is there something like this?
I know there is a library in the game. Are there any scrolls or books or other writings that record the glorious history of the Island and its people?
Is there a librarian who manages such writings? In other words, is there a place to go in the game and read the stories of old?

Another question I had is this:
Is it possible to write in the game? Send letter, create writings, store them somewhere. Make maps, transfer them, read them, write books.
Is there a way to make a book you wrote a real physical object?

Thank you.
With respect,
Konstantin

No again, use the PM function.

No, except you please a programmer to implement it. But that is nonsense, this would require always a change in the source.

Such a chronicle is currently written. A number of players has recorded information from different forums and put it into a summarized form. It is not available yet, and there is only a German version right now. We still need people who can translate it into good English.

I honestly dont want to be mean here, but if you had used the search option you would have found maybe a couple topics regarding the writing of a history book of the sort.

I tend to believe that Aragons most used bookmark is the search-function of this board. (I am almost sure that he has it as start page!)

Maybe you try to give him some more free time by trying out this nice little feature yourself...
