The Meaning of Roleplay...

Post by Bloodhearte »

I was wondering if some of you can write about what roleplaying actually is, to you. Sort of like that inquiry on the e-mail applications, but more public for some people to think about. :)

Personally, I think roleplaying simply means putting yourself in the shoes of somebody that is completely different from yourself, sort of like acting. For some reason lately, Illarion has reminded me of the movie business, with Darlok as a modern day Al Capone, or Muten as the eccentric strong one, Arkadia as the elven bartender...ess...lady ::coughs::. I would like to hear opinions about the roleplay of other people as well, like revivews. (I was accused of bad roleplay just because I suggested a graphic  but oh well.)

grrrrrrr......here is Arkadia
Definition of Arkadia Misella--
(in a nutshell that is)
An elven girl who fought a long war against the drows in her native land and when sensing defeat was enivitable she abandoned them to come to trollsbane, trying to forget her past and her desertion of her people. For some odd reason she bgan to slowly change, in appearance and emotional status, becoming unstable and unpredictatble...until one day she looked in the reflection of the water and say she had become what she had fought and run away from. She snapped, lost all emotions and feelings and exiled herself away from other hiding in the shadows....wishing only pain and destruction to any who come near her.
Now then...I dont see a bartender in there anywhere....I only did that because I had a ton of ale and needed to sell it...and I still have like 75 or somethinglike that....now in a bit Tal shall have my complete and nicely written story on his web page...but until then you have to deal with that...oh, and roleplay to me means
((Placing yourself in another time, as another person....and acting as though you were truly there. Reacting as though your character would...letting the character tell the story and you are there for the ride. Forgetting that you are sitting behind a computer moniter is a big plus....you must emerse yourself in the world and therefor are more likely to react correctly.))

Ah, damn, sorry about that Arkadia! I give you permission to call me a...::shudders:: hobbit...

As you can see, I made a prompt edit. I was thinking of examples, and thought of Tialdin. But then I thought of you, because you were serving drinks in Tialdin's tavern, and I guess two thoughts crossed at once. I have the writing skill of a madman I tell ya.

In any case, good summary for her.

Oh, Paul probably boasts about his good ol' high post number...when I notice the average posts by him are about a sentence or two long.

Ah, and here's my summary...

Bloodhearte was basically the son of a demon named Hosphus, and a human mother. At early age, his mother died of a disease that involves the coughing of blood. Hosphus left him with a small dagger and cloak, and sent him off to the library of Trollsbane. Hosphus left to find a way to resurrect his wife from the dead, and eventually cure the disease.

He grew up in the library, devoid of the preferred religion by the masses. He became very intrigued by the books involving dark doorways, and the history of Moshran. With a food summoning spell, he kept alive in there, rarely leaving...

Then as he grew to the age of 22, he wandered off into the forest, and disappeared for 100 years.

Him being a human, you would've expected him to be dead, but he returned seemingly unaged, and started the Blackstone group.

I'm still trying to make up a chronicle, story series thing about what happened to him for those shady 100 years.

Ciao! 8)

seriously saying, it wouldn't be wise to post in here, what roleplaying really
is, since everyone who wants an account just copies this slightly different
down in his mail. That way he'll maybe gat in anyway, even if he doesn't
even know a thing about it...
Herefor, I won't post it here...

No. I think that if someone who were getting an account looked at this, they would still have to make up thier own story. I don't think that the stories that you have to finish talk about a person named Bloodhearte who is the son of a demon. :)

I do agree that people should not post a lot of stories here. Then the people who want an account could get a bunch of ideas. I really don't think it is a problem, unless you tell about one of the stories that is used for the accounts though.

Here is the story of ..........'s life:

I was born to a demon and a cow, but my father, the demon, sacrificed my mother, the cow. He sent him off with a ladle full of apple seeds to Illarion, where I lived among the goats. At age 22 and 3 quarters, I dived into the river and drowned. 100 years later, they found my bloated body and put life into it, restoring my ugly looks. :P

Paul it is very insulting if you made fun of the Character Background in that way.
Do this on the RPG-Board, but not here.

You should edit/delet your Post.
