Post by Thargon »

So I fell asleep in the woods (logged off) and when I awoke I was a ghost
any ideas on how this could happen?

I am moving this to Newbie section because it may help other new players. There is a small space/time that you may log and your character is still in game. Usually this makes no difference these few seconds. If the same time as a monster spawn though.. it could make a BIG difference.

Well I was in an area where it would take atleast an hour for me to die if i was getting attacked ((from getting too hungry)). I did lose some very valuable gear but I'm not too fussed with it i was just wondering how it could happen and If I should just leave my character indoors in a safe place from now on.

Does your log give you any indication what happened?

Open your illarion folder, then the folder with that characters name, then the text file, probably labeled Illarion. This is your log file. It records all you say and do.

In the folder where the files of Illarion are stored at your PC, there has to be a folder for each of your characters. There you should find the file normally.

Unless you changed it at the start, your illarion file is located inside your documents folder if you have windows ( i.e. start/my documents/illarion). The file will say "illarion" and have your characters. Each character has a folder with it's names, maps etc. but the one that shows all that happens in game just says says "illarion" inside the character folder and is usually kept by notebook i.e. txt file so can be opened then closed again. Sometimes if attacked, the attack will be in that "illarion" file.

No.. your log "illarion" file is not the cfg file.. it is a text time ONLY. The other file can be opened by notebook also but can't be closed as a text file or will mess up the game.

The file when opened looks something like this:
Someone (XXXX90104) lässt ihren Schwanz hin und her schnalzen
Someone (XXXX190104) flicks her tail
Squire Dantagon Marescot tosses a bunch of sawed boards in his depot before looking up. "Oh... Uh... Greetings Achae."
Achae Eanstray grabs her armor bag ot use and dumps her armor in the storage then looks up confused

It should show up to what has happened this morning including anyone that roleplayed with you so may be hard to find at the time you were ghosted.

Further suggestion.. get on irc and ask a GM to help. It may be nice to know why your char was ghosted. :D

The file is called Illarion.log and can be opened with Notepad (Editor in the German versions of Windows). The newest entries are at the bottom.

The .cfg file can be opened the same way and contains your client settings.
