The final straw ((Open RP))

Post by Juniper Onyx »

The pain....As his vision cleared, the halfling known as Bernie was running, tears dripping from his eyes.

Run! He cried to himself, and he ran from "Ace" as fast as he could.

What had happened? A flash of light and it was over. Tak ws down and the governor injured. Had he survived?

Ace and Bindus....the halfers Tak had warned him of had finally shown their true colors. They were assassins. Woe to Trollsbane.....Woe to good citizens everywhere.

Juliana quickly hides the shock felt on seeing the damage to the lizard as she abruptly runs after the halfling some called Ace making an attempt to grab him, finally catching him as she hurriedly whispers to him, her anger apparent in every gesture and word, yet also debating exactly what to do with him more then tempted to pull the dagger from her boot and use it across his throat. Anyone watching would see her expression go from anger to puzzlement the longer they whisper as once clear green eyes now turn dazed, more red rimmed as if her thoughts were miles away while the grip on the halfling loosens unnoticed. Suddenly she turns and begins to walk south all the time the halfling following and whispering.

After mending his wounds at the Grey Rose, Bernie furrowed his brows and decided to look for his comrades.

Putting on some armor and some daggers, he set off again for trollsbane. Surely they would go there.

He ran into some friends, Balessar, Sirith, Gabriel, Jonathan and Lucy who all expressed concern and offered to help look for Tak and the Governor.

After intense searching, they found Tak by Eliza's, hurt and burned really badly. Bernie tried to help his friend, but was refused. "I've had worse than this" Tak said. With a smile, Bernie nodded and helped his friend to his feet.

"I am going Home...we must go to the Union" he said. Bernie nodded in agreement saying "anything I can do for you Tak?"

"Yes" he replied. "Take over for me while I recover", "I shall return"

And with those words, Tak and Bernie made their way to the Union, where keys were handed over as well as some meager supplies. With a wave farewell, Tak was gone, walking south into the Ocean he loved. As his head disappeared beneath the sea, Bernie thought "I won't let you down Tak"

A mixture of sweat and blood dripped from Sirith's body as he blocked blow after blow from his oldest training partner, Vungar. It had been a few dwarven weeks since Sirith had last seen him and Sirith had been training like a mad man. Finally, Sirith felt himself overcoming his old friend.

The orc grunted as he blocked many of Sirith's attacks. Sirith was in total concentration of the fight... Block, Ssstrike!, Ssstrike!, Parry, Dodge, Swing at head, Swing at knees, Block, Dodge!

The spar commenced for nearly an hour. It seemed that the two warriors had come to a stalemate, but Sirith was not convinced. As they neared the end of the spar, both of the warriors were heavily wounded and breathing very heavily. Out of nowhere, Sirith felt strength come back to him. He took this to his advantage.

He spotted and opening in Vungar's defenses and stepped in quickly, bashing his shield against the orc's chest. The orc stumbled back a bit and Sirith dealt a huge blow against Vungar's side. Vungar grunted, cringing from the blow. Finally, Sirith dropped his shield, ran up to Vungar, and kicked him hard in the gut. With that, Vungar fell backwards onto the ground. Sirith stood panting for a while. A small smile crept over his face, then he too fell to the ground from exhaustion.

After the two regained their strength and bid their farewells, Sirith noticed something going on at the cross. Apparently Bindus and Ace had attacked Bernie, Tak, and the Governor. Sirith was not pleased at all and quickly went to search for the Governor. He came back without any luck and spent a few hours sparring more friends...

...

Block... Block... BLOCK! Sirith stumbled backwards when Jonathan Cain sent him a heavy blow to the chest. The man grinning all the while.

"You know, Elijah is okay now Sirith." Jonathan said as he smiled. Sirith took in huge gulps of breath and nodded slowly, feeling relieved...

...

"Governor, what are we going to do about Bindus and Ace?" Sirith asks quietly as he searches through his depot. Elijah answers quietly, Sirith nods to his answer. It had been a long day, all Sirith wanted to do was sleep. He turned towards the door and he was about to leave, the Governor spoke.

"Wait... Sirith... I want you to watch over Bernie." The Governor smiles a bit. Sirith turns and nods. "I will send him a dove before I sleep."

"Thank you, Sirith."

Sirith leaves the building and heads towards the swamps...

Jonathan looks up as the small elf apears, seemingly very glad to see him.

The two of them go into the workshop with the mage blocking off the door to keep prying ears out as Jon starts whispering to Whisper about a plan to infiltrate Bindus's and Ace's organization.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Suddenly from outside a voice recognized as one of the old inquisitor's can be heard "There's one of the Thieves! Stop!"
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Its in front of the Library now. Ace and the Inquisitor facing off. Suddenly Ace chages. The inquisitor knocks him out with a blow to the back of his head.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Repent!"
It is now just south of the Netherian Altar, Ace on the execution stand, the Inquisitor behind him. A sword ready to deliver a fatal beheading.
With another insult the halfling goes to far.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

The beheading/lynching of the Halfling known as Ace, a known robber and treasonist, came to pass upon the fourth of Ushos, year 31.

Holy Bràgon, let your fire purge this wickedness that covers this land.. Let the heretics repent for their sins, or burn for them! he says, standing on one knee in front of the altar. He holds a large sword with one hand, leaning his armored arm heavily upon it, his bright red helm under his shoulder, his large cape beating restlessly into the wind.
He seems to be a middle aged man, around 40 years old, short, military cut black hair, and a mustache ending all the way to his chin. His eyes are frowned, serious expression upon his visage, his voice tone harsh and aggressive at best.

No one really knows where this man came from and why is he on Gobaith, and the ones that do, are either long gone or tell it to none. In the few times he has decided to intervene in the day to day life of the "normal" people, he has only proven to be harsh and unmerciful, making him look as a fanatic into the eyes of the people.

------------------------------------

The halfling charges, probably desperate seeing himself trapped like that, underestimating the Inquisitor. He steps aside, turns, and delivers a quick blow with the hilt of his blade to the halfling's head, knocking him unconscious.

Repent! he says, pressing his armored foot upon the halfling's frail body. He knew that he wouldn't, none with so much pride would. Pride is a sin, he thinks to himself.

Even the cattle are tainted by the seed of the wicked, he always says. Evil can only be purged with fire and fire must be ruthless, else even the slightest seed can become a forest.

--------------------------------------

The blade fell, so quick that most didn't even see it. The halfling's head rolls onto the street in front of all the people that watched, his blood forming a small pool in front of the now, headless body.

He picks up the head by the hair showing it to the people as a gruesome evidence for the halfling's deeds. Let this be a lesson to all that dare challenge the gods, he says, walking to the wall and sticking the head into the nearest torch holder, as if a pike.

No one dare to remove it. Let it be a reminder for all that trespass against the gods!

As the night hours set in over Gobaith an extravagantly dressed Halfling sits by fire light in the isolation of his office. With a distraught and contemplative gaze his eyes linger on the flames before him while an idle hand rolls a gold coin back and forth over his fingers.

It had become a dangerous game and he was lucky to still have his head.

Ace was dead and the under workings of his lair was exposed. He may not have survived the raid should he not have heard her screams: "Bindus Run!!" still echoed in his ears as he pictured himself running through the dark tunnel towards the secret exit.

He knew she was right... he should turn back while he still had the chance but now his pride would never allow it. With each new gold coin that lined his pocket and with the a growing vendetta building inside of him, it was time for him to make the decision.

He offered to give it all away for her... to make amends for his actions and settle down, to give away his earnings, his pride, and his life style. He was willing to risk execution or jail, precious years of his life with hopes that the day may come that he may finally be with her. She shakes her head slowly, pain evident as tears gather in her eyes "Bindus ...I'm sorry....... I do love you...but .....I can't leave him..I just can't". He continues to gaze ahead quietly as the coin falls from his fingers and rolls across the blood stained wooden floor. His fist begins to clench and his brow begins to furrow as his mind drifts over the thought of her being with him.

"She has made her decision an' now I have made mine......."

Ace had grown sloppy, they had both acted foolish.. the way they had risked there lives acting so openly. While Ace was a genuine friend and a valuable associate, Bindus would learn from his death. It was time to start working behind the scenes, to stay out of view as a shadow pulling the strings as the association ravaged the lands of Gobaith. Nearly a dozen members and almost 10 gold gained through protection money and robbery. Entire towns and guilds where beginning to fear the association as they payed to keep his hounds from their land, though never would they admit such dealings publicly..

He gives a slow nod before standing from the chair.

He would not turn back.
He would get his revenge.
He would build upon his fortune, his infamy and his legacy.

A new day has dawned and he sits at the head of a table, roughly eight faces look to him, new and old as they await his first words.

You have all come ta' this association looking for work....

I am Bin Sparacello, I am your boss.

Having left Caiah and Anon alone in the house. waiting until she knew they were finally asleep, Taiah moves through the walls like the ghost she is and settles into her body opening silver eyes toward Anon as she gently extricates herself from his arms before throwing on a robe and walking toward the table and chairs. Sitting in the dark, she stares out the window her thoughts swirling with confusion and only her emotions were clear. She loved them both.

Leaning her elbows on the table, listening to the night sounds around their home, Taiah closes her tear stained eyes as moonbeams glisten down the drops on her cheek. How can she protect them both...what can she do that she hasn't tried? She promised Anon she wouldn't leave him.. she couldn't, yet she was torn trying to protect Bindus also. The best she could do was refuse to say anything about Bindus' confessions. Shivering remembering the harsh deeds repeated to her as shock reverberated through her body while they sat in front of the fireplace at Kallahorn, Taiah finally turned and looked into his eyes to see genuine remorse. His promise to stop if she would come live with him cemented her love all the more yet she knew she couldn't. She loved Anon too much to leave him. Finally sympathizing with Anon, understanding his love of both her and Caiah, she whispers "I love you Bindus, I can't leave Anon....I love him also"

Thankfully Caiah wasn't there to listen to the confessions of Bindus and will never know what he said, yet, how can she stop this alone...not even a fighter, just a dancer! The only way she knew how was to do the same she did tonight by forcing Caiah out of their body as she tried to attack Bindus. yet could she ever do it again? Caiah has always been the strongest even though the body was originally Taiah's. Only knowing she had to talk to Bindus again, maybe her words would sway him? Turning toward Anon a smile crosses her face at his sleeping visage and not wanting to chance wakeing him, Taiah lays her head down on the table as eyes close in restless sleep at last.
