New Guard NPCs
We have some new Guard NPCs, mainly the ones we lacked in the past few weeks considering our Salkamaerian invasion. They are littered around Troll's Bane.
Please consider how you roleplay around town with the new guards. Keep these NPCs in mind in your roleplay, as do the new rules suggest. To those who are banned, if you do want an incursion in town, try to arrange it with me or another GM, so we can play out the guards, maybe make them patrol so you could sneak in. Do have a game plan ready in that case, define a target.

Yep. Just simple NPCs who stand around and talk a little.
More was in short term not possible. But something seemed to be needed since the most players seemed to assume that there are plainly no guards at all in the town even while the town was taken by many many soldiers who did not left out of all sudden.

Erm...so we are supposed to wait however long for a GM to respond before we can do anything?Mesha wrote:We have some new Guard NPCs, mainly the ones we lacked in the past few weeks considering our Salkamaerian invasion. They are littered around Troll's Bane.

Such as now ...when I log in, Jox will be inside the town. Was planning to log in and leave the town...but still.
Re: New Guard NPCs
Feel free to leave now. But don't you find it silly that every single Temple member could just walk into town, every single day, every single Temple Member, and stir up it's contents without alerting a soldier?Joxia Doral wrote:Erm...so we are supposed to wait however long for a GM to respond before we can do anything?Mesha wrote:We have some new Guard NPCs, mainly the ones we lacked in the past few weeks considering our Salkamaerian invasion. That does not sound like something a sensible Temple Member would do.

EDIT and of course you are free to arrange such an incursion with your intended target. But at least try and involve your targets in the roleplay, instead of just barging in on a silent day, doing whatever the hell you want in town just because it suits you. That is not cooperative roleplay, that's ego-stroking

The temple IMO is a guild like other guilds yet is little larger then most, and I am speaking as a PO who has no "regular" chars in the temple btw, in fact have happily fought some members in the past . The Salk prince/guards/soldiers etc..as a reminder is not player driven...and RP especially US evening time has continued as in the past. If this is not desired by the gm's, possibly it would be best just to board up the town totally allowing only the "good, nice" chars to stay?
To have to make a quest request in order for someone "banned" or other usual RP done in the past seems almost too hard to fool with. Cooperative RP between players is in the game rules, if not done, it should be reported to a gm, why go through all the other steps to discourage RP of certain groups, or is the purpose for people to just move their chars to other towns if they desire to have a less "regulated" RP? A LOT of these so called "bans" are done for RP purposes only AND tongue-in-cheek fun, with the PO's having had a great time as all cooperate in the story-line. Some if not all of this RP has been on the spur of the moment also, not every player knows when they will be able to get ig to RP a little enough to join a quest either.
Just my two cents or whatever it is worth.

Personally I , and others that I have actually witnessed have been sneaking around and trying to avoid guards or any others who might confront us. And I dont think that "every single member" enters town "every single day" and usually Jox is not trying to "stir up its contents". I like the concept....Im just thinking if GMs are going to be around when no player guards are...and how long to wait on a response.
Also wondering how every guard knows what every banned person looks like.

They do not. As I said:
I have, however, seen blatant displays of Temple members walking around like they do not care. I find that Juliana is rather ignorant of this last remark of mine. You do not have to contact me! But at least make the entering of town something useful, something with deeper meaning. Instead of just a day to access your town depot and use the tools available to this town.EDIT and of course you are free to arrange such an incursion with your intended target. "doing whatever the hell you want in town just because it suits you" I am guessing you're talking about Dain to an extent since he does that and you've summoned guards on him. But he's also been banned many times. Each one of those times 90% of the guards wouldn't confront him even in groups. I think this is true for many temple members past and present.
When I have asked guards why I am banned in game they tell me to write the prince seemingly because they have no idea. Further, they are more than happy to outright kick me out of town with little RP or talking for that matter. It is also odd that the temple members are banned since, to my knowledge, have not broken any serious laws since the prince has been in power. Also, the temple hasn't done anything known to the public since the prince has been in power. If it is current characters that have no ties to the GMs (meaning not current or former) that convinced the prince to ban the temple I'd understand the ban from an OOC perspective.

It is exactly that. Also, soldiers not giving you reasons for your ban? Why would they give you reasons? The Prince commands, even though he is as benevolent as can be.If it is current characters that have no ties to the GMs (meaning not current or former) that convinced the prince to ban the temple I'd understand the ban from an OOC perspective.
The Temple has held it's grip over this island since years, and you are telling me just because since the reforms you have been laying low for a while, that the Prince would not have several different characters nagging him on the threat the Temple poses? Sounds like a silly thought to me.
Silly thoughts. That is the second smug comment you've made. Not very helpful. I guess there is no reason to argue the Temple's agenda out in the open like this, but the new guards surely won't prevent one of the strongest guilds from freely walking around as they have for years.Mesha wrote: The Temple has held it's grip over this island since years, and you are telling me just because since the reforms you have been laying low for a while, that the Prince would not have several different characters nagging him on the threat the Temple poses? Don't want to offend anyone, though, after having read this thread
I am wondering why you don't simply RP the situation... relaxed and smoothly
Why to start an ooc-discussion?
Just make a big posting on the RPG-board, put some nice banners into town
and actually kick everyone's asses who don't listen to the prince's commands - even Retlak's big bad butt
Then all those will learn that the prince actually is more powerful with all his forces.
Teach them IG-wise how the cat jumps and how the wind blows
Cheers.

Attempting to look past the "ego-stroking" "ignorant" "silly thoughts" remarks, it appears that a group can be banned from a major town in game due to rumor of past instances/on the word of others before the quest of the prince ever came to the island? It also appears that no matter how strong that group is, they are expected to RP being weak next to the guards who will eventually be programmed to be all powerful?
My remark still stands
My remark still stands
.. allowing a less regulated RP for other towns, since I would estimated roughly 50% or more of the evening/US players are actually temple members, this blocks mainly that time zone from the town.possibly it would be best just to board up the town totally allowing only the "good, nice" chars to stay?

Perhaps you, as an American player, should appeal to Naerwyn then. I. Never. Said. That. You. Need. My. Permission. If you want to sneak about, that is fine. But revealing yourself in town will get you caught by the army, yes. If you have a target inside town, than discuss that with someone. Hell, I do not even have to be online for you to attack anything. As long as I know, as long as I can provide for you.Juliana D'cheyne wrote:Attempting to look past the "ego-stroking" "ignorant" "silly thoughts" remarks, it appears that a group can be banned from a major town in game due to rumor of past instances/on the word of others before the quest of the prince ever came to the island? My beautiful remarks serve this purpose: You are not listening to me, so you spew silly remarks. I can note facts, can I not?

I would greatly appreciate refraining from personal attacks. You are not listening to me, so you spew silly remarks
So, if there is a plan to "free" a char in jail, the temple first has to notify you so the all powerful guards won't insta-kill when that happens, then wait for feed-back etc. especially if in another time-zone. Or, send a message to another char to "please step out of trolls bane so we can have a confrontation" if you aren't around?

Stop being silly Juliana, by trying to create a problem when there is none.
What everybody is asking of you, the "temple players", is that you accept that there is a place that is outright dangerous for you to hang out, no matter how yellow your skills are.
And what Mesha wants you to understand is, that if you plan to make an event based arround, or in TB, that you notify any GM before hand.
So the brain-dead-deco-guards can be removed or otherwise modified to create the propper stage for your play.
Geez ...
