Da Hunt!

Post by Karfang »

((This is open RP for anyone in Vanima))
The hunt was afoot! Krull had come to Vanima before, but always as a guest. Now he was hunting! Goblin!

The Goblin Grimgit had escaped weeks ago, and only now has been sighted in Vanima and attempted to be captured by the local soldiers. Of course, he escaped, but is rumored to be hiding on Vanima still. Maybe the Elf thieves are hiding him...no matter.

This night, Krull and Jag had come to Vanima to seek their prize, the goblin Grimgit. The only voices echoing in the City of the Elves were those of Drakon, Jack and Tak'zel, as they sparred and fought in training.

Seemingly threatened, they stopped when the Orcs showed up. Couteously, they lowered their weapons and the Orcs were civil to them as they discussed the dilemma. Krull obtained permission to hunt for the Goblin, and Drakon even agreed to help. Together they searched the area of the Mine in vain, finding only a scurry of tracks and broken branches. Eventually, they returned to the Elven City, vast in it's size and wealthy in its riches.

And now a lone Orc is encamped here, in this godforsaken land of the Elves. Krull pitches a makeshift tent and pulls out some roasted fish. The elves wouldn't like a campfire.....hmm....."so what" he thinks. He would eat warm fish tonight! Krull then started a campfire and roasted his fish over the center until toasted brown.

Eating the fish until sated, Krull then sat back and looked at the stars.

What will tomorrow's hunt bring? Where is that goblin hiding? He would find out, one way or the other.

Lesska carefully sorted through her clay tablets upon which were sketched the schematics for metalworking. find the right one, she rubbed teeth together in a clickign noise commonly referred to as a sigh amongst the mammals. Her large eyes were dialated in the dark light as she dragged out a rack of iron ingots, dragging them by the leather cords over to the furnace to be heated, nearly triping over the anvil she knew was there but was increasingly havign difficulty seeing due to the lowering light . With a half growl she goes back to her depot, strikes up a torch and tosses it near the anvil to illuminatethe open walled smithy. Soon the very familiar sound of her hammer rang throughout the northern region of vanima as she began the slow process of shaping the metal plates that would soon make up yet another failed attempt at thick iron armor.

As the thankless work dragged on, she pauses twice to grab a few fish from a water barrel that she uses for storing snacks. She tilts her head slightly as her acute hearing picks up the noise of something in the distance. vanima was a peaceful place, probably an elf out for a low tide stroll, or perhaps a human venturign to visit the mine in hopes to steal a few handfuls of the blue metal called merinium.

Puttign the noises aside for now she finishes up her work, placing the armor that looked like it had barely survived two wars already. Releasing a audible sigh she hefts her hammer again to begin destroying the iron armor so it will not clutter up the smithy.

After a long night in the smith house trying to make a special gift, Drakon finally turned and went to rest in the sleeping chamber below the main hall, He laid awake for some time hoping that all will quiet down soon for something very important to him waits ahead. He slowly drifts off to sleep letting his mind dream of better things to come.

Before the dawns early light he wakes and gets out of bed, knowing Krull would want to get an early start on the hunt. when he climbs the stairs he sees someone very important to him and goes to talk to them. the talk turned serious and sad as Krull came to main hall looking for anyone who may have seen the Goblin while he slept, all Drakon could do was turn and say " Greetings to you".

Before he returned his look to the person he talked to. He didn't hunt with Krull this day he couldn't what was being said was to important for him to just up and leave. He stayed and talked and let the Krull hunt alone knowing that Krull gave his word to him that he would obey Vanima's laws.

After the talk Drakon searches for Krull trying to find, him his mind not on the hunt but what was said to him earlier that day. He finds Krull by the mine where the Goblin was last seen he looks to Krull and asks " Do you think you can find him, he has been hiding since we lost him here last eve? " Drakon face showed little emotion as he looked to all the tracks that now show in the soft ground after the snow melted.

A young, tall elf moves silently after Drakon, staying far enough back not to attract his attention. His silvered hair flows in the early morning wind, as well as the black robe that covers him neck to feet. He wears a solemn expression, watching Drakon curiously through tired looking eyes.

The elf follows him to the mine, standing far back as he sees the orc named Krull. His demeanor becomes wary, and he silently watches the two with a guarded expression.

By Dawn's early light, Krull awoke and packed up his gear, and disassembled his tent. Putting them in the Vanima depot, he then stretched and set off to look for witnesses to the Goblin.

Finding Drakon in the elven city, he was directed to the mine, where the goblin had evaded pursurers just a few days ago. wandering through the woods, crunching upon the freshly laid snow, Krull's senses were heightened. His sense of smell, sniffing to the wind with every breeze. His eyes, searching for goblin tracks and signs of passage. His ears, deftly listing to every sound....the deer feeding upon the sparse grasses, the birds flitting from tree to tree, the cows mooing in the south.

Reaching the mine, Krull descended the ladder to examine and listen. Nothing but darkness.

Satisfied, Krull ascended the ladder in time to see Drakon approaching.

"Greebas again" he said as Drakon approached. "Do you think you can find him..." Drakon said.

Krull hesitates, then nods. "Yubba, Orcs are guud hunters. It beh nub problem."

Satisfied, Drakon again offers his help. Nodding, Krull smiles then looks at the myriad of tracks around the mine. Curiously, one set of tracks leads back to the woods to the south-east. Pointing at these, Krull shows them to Drakon and says "dis way".

Drakon nods and follows Krull as he stalks along the fresh set of small tracks.

A dark-haired elfess picks her way through the woods, pushing aside the low-hanging bare branches as she makes her way first south then east. Pulling her robe tighter to ward off the brisk wind, she pauses in the garden and stands at the base of the statue and gazing upwards, her lips moves in silent speech as she lays a hand softly on the cold stone. Her steps then turn north, skirting the shore until she reaches her destination. Here she stands silent and alone, looking out over the ocean, bathed in the soft light of the rising sun.

Drakon's mind starts to settle as he follows Krull to the south-east, He watches as Krull sniffs the air and examines every possible trace the little Goblin could have left along the way. Drakon could tell that his skill at tracking wasn't even close to what Krull could detect. As they walked he kept looking through the tree lines hoping to spot the Goblin and have this whole ordeal over with.

As the two begin to search the woods to the South-east they can see the charred trees from the fires the Goblin set two nights ago. In the distance something moves off quickly away from the two hunters. Drakon calls out to Krull "There Krull that may be him "and points to the east where the sheep are. Krull lets out a grunt and takes off after it with Drakon right behind him. when they Clear the tree line nothing can be seen.

Drakon looks around trying to see if he can spot the Goblin while Krull examines the ground quickly and sees tracks but not Goblin tracks it was just a deer that strayed from the pack and ran off when it heard the two coming. Drakon looks to Krull and asks" Was it him?"

Having been busy with the Knights, yet realizing her promise to the Tinechor and Isilwen, Caiah's steps lead her to the harbor. Waiting for the ferry, a frown crosses her face as she leans on the weathered planks of the station while thoughts wind around in a turmoil from the biting words of the Jarl. Shaking her head she whispers to someone not seen turning her head slightly to the right..

Was he right? Am I at fault for all our trouble?

Abruptly blinking she begins to run speaking a little louder.

We almost missed it!

.. as she jumps from the pier to the now moving ferry grabbing onto the rail then pulling herself over taking a minute to catch her breath before whispering again,

We need to have the comfort of the elves again sister.

Looking ahead hopeful to soon view the beautiful land of Tol, Caiah's eyes suddenly turn a bright silver as a smile forms on her features before she whispers in a comforting tone of voice.

Don't worry sister, he was wrong.

"Was it him?" Drakon asked.

Before Krull could answer the area erupted in an explosion of light and cinders! Krull and Drakon were looking at the sky from their backs when suddenly:

"Gnak gash Bree!" a goblin could be heard charging from the trees, an axe held on high.

Quickly, Krull managed to lift himself from the ground and take a defensive stance, unsheathing his swords, waiting for the goblin to approach.

Drakon stunned from the blast stumbles to his feet, he looks and sees Krull standing ready for battle and hears the Goblin as he charges them both. Drakon draws his sword and readies his shield as he blinks his eyes trying to focus them on the charging Goblin, Drakon looks to Krull and tells him "The Goblin must live, try and capture him before trying to strike him down Krull. Krull watches as the Goblin pulls a mace and charges the two. Overextending himself, the goblin lunges toward Krull. Krull steps back, narrowly missing a swing from the mace, and then spins around, following the goblin around. Krull sees an opening and takes it, he pommels the Goblin in the back of the head with the hilt of his sword.

Stunned, the goblin falls face forward into the mud, unconscious.

"Dis nub beh him" Krull says, "Just another Goblin sent to help him meh guess."

With that said, Krull takes a rope from his pack and ties the goblins hands.

"Joo can hab dis one" he says to Drakon, "meh lookin' for Grimgit"

"Da tracks continue to da South-west from here...probly to da Harbor", Krull says.

Drakon watches as a Krull knocks the Goblin unconscious and ties him up after hearing Krull say.

"Dis nub beh him just another Goblin sent to help him meh guess." Drakon looks to the Goblin and looks around he then hears Krull tell him.

"Joo can hab dis one meh lookin' for Grimgit"

Drakon takes the Goblin by the shoulder as Krull looks to tracks and says.

"Da tracks continue to da South-west from here...probly to da Harbor"

With a nod Drakon the Goblin and Krull begin to walk to the South-west before going to the Harbour, Drakon writes out a note and sends a dove to ALasie warning him that more Goblins may be on Vanima not just the one Krull was looking for and that he should tell the rest of the Tinechor to be on watch. He also tells him that Krull just captured a Goblin that seems to be helping Grimgit and asks for another Tinechor to come take the Goblin so that Krull and Drakon continue the hunt for Grimgit.

As they wait for a dove to return with a reply Drakon begins to ask the Goblin Krull caught a few questions hoping that he may lead them to Grimgit quicker.

Drakon looks to the Goblin and ask.

Where is Grimgit ?

Why are you here ?

How many of you are here in Vanima now ?

Drakon looks sternly to the Goblin as he waits for the answers to his questions.

The goblin looks on as Drakon asks it questions.

Krull grunts and slaps the goblin hard.

"Why you be doings thats!" the goblin says.

Krull responds, "Answer da questions! Where beh Grimgit!"

"He not heresks!" the goblin chuckles. "Gone away he has, never you find him hehe!"

Krull grunts and slaps him again, "Where!"

"Ouchies!" the goblin yells and then says, "Seek him elsewhere stoopid Orcy!"

Krull nods to Drakon and says "Meh guess da hunt goes on". Krull goes on to say that the tracks lead to the harbor, and that Grimgit very possibly left Vanima. The goblin chuckles softly. With a sigh, Krull hails the waiting ferry and decides to embark to the main Island.

"Farrebas Drakon" Krull says, and embarks upon the ferry.

Drakon watches silently as Krull questions the Goblin after Krull gets the answers he looks Krull and says. "Farewell " to him as he leaves on the Ferry. Drakon looks to the Goblin with a curious look hoping what the Goblin said was true and that Vanima would be peace full at least from the Goblin Grimgit. He waits for Alasie's reply on what to do with this Goblin.

Alasiel frowns as he reads over the note, puzzled at first, but then understanding. He quickly responds, saying only "Bring him to me." After he sends this, he writes notices to the other members of the Tinechor, folding them and placing them in the pocket of his robe until his bird returns. He then sits against a tree, his eyes watchful over the forests of Tol Vanima as he begins sliding a whetstone along the edge of his blade.

Drakon sits and watches the Goblin very carefully, he notices a dove and holds out his hand it lands gracefully in his hand. After reading the note that was sent to him, He looks to the Goblin and tells hims to move the Goblin refuses to move with his frustration mounting he grabs the Goblin by the shoulders and looks it in the eyes and tells it" If you won't move, Then I will drag to Alasiel " with that he grabs the Goblin by his bound hands and begins to pull the him after a about ten feet the the Goblin gives in and walks the rest of the way to where Alasiel was sitting.

When they get there Drakon can see him sharpening his blade, He brings the Goblin to stand next to where Alasiel is sitting and begins to tell him what has happened and hold this Goblin was captured. Also telling him that Krull is no longer on the Island and that he left by ferry only moments before receiving his dove. Drakon Looks to Alasiel and asks " What are you going to do with him?" then turns and looks to the Goblin.
