clothing and armor

Post by Crocket »

Is it planned for the future to have different graphics for different armor, clothing, weapons, etc?
This way not everyone is identical but a persons character would be drawn according to what they are wearing.

I know this could take some time and work, but I was wondering if it is being worked on now or if it is in the future plans?

Please use the search function, there have been hundreds of topics asking the same question. I believe the answer was no, there are too many possibilities, even for a general sketch.

I did use the search function and found one titled "see what you wear" but it was locked and most of them were in the proposal forum and I wanted the graphics people to check in to it so I started a new one.

Just because it was on the proposal board doesn't mean they didn't "check into it". It is just as much work to do now than it was a year ago. There are other things most of us would like to see happen above this. Just think, the more new graphics introduced, the more the client gets bigger and slower.

OK, don't do it with graphics but with commands.

Something like #look at Crocket.

Then if that person is withing your range of view you would get a message like...
"Crocket is wearing leather armor, a metal helmet, and leather boots, he is carrying a short sword and wooden shield."
(just a sample message, I'm sure someone else could word it better)

If you don't know the person's name you use their number.
"#look at 99999"

Heck i would ALMOST like to see this done for anything ^_^ like

#look

Then you could see which way your facing ^_^ like in the blacksmithing area. " You see a bustling place with people walking in and out. Also big anvils are toward the back for blacksmiths to work on." Im just crazy what can i say ^_^ But it would probably slow the server down even more >_< Oh well cant have it all Hahahaha

How would it slow the server down?
I understand graphics slow it down, but does just a few lines of text slow it down?

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

1) graphics do NOT slow the server down. the server doesn't know ANYTHING about graphics. it's YOUR computer AT HOME, running the CLIENT, which displays GRAPHICS. *NOT* THE SERVER! which part is it you did not understand?
2) i explained much too often why this won't be implemented. i won't do it again.
3) this proposal is not new.
4) sorry, i'll start closing topics now. and to satrt with starting, i'll use THIS thread.
