MSN and Yahoo Messenger advice?

Post by Juniper Onyx »

During the Server downtime, I re-installed MSN Messenger. It has changed a little, but then I sent a PM to a friend and suggested we chat.

He didn't know what I was talking about or how to get it.

I told him, but it got me thinking,

What does everyone else do for Messenger 'Chat' with other players?
Is MSN the best?
What advice does the community have for new players to interact with others outside of the Game and forums?

The answers to these and others may help more players use these services. Please post ideas to help, I could learn some too.

Thanks.

In Europe icq is very wide spread. I for myself use icq and msn (for US players and staff mostly). Also I am online in illarions irc channel almost at any time. Some players like to meet on teamspeak as well. For icq and msn I use the same client, which can handle both protocols (pidgin).

personally i prefer live voice chat services such as teamspeak as its a pain to try and type while playing a keyboard intensive game where as i can chat with a person without havign to just tsop everythign and type a message

I don't know anyone rl who uses anything other than msn, and in illa most people use msn.

To tackle this problem, use trillian or miranda, which combine all messengers into one. I use msn personally, though.

I have to use MSN and ICQ most.

MSN mostly for the english speaking community.
ICQ for the german speaking.

Over all chat systems I saw until now I like Jabber the best. The only problem is that its not that common used.

Overall, I think MSN is the largest. Some US-people us AIM. Also, some people, mostly around ages 25-30 use ICQ. MSN is nice.

My main chat account is ICQ and a bit AIM. Y! is used by quite none. And I boycott MSN. I hope Jabber will be known more, maybe when Trillian supports it.

PS: And I use IRC, of couse.
