20:00 GMT is 8pm GMT.
The Germans mostly use "24 Hour" time (Also known as Zulu or Military time). Others use "12 Hour AM/PM" time. Depends on preference. 7am=0700.....11am=1100.....1pm=1300 (Because past Noon, just keep going to 24 Hours)....and 8pm=2000.
GMT-Greenwich Mean Time (Through London) - This line is internationally recognized as the 'foundation' for determining time-zones. The International Date Line is on the other side of the World.
Three common ones I see:
The following depend on "Daylight Savings Time":
CEST - Central European Standard Time=GMT+1 (Covers German, Austria, etc.)
EST - Eastern Standard Time=GMT-5 (Eastern USA, Mexico)
CST - Central Standard Time=GMT-6 (Central USA)
