A winged creature in Tol Vanima

Post by Paldomire »

((please PM me first if you want to post something or if you want to comment. Any elf who was in the haven on nov 10 to 12 is welcome to add their reactions. Oh, and excuse my english if it has some mistakes, not my native language.))

At night, the sky above the woods east of the elven haven suddenly darkened with magical clouds. Then, suddenly, two loud sounds were heard successively.

The first, was a loud explosion-like sound, one that would wake you up if you were any kind of light sleeper. The sound was accompanied by a bright flash of light that was seen like the flash of a bolt of lightning on the horizon. This woke many animals and the peaceful area around the elven haven made those animals jump and run for their lives even though nothing threatened them. Some flock of birds were seen moving away from where the sound originated, while flocks of bats were disoriented and flew chaotically in the air.

The second was a reversed zapping-like sound that followed a second or two after the first sound, as if it was the resolution of the first sound. This would convince anyone in the region that was awaken by the first sound that something happened deep inside the woods. The clouds then retracted to their point of origin before disappearing, like being sucked up by some powerful force, and disappeared abruptly just like they appeared.

One is to wonder what could have caused such an event in such a peaceful place. Afterwards, the animals were unnerved by the smell of burned wood, leafs and grass but no fire broke out outside the area that the sounds originated from.

((Since the GM I sent a message said nothing and no players want to participate, I'll continue on my own.))

Afterwards, several elven people went to see what was happening, what could have caused such a disturbance on the peaceful island. Some came back with stories of a falling star that landed in the forest while others talked about a magical mishap or incident caused by an unknown party or person. The truth was never really found and neither was the winged creature.

Later in the week, something strange happened in the community of Tol Vanima. A rumour of a winged creature roaming about was spreading, some speculated it was benevolent others the opposite.

Elsewhere on the island, the winged creature took an abandoned tower as her refuge while it was still wondering what just happened to itself. It was trying to figure out what to do next, it was very afraid and a bit paranoid.

It began to explore its surroundings a few days after the explosion-like thing that happened. There it saw many animals, plants and even a small community of unknown beings in the middle of the island. It was hungry, so it decided to seek some food, and it found some oversize berries in a large bush nearby the strange community. It was also a bit cold at nights, its clothing were damaged and even burnt at some places leaving large holes where it could see its skin.

Several days later, its curiosity surpassed its fright and it began to roam around the community and even inside, hiding in what seems to be pots sometimes, behind some what seems to be furniture, other times it just hid behind things just lying around. It was easy to hide since these beings were giants, more than four times its height and more than than for their weight.

Inside it found many things of interest and many things that scared it even further. It fled from the community back to its hiding place when it saw something unsettling, like one of those giants. But, it remained quite a long time looking at the things it found interesting, like some sort of storage device for words that strangely it could understand.

It went through most of the works written in those strange devices and it understood a bit better these people although there were great mentions of a people called "man" inside some of the books. It thought that these "man" were foolish, self centered and highly materialistic, it pitied them. It read many works like "The Old Man's Tales", and on the "Priest of Eldan", etc.

After several days, it had explored the entire island and the community on it. Now it pondered on what to do next, what it should do to find its people and if they were alright.
