A decent new Client, but a suggestion...

Post by Xerake »

I think this new client is great, especially with the new method of showing your skills (also considering the only way to talk about them is to tell what shade of red out of 200 it's on). However, might I suggest a female lizard graphic? I know lizards seem homogenous in appearances, but it isn't difficult to make one. All you would have to do is have the skin tone lighter. (Lizards are the only race without a female graphic  )

And, if somebody felt like doing more than a skin tone change, they could look not quite as muscular or something. They are lizardPEOPLE right? They have characteristics of a person, including walking on two legs and speaking a fluent language. So why not have gender differences in looks?

So...what do you think?

I've noticed that when the new client download is unzipped into the existing illarion folder, it creates a new folder inside that contains the new files. I think it would be less confusing if this was explained a little better in the news or download page.

Oh and this is not very important, but the scroll buttons in boxes and bags always used to be in the order of "Right, Left, Close" but now it's "Left, Right, Close"

Also it would help a little, if new functions such as the "save log" checkbox was explained a little more clearly, even though one might be able to guess it.

Another thing, some of the graphics look a bit ...anime style (they look good, but they don't mix with some of the older graphics) Namely the water, cobblestone...

Also, the colored words for the skills are a bit hard to see, maybe there could be a colored box next to the word...

Another few observations:
- The insects don't appear on the tile they are supposed to be on
- darker graphics (coal) are somewhat hard to see
- Numbers (of items) appear under other graphics

I'm sure it will seem alright again once everyone adjusts. :)

I hope there will be a manual some day.

They are supposed to be on the tile, the shadow rests on - are they there?

The way I see the insects, the shadow is on one tile, the bodies on another, and are counted as being on a third different tile. I would try to get an image, but the server appears to be down.

The graphic I noted for being over top of the text was a shovel going over a little "2" on my ore. I don't see why only some of them do and some don't (aside from the ones that don't cross out of their own tiles).

Perhaps the "2" belonged to an invisible item (one from the bug)?

Here's the image, maybe it can explain itself (this was just taken now, with patches in place)

As far as I know, a big item covering up another item's number has always been like that. As for a big item that crosses over to another slot but appears UNDER the number, I've never seen that before..

Maybe I just didn't realize it until now...
I still think that it could use al bit of work though.
