Taeryon Silverlight wrote:It definetly is a reason in this case. The elementary wands (and especially the wind wands) are uber and shouldn't be given away for 12 - 15 silvers. Also, it would be a bit unfair to new players, to let them pay 200 or more silver coins for something, others have bought for less then 10% of this.
not that i'm ungrateful but that just sounds stupid. When putting in a new crafting system we were all prepared to to relearn how to make the items we craft, not to be told that perviously crafted items would be removed because in the OOC world someone didn't like the IG economy. Thats punishing players for RP in a sense, regardless of reasoning.

I don't think that stockpiling 200 helmets of the same kind on a depot is "RP".

Trust me, that wasn't an easy decision, but it should make life more interesting in Illarion (which is the contrary from "more easy", because, well, if you get everything for free, where's the fun in that?)

@Taeryon: Mages still got their skills + runes. Fighters need a whole armor + weapons to do anything.

And maybe a warning would have been good so people could have at least 1 armor and 1 weapon. I don't have an idea of how I'm going to rp that with my char. And this removes all my wanting to log in.

And where's everything for free? We worked hard and paid for the stuff, it's not like we just got them.

Joro we lost our staffs aswell and mages staffs are much more expensive as new equiepment (one armour and one weapon) and I guess most mages don't have hundreds of spare armour to atleast bring bakc some money.

I still don't see the logic behind removing/changing items. rare tems for one aren't even stockpiled. secondly your prone to lose item over the course of play anyway, so it's not as if the items themselves have infinite use.

The way Taeron made it sound was like saying, because Player X sold these items which he made completely legally and without trick/hack or bug, for X price we're just going to erase them because he should have sold them for more. i can imagine if it had been a common weapon like longswords, flame ahoy

doesn't explain why my leather armor and leggings turned into coin and Morgan won't seel me new ones either. Personally i'd like a list of stuff i'm going to have to re-buy because player were deemed unworthy of owning currently. but i doubt thats going to happen.

regardless i'm sure it will be 'more fun'. thanks for the update

I think something must be done about this trading of goods for a silver. My character had 50 leather shoes waiting to sell to Todd and I just got 1 silver for each of them. Good for me but I think bad for the economy.

ask the ones who lost their silversteels and got one coin ; ) and wouldn't it be stupid to trade the helmets then for one coin...whoever had so much junk.

Oh and people used much of their silvers to buy some armor and stuff lately in the market, but oh well.

I'm still rather excited to test the new crafting system, but not at all in the spirit to log in.

Ok, that's ridicoulus. Namfalur has light blue skill in smithing and very good green skill in carpentry. Tough, he can produce better shields with smithing then with carpentry. Thank you, you can erase carpentry, if it is like that.

is there a chance that chars get items which they got as a questreward back from the gm's? for example klurk. he got, for winning the tournament, some weapons and armors as a reward. i really would like to have them back. same with samantha and items which she got as rewards. like an exzellent wand of wind. i wont like having that items vanish., that would be a "wipe delight". and the last wiped destroyed my best char. i got them as rewards for quest...and i would like to keep them.

reaölly...it is no good idea to bring an update, and with that, frustrate and demotivate most of the players. knowing that i lost of my items for which i worked so long and which i got as rewards in quests is, currently, giving me the push away from illarion.its a feeling like looking for the char-delete button at the new client.

i think it was the completly wrong desicion to do that item wipe.

p.s. i dont think that tghe craftm,en who had the most money ingame really need that advantage of deleting all items. dont forget that 2/3 of all silver was in the hand of the silverbrand smiths and carpenter. thanks for kicking the players of non crafters into their crotch *grumbles*

Sigh... And there went all of Dan's training equitment and back up equitment for his pages. I'm lucky to have saved a shield and a sword from his last training session so I don't have to waste my now non-magical longswords.

No need to quit Sam or be too terribly angry you have amazingly good RPing Mage Apprentices!! We will still like you without your uber items. Plus you have your Trial to worry about. It will all work out, if you get mad about your items just send Eli a dove he will RP. And if you delete Sam and quit, all the mage apprentices' work would be for nothing........... But I would continue to play, Eli might get awfully drunk and rowdy but he would find something to be happy about.

new crafting system good idea.

Wiping items in a ongoing game without warning, very bad idea.

I foresee, the best crafters on the isle making massive fortunes on overpriced goods that can't be gotten anywhere else, while newer crafters sturggle to catch up.

Not to mention characters whom have become rich overnight with no real reasoning behind it. while characters with coveted or trasured possessions lose them for no reason as well.

Then there's the pointless wiped items. the ones that were removed that people can simply farm monsters to return ( so some people get free silver, thats a good thing though  )

If anything this isn't going to boost Illarion economy, it's going to freeze it in place for awhile. while everyone relearns basic craft then attempts to catch up with those whom already had especially high skills, until then the coin will be in the hands of great crafters only.

and yes the noncrafting crowd got hit the hardest by this wipe. as they will have to take the maybe 20 plus silver they got from the items lost to rebuy one or two pieces of armor.

Somehow it always seems like the good things in Illarion are immediatly followed buy something depressing.

to restate

Yay crafting system

Boo item wipe

Hello,

Just a little question, do I need to download something new from somewhere? Because when I try to log IG, I get the lizard on a black background, and then it crashes for 'Reason: Unknown'

Yeah totally, cause like, whats the point of Illarion without uber-itemzorz to lord over n00bs? How now can I assert my pwnage without those uber-cool weponz of mass pwnage? I'm totally serial!

Seriously, /cry. I lost alot of rare items, but they are just items. Now you have something to work for (again). Not even an industrial powerhouse could pump out the amount of items players were in Illarion previously in real life, the new system is definately worth it. 8) HEY AND, mummy junk and monster drop armor is useful! ZOMG TO TEH MUMMIEZ!

Okay, Athian, stop repeating it, we already know that you don't like it.

Oh, and Sam, you don't have to whine around, we know that you're crying like a baby, no need to waste your time posting it.

Quest items will be given back after we've fixed most issues.

And carpentry will stay with it's 20 (crap) unsellable items with high skill, while smiths are even more uber now?

Maybe changing this "unsellable" state would help?

Maybe changing that my dwarf with about 15% skill in smithing can make about 100 items from which of 50% are well sellable, while he can make about 20 items, which non of is sellable with about 70% carpentry would change that I'm very fucked up, since all the new system brought to me is, that namfalur won't be able to make good money again, while smiths will be rich within 1 week.

I may have missed something posted, I can't understand the reasoning behind the item wipe in the first place, nor why there was no discussion about it before the craft update.

I'm happy. See in the 2.5 years I've played, I've been RPING. That means the only good items I had were drow blades and an excellent, brand new wand of wind (But I don't really care as long as I have some sort of targeting wand) and no such skills ;)

Maybe some of you who depend so thoroughly on your ever so precious yellow skills can finally start putting that time into roleplaying instead of powergaming.
