Ama'shoon ((closed RP))

Post by Achae Eanstray »

Achae looks at her engagement ring and smiles but her face looks troubled. She has no one to give her away as far as she knows and not even a dowry. Even her last name, Eanstray, wasn't real. She had always told everyone that's what it was and most didn't know she had just made up the name, that she couldn't remember much before coming to Gobiath. For some reason she knew and remembered her first name and remembered snatches of picture-like scenes. Some of those scenes were of her wearing leather, on a horse in the forest, sisters similar to her in a small village, and a nightmare of a cave that held her along with others of her kind. Lady Meryadeles thought her remembrances could be of The Ama'shoon, a tribe close to the Serinjah. "Ranger" had given her a tea to take at night that could bring back some memories, yet some of those remembrances were nightmarish. When Mark offered to take her there, she had at first declined thinking that her life now as she was living it was good, and she wasn't interested in changing anything. But Mark deserved better then to have someone as his wife that didn't know her last name. Achae decided talk to him again and tell him she was ready to go, that she needed to find out more about her family and previous life.

Mark and Achae walk hand in hand across the bridge that connects the briar to the mainland marveling at the snow. He smiles at her and gives her a kiss. They are on their way to the harbor. Towards the serinjah plains to find the Ama'shoon and some of Achae's lost past. "Hopefully we don't have to wait too long for a ship, but we have more than enough supplies if we have to stay at the harbor for a night or two" "I look forward to some new scenery" he tells Achae as they approach the harbor.
Though he was very busy with his new dutes as High Knight, he was going to keep his promise to her that he would take her on this trip. Ironically though, Mark had been concerned that if Achae unlocked her past it might change her, or that she might not want to return to Gobiath. His love for her and his false understanding that she needed to seek her past to feel more complete, demanded that he lead the way towards the Serinjah Plains."Hi ho Mark! Achae." greets the harbor merchant. "I've made another big order of bricks for you".
"I thank you, however this time Achae and I are headed towards Serinjah, do you know when the next ship arrives?"
"Aye, I do! One leaves tonight, you 'are' in luck! .. But Serinjah, that
be a long way to travel." "Yes... I will buy the bricks from you upon our return, no more than a month from now. Thanks"
Mark takes Achae into a quiet corner of the harbor house, pulls out a
chair for her and takes a seat on a barrel. He takes out some strawberries
and grapes from his sack to pass their time as they await their departure.

Achae nervously walks with Mark to the harbor, occasionally looking in her bag to see if she packed eveything and looking at the pier waiting for the boat. When she sits in the chair turning to Mark, the anxiety at the
prospect of the trip vanishes and she starts to calm down knowing he will
be with her on her journey. After awhile upon hearing a strange noise from the harbor she abruptly stands
"There it is!" She steps out to look at the ship and her eyes widen at it's size and beauty. "How long will we be on the ship Mark?"

Mark smiles a bit, sounding like he assumes it will be a difficult task "Well it's hard to say, first thing will be to 'find' the nomads."
There is however compassion in his words and the light half-smile/half-smirk he often has being happy to be with Achae despite a difficult situation at hand. "The trip will be a little less than a week I'm guessing."
After making sure it is in fact the right boat, Mark pays a small fee and they are escorted to a very small room with not much more than a bed. "This be where y'ar be sleeping, ye can walk the deck but stay out the way," mumbles the escort. Mark looks to Achae with a humorous smile and lights a lamp, "I'm concerned about what the Ama'shoon will think when the see me with you" Both knowing the Ama'shoon live without men. "If they wanted you to go alone with them... I don't want you to... but if it was the only way...and you want to.. I would understand."

Throwing her cloak and bag on the small bed she turns to Mark reaching up to hug him while sadly shaking her head "Mark, you can't go with me to the Ama'shoon, it's too dangerous for us both, I'll have to go alone." Quickly leaning her head against his chest so as to hide her look of agitation, she closes her eyes and takes comfort in being in his arms.
As their journey by sea progresses, Achae no longer gets seasick thanks to her herbs, but still can't seem to eat that much appearing slightly thinner then usual. She has again woken up in the middle of the night to stand at the rail and watch the moonlight play on the sea waiting for sunrise. During these times her thoughts seem far away as she thinks not
of the sea, but of the forest. The smell of pine and the beauty of the trees seem to be always close to her. She whispers as of a distant memory with eyes slightly glazed "Alone with myself, the trees bend to caress me, the shade hugs my heart". With a sigh, she stands holding the rail with her hair gently blowing in the breeze, waiting for the sun to rise.

Mark turns in his sleep, awakens noticing Achae is not beside him. Sitting up worried, he looks around and quickly jumps out of bed throwing on some clothes. Running up the stairs he sees her on deck and with a sigh of relief, walks calmly to meet her on the portside. He gently caresses her from behind, kissing her neck and ear a bit and then looks out to sea quietly, the wind blowing on his face. He feels good for some reason, perhaps he missed the sea, having grown up in a small fishing village, perhaps he just likes being with Achae away from everything else.

Achae hears Mark coming and feels his warm touch, smiling at the
inexplicable wonderful smell of the forest he seems to evoke in her mind,
while leaning slightly back from the rail into his arms. Though he appears
very much at home enjoying the sea while easily standing firm with the
rolling of the ship, she always seems to connect him with the forest.
Could it be because she also loves the forest, or is it something from her
past, an unknown memory causing this whenever she is near him?
Seeing at last the rise of the sun to a new day, and visibly shaking off
her pensive mood, Achae sighs turning in Mark's embrace to face him
looking up to kiss his chin. With the light from the sun reflected in his
blue eyes, seeking his gaze, there is a look of anticipation on her face
knowing their trip will end soon wondering at the sights they will see.
"Mark, the seacoast village you came from, did they have horses?" Achae
becomes excited anticipating being able to see and touch an animal called
a horse. Having read in the library of these magnificent animals on the
mainland, and seeing snatches in her dreams of riding a horse, she can
barely wait until the ship lands.

"There is a stable, but I never visited it, it was for travelers mostly. I lived in the same little house, about the size of ours in greenbriar only with a family of five. I lived in that home since I was born until I left and found Gobiath." He moves a bit so that he never looses an inch of closeness, but so that they face each other. He looks into her eyes warm and curious. "I was also thinking that is how it would be best to travel, but I don't know how to ride. Do you?" A shock from starbord "Land Ho!" Suddenly the deck begins to fill with sailors rushing to their posts.
Mark turns to achae, "Lets get out of the way."

Achae walked from the ship with eyes widened and when on the soil of the Serinjah stopped and reached for Mark' s hand needing the closeness and comfort of his touoh. The first thing she noticed were the horses and immediately upon viewing them looked at Mark "Yes, I have ridden them" with a large smile on her face and distant look in her eye as if she was no longer there but somewhere else. When seeing their ride to town, Achae walks up to the horse and gently strokes it's forelock then reaches in her bag to hand it a carrot. Smiling at Mark and holding her skirt she puts her foot on the stirrup and jumps on. He marvels as she hops onto the horse with ease. He hands her his sac and carefully manages to hop on behind her.
They arrive at a town and find housing in an inn, immediately Mark sends a dove to one of the three rulers of the clan known to be Ama'shoon. They then look about town and await a response. Very early the next day, a woman on a black stallion arrives holding the reins of another horse neither having a saddle. She wore leather pants and blouse and had a leather strap tied around her forehead. "Are you Achae, I am Kreousa, we will go now, here are your riding clothes" throwing a bag for Achae to catch. Achae tries to catch the bag and drops it then hurriedly picks it up looking inside. Walking back from their room with the clothes on wearing her leather pants and blouse but holding the leather strap unsure quite what to do with it, she looks at Mark and smiles with a slight blush then looks at Kreousa "I'm ready". After hugging Mark goodbye and with a sad yet excited look on her face, she jumps on the horse and follows her guide.

Mark watches her ride off over the horizon and can't quite define his feelings. He decides to do what he always does when missing Achae, work. Surely there had to be something he could do around here to take his mind off of her. After walking around through the main square of the Serinjah village, through the various tents and between the single or double floored buildings, he came across a building with a logo of sword and hammer. He smiled and eyes lit up if only for a moment before thinking again of Achae.
One knock on the door was enough for the rickety thing to gently creek open. Thinking perhaps the place had been abandoned, Mark walked in to take a look around. "Pretty standard equipement", he thought. "Very similar to the stuff back home" He then noticed 5 small metal objects on one table, looking a little like large snowflakes. He picks one up to examine it further and whispers to himself, a little shocked "..still warm"
"Well hello there.." speaks a warm old voice.
Mark turns with a bit of a start getting ready to explain himself, but seeing the old man's genuine smile and bright warm eyes, cannot help but smile himself.

The trip was a long one taking half the day but when arrived, they were greated by the ruler who was a priestess of Findari, the goddess of air, and said her name was Jacquette. Their tribe had a number of symbols of their worship of the goddess Findari and most of the women who called themselves sisters to each other, were carrying bow and arrow. Achae was greeted warmly by all in the tribe while their leader, Jacquette looked at Achae calmly but quietly then said "I have heard a story but not sure if it is yours". Achae's hazel eyes watch Jacquette closely having had more snatces of memory return from just looking at the tribe and the people. Achae spoke "I have a sister and a nephew I think but I can only remember their faces, can you tell me more?" Jacquette with a sad face tells Achae the story:
"There was once a village of Ama'shoon that devoted their life to fight and to protect the land. They were farther away from the rest of the tribe on the edge of the forest near mountain land." Stopping her tale to look at Achae closely, she paused then whispered "you have the same hair color and eyes as the women did from that village". Achae's eyes widen at the use of the past tense when talking of the village, sighing and looking sad "They are no longer there then?"

Achae returns to find out that mark is to be found at the smithy and when she enters he is working alongside the old man.

Even though it was dark, he sees that she has been crying and speaks softly while hugging her "Tell me what happened, love".

Achae whispers in a sad voice, "The people of the village I grew up in are all gone, the warriors were defending the forest.. all killed and the rest in the village moved to other places. But Mark, I keep having these scattered flashes in my dreams. There is a chase, we are hurt, then there was a cave at the edge of the forest. Every time I dream of the cave, I wake up frightened."

"I'm sorry Achae." He holds her as she dries her crying and then asks her what she wants to do next; if there is more to be found here, or whether she will have to leave ithe answers to her dreams.

Achae tells Mark there is nothing more for her here. She bids her farewell to the Ama'shoon and the Serinjah, and once again in their small cabin they eagerly await their arrival home to Gobiath and particularly Greenbriar.
